Was wondering if someone could give me some tips. Getting married late August and just realised that we dont have a wedding photographer. Could any one recommend some good photographers out there, not the traditional types who take the same old boring style of pics. I might e=be wishing for a lot, but any with a web-page would be cool, since we could view their portfolio.

Also a wedding co-ordinator/planner would also be helpfull.

Would love to hear your ideas.

I visit Karachi twice a year along with ither s.e asia cities do these clubs exist if so how do i get there.I stay in all the top hotels,sheraton/pc etc and have never been to one yet.please help.
p.s i am uk based and really would not like a lecture on religion,just want some fun , i put a lot of money into Pakistan , love the land but want some fun also.

I will be visiting Karachi with several non-Pakistani friends in December for my wedding. I have a few questions about Karachi since I have never lived there.
1) How often does it rain in Karachi in December? How cold does it get? I would like to have an outdoor wedding but am worried about getting rained out.
2) Could anyone let me know whether its possible to get good fares for travel to Karachi from NYC? Since December is when a lot of Pakistanis abroad visit Pakistan, fares are high.
3)We would like to rent out a house for about a month from mid Dec 2006- Mid Jan 2007, preferably in either Defence Phase 5 or PECHS Block 2. How much would rent be roughly? Where would I find out about houses which can be rented for a month?
I would really appreciate some information.

hi, im staying in karachi for about 2 months, can ne 1 tell me where the parties are at? are there any dance clubs? I know in order to go to parties, you have to know the right people, which i dont... So does anyone have any idea where i can find parties and possibly meet some ladies....

I am planning to backpack in karachi,how is the safety there?I have heard that is should avoid karachi,it is the worst city in Pakistan .All answers from local and other would be much apreciated .

Looking for a house to rent in Karachi. Minimum is a 3 bedroom home, with multiple bathrooms,( no water problem), drawing/dining, decent kitchen. lawn, and parking ..Good location is a must ..I do not know too much about Karachi..so am hoping someone will have some suggestions. I am not looking to pay an exorbitant rent, does anyone know what is normal rent? I have been making my inquries, but since I have heard that the people of Pakistan are great helpful people, I am counting on someone out there :) Again tahnsk in advance for your help!

Is it possible to take a ferry to India from Karachi by ferry?
I heard that there's the ferry to Munbay.

Im from Poland i want to come to Karachhi to meet my friend there. I dont have any relations in Pakistan. What would you suggest? Any tips for me to be safe and avoid dangers? Is it good to stay in a hotel for a white alone lady? What about going out , streets? Im blond should i put something on my head not to drive attention of other people to me? What about travelling around the city? CAbs are safe? DO taxi drivers cheat foreigners? Are there any company trustworthy? if something happens may i expect local police help me?

This forum rocks! You folks are absolutely helpful, informative & accomodating. The suggestions posted are incredibly useful. You have no idea how consoling it is to know that one can still confidently find their way around a foreign land beyond a regular guide book.
Having said that, I've read (but still struggling to grasp!) most of the posts on first time visits, but I'd like to get more comments/ideas before I wrap up my pre-trip preps.
I'll be visiting Karachi in November (ie. week after Eid Ul-Fitr-anything exciting happening during that time?!) to meet my future sasuraal *blushes*. I'll have a good 5 days, excl. arrival and departing days but I won't be devoting too much time outdoors coz they're my priority. Considering I won't have the luxury of sight-seeing comprehensively, I've narrowed down my choices to Quaid-E-Azamm, Masjid E-Tooba, Hawks Bay, Paradise Point. I'm also hoping to take a day tour to Thatta, Haleeji Lake and Shah Jehan Mosque. Appreciate any leads/ideas on tour gents/packages/costs. Are these choices ok or are there other 'must-see' places that I'd missed?
I don't quite fancy shopping but I enjoy exploring bazaars. There's just something enchanting about the winding lanes lined by quaint shops. But there's so many in Karachi!!! Sarafa, Zainab Mkt, Bohri, Juna, Kharadar, Mithadar, Jodia, Haidery Mkt, Paapoosh, Lalokhet... Which ones do you reckon I should check out?
Re weather, how warm does it get during the day? 28º + cool winds? What bout in the evenings? 8º?

1. Where/How (and for how much) can I get a rental car (preferably luxurious; land-cruiser, etc) for a month, + a driver, and a body-guard.
2. What's the best area to get a one (or two) bedroom apartment for no more than Rs.20,000/month (for 1 month) - I need it to be very SECURE and PRIVATE and clean.
3. Where can I get relatively cheap electronics (dvd-players, car audio, etc) - I've heard of Chor Bazaar, but I dont know where that is.

Also, I was born in Karachi but lived in Canada all my life, I speak Urdu very well and look just like a normal pakistani.

I will be attending a wedding in Karachi in December and have the task of booking hotel for 6 couples (6 rooms) for 4 weeks. I have looked at various hotels and the prices are way high compared to the standard.

I know that the Sheraton, PC & Marriot are the best though but too expensive for 6 rooms for 4 weeks.

I looked at Regent Plaza which is reasonable in price but the reviews on this hotel are mixed. If anyone has stayed ther recently can you please tell what to expect. Clean rooms, bathrooms. Does this compare to Marriot or others.

Just want an idea if this hotel is good, bad or reasonable?

I am travelling to Karachi in July for a week and am undecided whether to stay at Sheraton, Marriot or Pearl Continental. Input from those who have stayed at any of these hotels would be very much appreciated. Also, do any of these luxury hotels have internet facilities on the cheap?

I hear lot of kidnappings take place in karachi - is this a fact or myth?

Finally, what sort of weather should I expect, and are taxis air conditioned?

I am due in Karachi for 1 day only staying at the Sheraton (thanks for the info) exactly how hot/uncomfortable will it be?? i was there in Jan/feb quite hot but the locals had wooly jumpers on! i am told when i arrive 15th June i am gonna melt , i am of Pakistani descent but i am totally westernised and used to the rain and cold of Manchester (u.k) please give me some idea of what to expect, its 16 degrees celcius at the moment in Manchester, sunny and everybody is walking about in t shirts and sunglasses saying how hot it is,give me a clue what to expect Karachi,thanks.

I am looking for a single person luxurious apartment in Karachi on rent. I will be living in Karachi for my job and studies
and I need a nice modernly built apartment with rent btw 15000-18000/month. I essentially need the location to be a
very quiet and posh one (no loud noises, no college boys playing street cricket etc. no politics either).
I looked a few in the Defence area but the rent was above my budget limit.
Can anyone guide me which areas/towns of Karachi will be the best one to look for such an accomodation?
