Hello…Can anyone tell me what it’s like for a white women from the US to live in Lahore? My boyfriend is from Lahore, and he may be moving back in a couple of years to take care of his parents. We have talked about marriage but he is concerned that I would become a prisoner there and that people would not treat me very well and that our marriage would eventually fall apart. Our love for each other is beyond comprehension and I want to spend the rest of my life with him, no matter where we have to live. I am willing to give up everything that I have here to move to Lahore with him, but I would like to obtain some insight into exactly what I can expect if I were to move there. What kinds of restrictions would be placed on me, in terms of lifestyle, career, etc. How would I be treated? How can I learn to speak Urdu? Or if anyone knows of any good websites where I could obtain additional information about Lahore, I would greatly appreciate it.

Ok, I've been to Sunday bazaar or Itwar bazar in Karachi Defence, it's big and I enjoyed it. Can I find the same thing in Lahore? I've been to the one in Shadman, but it's small and mainly only for foods/vegetables.

Hi I live in the UK and would like some info on the lifestyle of Pakistan especially Lahore as I am seriously considering moving there. I've been reading most of the messages posted on here and I'm really glad to know that there are people who can provide some well needed info. I was also wondering if there are any other folks out there in lahore who lived in say America or the UK and have permanently moved to Lahore. Am i right in saying one of those folks is bobbydigital? I've got family in Faisalabaad but i'm sure you all agree that it is really difficult for someone who has been brought up and lived all his life in the west to move to Faisalabaad.lol.

Also want to know about the development of Lake city on Raiwind road. I was thinking of buying a plot there and was wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be a sound investment or buy. I have a plot in Westwood colony and will be building a house there soon. I would love to hear from anyone that could help me out as I really have my heart set on moving to Lahore in the near future.

Hi, I am travelling to Lahore in Pakistan in April for 4 weeks and am looking for accommodation for 4 people, Husband, wife and two children, boys aged 12 and 15. I am looking for secure accommodation in area like Defence or Gulberg etc. Accommodations needs to be furnished with a cleaner. Any other advise on this trip would be helpful. I have been to Pakistan before and have distance family in Lahore.

could anyone recommend a good professional wedding planner in lahore, some one that has been tried and tested ,someone who can take care of all the arrangements from invites to the DAY, post contacts if have any.
Also is there still a ban on serving food in pak weddings openly. I find it ridiculous honestly and not that i am in favour of wasting money but i do feel that atleast a dish or 2 should be available for guests. appreciate the help

I am from Chennai, India. I am reaching Lahore on the 12th Feb. 2006 from Amritsar to witness Indo-Pak cricket match scheduled to be held on 13th Feb. I will be leaving Lahore on 14th Feb. to Amritsar. Can anyone suggest me in getting me a hotel/hostel room (in the economy range) near to the Gaddafi stadium during my stay. we will be visiting lahore in two months time and looking for a temporary accomodation. we have a disabled mother and hate staying in the hotels. a modern furnished accomodation will be ideal,should be a good size bathroom and sit up tiolet, no mess about or fuss, we are genuine and professional people from England.

How much are the visas to get in the country?

What shots do you need (other than taking malaria medication, and probably Typhoid).

Is English fairly well understood there? (I don't speak Urdu, but could learn a few words)

Hi everyone! Well I'm a Pakistani girl, but I was born and raised in Southern CA and am going to go to Lahore for medical school at the end of October. I know it's going to be a big change considering where I'm from, and I have a lot of questions. Most importantly, I'm a runner and I know I can just run the streets of my neighborhood and surrounding areas for miles, because it's a common practice for people over here. I was curious if people in Lahore just run in the streets or if that's something that's odd. And if it is.. are there gyms with treadmills and weights and whatnot? Also, I know it's hot over there in the summer, but how cold does it get in the winter because I want to know what kind of conditions to pack for. Finally, would it be considered odd if I wear my jeans and T-shirts and converse sneakers when I'm out in the city or is it a common practice? Thanks!
