I can't seem to find out how to get from Duluth to Copper Harbor via bus or boat or any means of transportation. Even Duluth to Hancock would work. Any ideas?
we are arriving in Minneapolis Friday, October 2, leaving Sunday afternoon, October 4. We like hanging out in fun and interesting, funky places, art museums, coffee shops, walking around and taking in the ambiance generally. What can you suggest....................
I'll be traveling to Minneapolis for a trade show next week and staying in a large downtown hotel. On Google Earth street view, this area looks like nothing but high-rise office buildings and big hotels. Are there any good independent bookstores, coffee shops, hole-in-the-wall ethnic eateries, funky boutiques or other interesting non-chain-store stuff to see and do in the Nicollet Mall, or within a reasonable walk/cab ride?
We will be visiting the Twin Cities in mid-September. Would we get better rates with a weekend package at some downtown hotel or at an outlying (suburban?) motel? Is there a big disadvantage to staying in an outlying area?
Thanks,
L2go
I've got Monday meetings in downtown Minneapolis and so will be hanging around Sunday and Sunday night. I heard most things are closed on Sundays. Is that true? Any suggestions for places for a Sunday in downtown?
Wondering if anyone could recommend a good gym to go for muay thai lessons? Will be in Minneapolis for 3 months for work and keen to continue muay thai training.
I am trying to get to thunder bay from minneapolis. I do not mind hiring a car but any car rental that I have tried does not facilitate between these two places. Can you help.
Is there a train that one could get. One that ensures that you can still take in the scenery between the two places or is there a bus.
I am going to the 2009 PGA tournament which is 8/10 - 8/16. There are two couples and we'd like to find a place on the water within an hour drive of Hazeltine. Does anyone have suggested places to try?
best marina Posted: Mon August 4, 2008 04:00 PM UTC
We are planning to launch a boat and sit on the water near bayfront for the Blues festival. I have found two marina's that appear to be close and have what we need for we need for facilities. Spirit Lake and Barkers Island.
Which is closer, or better situated to launch from? Are either close to food and entertainment areas?
I am coming to minnesota this weekend august 2, 2008. I want several places to party. I like dancing. I am 50 but I dance like I am 35. Prefer music in top 40 class. No country music. Like rhythm and blues and love to shake my rump to the funk. I also want to visit the mall of america. I am planning on staying downtown at the marriott. Any suggestions!!
would anyone of you like to go to Mount Rushmore on July 3rd and July 4th for the Independence Day celebrations?
I will be on a Greyhound trip through the US. Since bus service between Sioux Falls (South Dakota - close to Minnesota border) and Rapid City as well as public transportation around Rapid City is very rare, I will rent a car in Sioux Falls on the morning of July 3rd and drive over to Mount Rushmore.
If anyone wants to join me going west on July 3rd and/or going east on July 4th, then please let me know...
I bought a through ticket from Appleton WI to Shanghai mainland China by way of Minneapolis and Tokyo. I want to made sure that do i need to claim my baggage and recheck in at Minneapolis airport when i proceed to get my connecting flight there? Thank you?
I'm coming to Minneapolis from July18 to 21 for an important family event- that is if I canget an airlines ticket that won't leave me homeless. Any ideas?
My parents-in-law are flying from Europe (Finland, to be more specific) to the US in June. For the return flight, my mother-in-law is somewhat worried about the time between connections; there is 1.5 hours between landing (flying Missoula -> Minneapolis) and the transatlantic connection (Minneapolis > Amsterdam, Holland).
Is there anything to be worried about? Is this enough time to move between (possibly) terminals and gates? They are both 60+ and my mother-in-law has a knee condition so they have to have time to walk in a normal fashion.
I'm in Minnesota soon on business and whilst I'm there would like to check out a few bars that might be up for hosting live music evenings sometime soon....
As a sideline I am involved with 3 marvellous young up and coming UK indie guitarpop bands and would like to set up a mini tour in stateside bars/venues...
Any recommendations on bars that might be worth checking out...
All ideas gratefully recieved
I am getting married on one of the paddleboats in Stillwater and I am trying to find a unique wedding favor (for about 75 guests) that ties in Stillwater and the boats. Does anyone know of anywhere I can find mini paddleboat "trinkety" things (for less than $3/piece)?
We are flying from the US to England in June, with a layover in Minneapolis. The flights have recently changed and we've gone from a 3 hour layover to almost a 9 hour one. I've heard there are shuttles from the airport to the Mall of America. Is a 9 hour layover enough to get to the Mall, have a meal and a quick look around, get back to the airport, through security and onto an international flight? If so, are there lockers available in the Minneapolis airport large enough for 3 carry-on pieces of luggage (we were not planning to check our bags)? Thanks!
We are coming to Rochester for 10 days soon. Are there lots of taxis in Rochester that are easy to flag down on the - or is it hard to get a taxi easily in the city? If it is hard, we will hire a car.
Thanks and best wishes

Hi, I was born in Duluth 54 years ago. My family moved to Indiana when I was almost 3, but we visited while I was a child, and now I feel a yen to visit with my nine year old daughter and niece. I am disabled by arthritis. Any suggestions about things my girls can do with out crippling me? Any suggestions about kid friendly -places to stay? We would like to come in summer when the raspberries are ripe. My mother went into labor with me while she was making raspberry jelly, and I have always loved the exquisite berries, and now my girls do too. Our income is moderate. I would so appreciate advice and suggestions! Thank you, Tigerlille PS I am a single parent,
We need to fly to MSP for a christening in May. the flights are outrageous..about $300 rt. I tried Expedia, Orbitz and cheaptickets, but all are about the same. Anyone know of any discount airlines that fly this route?
My 8 year old son has Spring break from March 28th to April 5th. We live in Eden Prairie, Minnesota and have been to the Mall of America, Children's Museum. Could you suggest some places around Eden Prairie (up to 200-250 miles of travel is also fine) that we could go so that he can enjoy Spring Break.
What is going on in town? Anything suggested? We've visited often with friends for a relaxing weekend. Right now we are thinking Omnimax. A night out for dinner. Visit some of the eclectic shops on Superior, Miller Hill Mall. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Any one have any idea of where to have currency exchanged with reasonable rates? I wont be able to use the currency exchange places in the airport since they typically wont carry the currency I'm looking for (I'm headed to the middle east). I heard that the Wells Fargo downtown is a good place to go but since I'm not a customer not sure if they will be all that reasonable.
Hello all,
we have one day to spend in Minneapolis. What do you recommend we do? Looking through here, I've come up with two main attractions: Mill Ruins Park/Museum and Minnesota History Center. Any comments on these or other suggestions? No shopping please. This is for next weekend, Fri-Sat Nov 7/8.
Thanks!
I am planning a trip to Minneapolis in May 2008, to SCAA annual conference.
It will be held at Minneapolis convention center.
I was thinking of staying at super 8 hotel golden valley,6300 WAYZATA BLVD
Golden Valley, MN.
Is this part of minneapolis safe and what would you recommend, where to stay?
Can You please tell me fastest and best ways to reach minneapolis convention center?
Are there any close bus or subway stations near that hotel?
I will be in the Minneapolis area for a conference in late October. Since I will be at a conference with a shuttle bus service during the first two days, I won't need a car but I might want one for the weekend. However, I would like to not bother with a car rental at all. I will be staying around 494 and 100. All I really want to do is see Downtown Minneapolis, Mall of America, and possibly a college football game. I do not mind a bus ride of up to 45 minutes, but longer than that, the car and the interstates become more tempting. Is it possible to see a bit of the area with reasonable length rides on public transit?
I just moved to Minneapolis from NYC (Brooklyn gal all the way). I grew up in Park Slope and lived in Fort Greene for the past 3 years if anyone is familiar with those neighborhoods.
I think I'm deciding between a huge huge house in Kenwood with roommates
(like a half mile or 10 minute walk to the 6 or 2 bus stop to the U and 10-15 minutes to
Walker) or a much much smaller apartment building complex with a
roommate in Uptown right by the bus hub,the Y, etc.
Do you know anyone who lives in Kenwood by
chance? It's a huge place with a fireplace but seems kind of far from
things happening. (though I'm just spoiled by NY I guess). How are buses here in the winter? I'm going to grad school at the U, and heard parking is a pain in butt anyway so I'm not sure if I'm going to bother with a car.
Thanks! Send me a line if you know anything.
Oh and if anyone knows of a place to get a knish, egg cream, real NY pizza or some good empanadas.
Two mid-30's women are ditching the husbands and kid and heading into Minneapolis for three days at the end of August. We'll do a perfunctory cruise through the Mall, some shopping in Uptown and have breakfast at Hell's Kitchen.
Where else should we go? Specifically, what are some great restaurants for gossiping and giggling and catching up over drinks? I know that we'll eat at Chino Latino one night, but that leaves two other dinners and lunches and I need some inspiration.
Thanks!
