Kathmandu Travel Safety
Posted: Wed January 23, 2008 03:06 PM UTC
Hi all,

A friend and I are hoping to do a trip to Nepal & Tibet this summer, but noticed that there's a travel warning on the US Dept of State website for Nepal. Does anyone know how dangerous it really is in Kathmandu or Nepal in general? We'd really only be in Kathmandu and then on the roads to Tibet.

Thanks!

Kathmandu Kathmandu in December
Posted: Wed October 10, 2007 06:04 AM UTC
Hi everyone.
I am planning on going to Kathmandu from Dec 25 till Jan 5.
My main interest is photography, and would definitely be interested in some trekking.
I need to know if it's a good time to travel there and how "cold" it would be... Will I need really heavy clothing?
Thank you.

Hi, I will be travelling from Delih to Kathmandu in January and am interested in getting hair extensions. I am wondering if anyone has had their hair done in Delih or Nepal and can provide some details on them (where to go/price/how the hairdresser attaches the hair). Thankyou.

Kathmandu Going from Kathmandu to Delhi
Posted: Sun September 23, 2007 10:44 PM UTC
Hello,

I will be travelling in Tibet and Nepal around until around 10th Nov. My flight back to Amsterdam leave from Delhi but all the flight from Kathmandu to Delhi seems to be fully booked and it is very difficult to make contact with the local airlnes in Nepal and Delhi. I am getting concern about how i am going to go to Delhi I have read that by road is not so safe. Does anybody know if it is easy to find means to do that trip either by local airline or by road? Do you know of any local airlines agency i can contact.

Your feedback would be highly appreciated. Thanks and enjoy your travel

Cheers.

Kathmandu Taxi Prices

How much should I pay for a taxi from the airport to Thamel? Should I pay a pre-pay stand, or agree on a price with the driver, or use meter?

Kathmandu Travel to China
Posted: Tue September 11, 2007 06:07 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm currently working in Kathmandu and looking to travel to China around 10th-15th October. I'm on my own so it would be great to meet anybody else who is heading in the same direction. I'm considering flying to Shanghai and travelling up the coast to Beijing, though I have no fixed plans so far (to be honest I haven't really looked into it - there may well be a more interesting route). If you fancy meeting you can email me at butidontlikecarrots@hotmail.com or call me on 09803 446264 (Mero Mobile).
Look forward to hearing from you,
Joe x

Kathmandu Quiet and central hotel in Tamel/Kathmandu
Posted: Sun July 29, 2007 06:56 PM UTC
Hi,

I will stay in Kathmandu about 10 days. I need a very quiet (no traffic noise, no musics at night) hotel in Kathmandu (not necessarily very budget - 20...40 USD/night), with hot water, air condition or heating, etc. (I am very noise sensitive. Can anyone recommend a good quiet hotel in Kathmandu?
Is it a good idea to stay in Thamel? (Rough Guide writes that it is a long walk from all the sightseeing points. So, it is something like Khao San Road in Bangkok - tourist ghetto?)

Do people use a water purifier with ceramic filter like the Katadyn Hiker in the Himalayas? Is it effective on its own or do you still need to add chlorine to the water?

Hi to all,
I have a plan to visit Kathmandu during the summer (July & August). Some friends have recommended Potala Guest House. Has anyone stayed there? Is it guest friendly? I shall be meeting an old GF and she intends to stay with me in the room. Do they allow that? Your assistance is very much appreciated.
