Maine Bar Harbor/Nova Scotia
Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 01:48 AM UTC
We are planning a trip to Maine and Nova Scotia for summer 2009.
We are outdoorsy types that would love a true New England experience.
Do you have any lodging recommendations for Bar Harbor and Yarmouth?
2 adults, 2 teenagers. We plan to hike Acadia, take the CAT ferry to
Nova Scotia, other than that... no set plans.

Suggestions?

Maine Southern Maine with the kids?
Posted: Tue July 22, 2008 04:15 PM UTC
I have been looking around for somewhere to take a vacation with my kids. I really want to go to Kennebunkport, and I have come across The Maine Stay Inn. I visited their site, www.mainestayinn.com, and it seems great! I even called and the innkeepers were so nice. I want my kids to experience staying at a real New England Inn. Has anyone been there recently? I know they have new innkeepers, so more recent visitors with feedback would be great. Thanks so much!

Hello,

Our family, two girls ages 7&9, are staying at the Juniper Hill Inn and would apprecate dining recommendations with a view featuring lovely water views and delicious New England seafood - mussels and chowder soups are our favorite!!

Plus, when and where does one obtain Maine blueberries and yummy preserves?

Maine First trip to Maine
Posted: Mon July 7, 2008 08:21 PM UTC
Planning on traveling to Rockland for the annual lobster festival in 2009.
Since this is our first trip to Maine my wife and I want to be able to experience the best the mid coast area has to offer. We like antiquing, casual shopping, and historical settings and museums. I especially want to see small fishing ports and any thing maritime. So my questions: Is this a good time to come to the mid-coast area or is there a better time that won't be PACKED with tourist like us. Also, would like some recommendations from seasoned travelers to this area for accommodations and quaint dining experiences, especially lobster! Ok... lobsta!
Thank you for your replies.

Are fresh lobsters available in Maine all year round? If so, do the prices go up in the summer?

Are there any scenic roads that run from Boston, MA to Portland or Freeport, ME?

we've got 5N, 6D to make trip to Maine and possibly add Boston. Pl. advise:
1. Arrive in Portland Sat. 5th July Should we just drive up north closer to Bar Harbor or spend the night in Portland?
2. Spend 2N in Bar Harbor & Arcadia. Hotels/BB to recc?
3. Leave for Boston on 8th July - stay in cape cod area. What's the driving distance/time from Bar harbor/Portland to here? Any hotel to recc?
4. leave Cape Cod for Albany (stay with friend) on 11th July

Maine Acadia N.P. affordable accommodation
Posted: Thu May 29, 2008 09:31 PM UTC
I'm looking for a nice yet affordable place to stay with an easy access to Acadia National Park. Bar Harbor would be great but I don't mind something more out of the way provided that the scenery is nice and the hotel/inn/B&B rate is not too high. Are there any nice places to stay on the waterfront that won't set you back too much please?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Bar Harbor Visiting May 16th-20th...things to do?
Posted: Wed May 14, 2008 01:34 PM UTC
Hi all,

My wife and I will be staying in Bar Harbor May 16th - 20th...this will be our first visit there. I realize that it's early in the season so I'm looking for ideas of things to do. We plan on a trolley and boat tour and we hope to check out Atlantic Brewery. From this site I see that Galyn's, Geddy's, and Rosalies are good places to eat. What about nightlife this time of the year?

If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions of places to see or do please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

jeff

Maine Seaside Cottage
Posted: Thu May 8, 2008 02:03 AM UTC
My parents are going to visit Maine in June and they are hoping to find a small, quiet cottage/cabin like place to stay. They are looking for something on the coast. They will most likely fly into Portland and would probably be open to driving a few hours to get to the location.

Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.

Maine Secluded beach towns in Maine?
Posted: Sat March 29, 2008 07:14 PM UTC
My friend and I are planning a trip to Maine this summer, and what we're really looking for is a quiet, secluded little town right by the coast. Some place that isn't overrun by tourists, but simply a small town. It doesn't need to have any attractions or even restaurants.

I'd love any hints and tips-- especially from Maine locals!

Bar Harbor Best campgrounds?
Posted: Thu March 20, 2008 01:38 PM UTC
We are planning to visit Acadia at the end of may/early june. I've searched all campground websites, but would love suggestions from others. We would prefer the National Park feel - very woodsy, but I notice there are no showers. Would love oceanfront as well, but having a hard time deciding if oceanfront sites are reservable and private enough, without that paved/grass feeling. Thank you!

Portland Best dates to go in summer
Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 12:19 PM UTC
I am planning a two week stay in Portland this summer where I will be working a bit and "playing" a lot. I have a choice of two different time frames in which to go, but I need help in deciding which is best. I can either go in the first two weeks of June, or the first two weeks in July. Is there a big difference during these dates as far as 1) number of tourists, 2) weather in general, 3)fun events going on, 4)markets, restaurants, museums, sites being open, 5)beach weather 6)just general overall "feel" of the place. Mostly, I am concerned about #3, and #4 above because I don't want things to be closed up (especially in early June) if locals feel that it isn't quite summer yet. Any and all responses are welcome!

Posted: Sat October 13, 2007 12:57 AM UTC
Hello! We are taking a late, but well-earned (mini) vacation along the coast of Maine next week to see the foliage and light houses, weather permitting, and I love huge crashing waves. What's one of the best places for ocean photos, and a good sea shore hike? Oh I almost forgot-- a good beach for sea shells?
Also, has anyone been up as far as The Bay of Fundy? It looks like a great place to visit! Maybe next summer...Thanks,Carol

Hello... My family and I are traveling from Wisconsin to Maine for ten days at the end of august and from everything I've been reading, there is alot to see and do. I am interested in the coast and wonder if anyone knows of an area that is especially nice for searching for seashells and sand dollars? If anyone has any other input on things we should see and do please let me know. Thank You.

Maine Bike trail on middle coast
Posted: Wed July 18, 2007 02:56 PM UTC
We are going to be spending a couple days touring the middle coast in September. Primarily between Boothbay and Bar Harbor. Can anyone recommend a bike trail along the coast? We will have a car, but will need to rent bikes and possibly a rack. We are only going to have to time to do this once on our short trip, so we are looking for the best. 12 - 15 miles is plenty.

Thank you!
