Black Rocks Posted: Sun June 28, 2009 01:54 AM UTC
My son and I spent Christmas in Kihei two years ago. When we got back to Texas, I noticed my son had brought back some black rocks. Since then, we have had some financial problems. Then I remembered about the legend of the black rocks bringing you bad luck. I have been wanting to return them, but I don't know where. Can anyone give me an address so that I can return them? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks y'all.

So much wonder and beauty so little time.... Posted: Sat June 27, 2009 10:19 PM UTC
Any suggestions on the "Must see and Do" in Kauai? My husband and myself are leaving on July 3rd for the vacation of our dreams. THis was a last minute trip so I haven't had much time to research the area. We love the outdoors and great food. Snorkeling, zipline, kayak, hiking, body surfing and oh yea relaxing. We will be staying at a time share in the Princeville area.
Thanks in advance for any travel tips. I have been going over a copy of Kauai Revealed and now think 1 week is only going to scrape the surface.

Maximum Guests in Room Limits? Posted: Sun June 21, 2009 08:14 AM UTC
Aloha, I have a question on hotel room limits in Waikiki. We are planning to travel to Waikiki in late November. There will be 2 adults and 3 children all aged under 5. It would seem that the extra child is cutting down our options in terms of where we can stay. Are these limits set by the Hotel themselves or is this a legal requirement. One of the hotels we looked at has a limit of 4 guests but has 2 double beds and a pull out sofa bed. I would like to think that this would be more than enough for us.
Can anyone shine some light onto this?
Thanks in advance.

I am thinking of booking an Ocean View Studio with kitchenette at the Castle Ocean resort in Waikiki. Has anyone stayed there? We are 3 adults & need a bit of space as well as 2 double/queen beds. Do you know of any similar hotels approx same cost.
Thanks

Best Room/Should I Upgrade? Posted: Fri June 12, 2009 04:49 PM UTC
I booked my room (Hilton Resort and Spa) through a travel agent, I am not sure what room or view I have, should I expect to be in the cheapest room available? Will my Travel Agent know what view/room? Should I ask for an upgrade? I want a great view and a really nice room. Does the hotel automatically upgrade once I arrive? Let me know, I want this to be the best vacation ever--since I am taking my mom on HER dream vacation; she is 71 years old and has wanted to go to Hawaii since she was a young girl. Thanks

Leaving for Oahu friday need a place to stay suggestions? Posted: Tue June 2, 2009 10:00 PM UTC
I will be staying in Oahu June 6-13. I am looking for a place to stay that is a bargain. I don't want to stay in a dump, a good clean room fairly renovated will do. I'm looking to do some snorkeling, beach, biking...
Any recommendations??? Thanks so much.

Maui in July Posted: Mon June 1, 2009 12:56 AM UTC
We are heading to Maui in July ... pretty stoked since I haven't been there since late 90s and my wife has never been there at all. Just had a couple questions ...
Is there surf in Ka'anapali, specifically, in front of the Ka'anapali Ocean Inn? (http://www.kaanapalioceaninn.com/)
Do you need a 4-wheel drive car to make it up to the peak of Haleakala?
Thanks!

Best part of island? Posted: Mon May 25, 2009 01:57 PM UTC
We're looking at a 7 - 10 day visit to Kauai this summer. My wife, myself and our 11 year old son. Not sure what part of island to stay on. We are looking to relax but also want to be near restaurants, etc. Were originally looking at Kapaa or Lihue. Want to avoid traffic congestion as well. Any suggestions as to what shore / town we should stay in? Thanks.

Interisland Transfers Posted: Mon May 18, 2009 06:22 PM UTC
I am looking at flying into Oahu since it is cheaper to fly there, but ultimately I would like to spend some time in some less touristy areas, such as Kaui or Maui. I noticed that the superferry recently stopped running there, so I was wondering what the best way to get around.
I would prefer to take the scenic route if there is any other boats / ferries that run or am I stuck looking for flights? And if so, what airline would you recommend?

Can we walk from... Posted: Sat May 16, 2009 04:34 PM UTC
Can we walk from Kahalu'u Beach Park to White sands or Magic sands beach on the Kona side of the island? How far is the Kona Village Luau from Kahalu'u Beach Park? Also, we are looking to rent a house in Puna area at Opihikae that has screens instead of glass windows. Is this common? Are the mosquitos bad in this area? The house is very close to the beach there. Would this be safe for two women traveling alone?
Thanks,
O

Kayak Rental Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 05:04 PM UTC
Can anyone suggest places to rent 2 person Kayaks in the North Shore area? I know about SeaNSurf but was wondering if there are any cheaper places. We need 3 - 2 seat Kayaks for 1/2 a day. SeaNSurf will not let us reserve them so just want some other options in case they are out! Thank you!

Polynesian Shores 126 Posted: Tue May 12, 2009 05:00 PM UTC
My family and I had the most spectacular time in Maui. Greg Salmon the owner on unit 126 at Polynesian Shores provided us with some great tips for our trip. We drove around the west side. Did a early morning sunrise at mount haleakala. We snorkeled at mile 14. We even went on a pacific whale foundation whale watch. The best thing was the Deck over the ocean. Word cannot describe this. We spent each evening down on the deck BBQing our diner and watching the sunset. We met some wonderfull people there who seem to come each year. We already booked for next Whale season. Thanks Greg

Taxi from Airport to Kailua Posted: Mon May 11, 2009 04:27 PM UTC
Aloha,
We are returning to Hawaii (we went in 2005) at the end of June and currently looking at our lodging options. Anybody knows how much it would cost for a taxi from Honolulu Airport to Kailua??
Once there, I think there is a bus route that goes through Kailua and we can get pretty much around the island from there by bus, right?
Would it be better to rent a car? We want to look at saving some $$$ so we thought we could rent a car only when needed once in Kailua.
Are there any car rentals agencies in Kailua?
Any answers or advice would be appreciated.
Mahalo,

Help!! 9 nights, flying into Maui from NYC Posted: Sun May 10, 2009 04:16 PM UTC
My wife and I just booked our flight from NYC to Maui, never been to Hawaii before. We are both in our mid-late 20s and married under 1 year. We love adventure. My wife loves beaches! We would greatly appreciate some help with planning and getting the most out of our trip. From my brief research I am in interested in Volcano National Park, swimming with dolphins, and Molokai. Any itinerary, tour company, hotel or other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Can't wait to visit Hawaii!!
We are departing NY on May 26 and heading back home on June 4th.
Thank you!!!

Leaving valuables in your rental car? Posted: Sat May 9, 2009 01:30 AM UTC
All the guides I've read say not to leave valuables in your rental car on Oahu, because of all the car break-ins. My question is, what do you do with your stuff if you drive to a beach and go swimming? My husband and I are going alone and won't have anyone to watch our stuff on the beach. I know you can get waterproof fannypacks for things like your wallet, but my husband will be bringing with him a big backpack with expensive camera equipment. I've looked into travel insurance but couldn't find anything that covered theft for a higher value than about $500, which wouldn't nearly cover the cost of replacing his equipment. Leaving the camera stuff at the hotel would defeat the purpose of bringing it with us at all, so... Any advice???

California to Hawaii - possible ? Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 06:55 PM UTC
We are travelling to San Francisco in June and will stay with friends in San Jose. We would absolutely love to travel to Hawaii for a couple of days but just don't know where to start !
Is it possible- and not terribly expensive to book up a package ( flight and hotel ) from San Francisco or San Jose ? Which island should we fly to ?
I would hate to be so near and not have the chance to see something of Hawaii - any tips or advice would be welcome.

From Garden Island to massive developments? Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 12:38 PM UTC
Hi all again,
I've read some comments about recent travellers that went to Kauai and the impression I got was that the garden island is pretty much disappearing under all this massive constructions of shopping malls, resorts, golf clubs, apartments... is that true?? If so which part of Kauai is the best place to go, where I can have a taste of the natural beauty of the island?
thanks!

Aqua Waikiki Wave or Ohana East Posted: Fri May 8, 2009 09:26 AM UTC
I want to choose between these two hotels in Waikiki:
1)Aqua Waikiki Wave ***
2299 Kuhio Avenue, (Formerly Aqua Coral Reef Hotel), Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96815
2)OHANA East ***
150 Kaiulani Ave, Honolulu 96815 USA
The price is almost the same. Anyone knows about them, where they are according to walking distance from main spots, beach, nightlife?
How easy is to reach them by bus from the airport?

20 days in Kauai Posted: Wed May 6, 2009 11:51 PM UTC
Hi everyone,
I'm planning to go to Kauai for about 20 days from London! I'm going on my own and I would like to know how safe it is for a solo traveller, also I'm a student so it will be a budget holiday therefore I need to find affordable and friendly accommodation in the island.
I really appreciate any kind of advice or useful tips that anyone could give me to carry on with my "little" adventure.
Thanks

Fedexing a bike in a box Posted: Thu April 30, 2009 05:59 PM UTC
Has anyone ever shipped a bike to any bike shopes in the Kahului airport area?
I'm playing with the idea of shipping my bike ahead of time to the area and paying a small fee to have a bike shop receive, store the bike box, and put my bike togethor for when I get there, followed by doing everything in reverse.
Any ideas?

East Coast of the Big Island? Posted: Thu April 16, 2009 04:22 PM UTC
Aloha! I am hoping someone can give me the scoop on the best place and area to stay on the east coast of the Big Island? My husband and I are staying 2 nights on the west coast (Kona) and then will head to the east for our last 2 nights. We fly in and out of Kona but our departure back to the mainland isn't until late evening so we will have the entire day after we checkout. We plan to do a boat or helicopter tour to view the lava and also some site seeing by foot in the Nat'l park. We would like to do the drive to see the amazing waterfalls, green sand beach, etc. but I am not sure if we should stay one night at the Nat'l Park and another in Hilo or both nights in Hilo or somewhere in between. I am also hoping to checkout the Hilo market before we leave. Really, we are just hoping to see the highlights in our short stay. Can anyone help with some recommendations or suggestions for our brief trip to the east coast? Much Mahalo! Bridget
