Pulau Perhentian Besar Transport from Taman Negara to Perhentians
Posted: Wed August 16, 2006 10:52 AM UTC

I am trying to find a means of transportation from Taman Negara to the Perhentian Islands.

I understand that there is a train connecting Jerentut near Taman Negara and Tanah Merah - however, it departs at nearly 1am and arrives at Tanah Merah at 5am - so, not ideal. Especially as I will be a solo female traveller and would prefer not to be roaming around in the middle of the night.

I have also heard that there are no direct buses from Taman Negara to the Perhentians due to restrictions on buses crossing over state lines within Malaysia - can this be true?

In any case all recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Pulau Perhentian Besar Snorkelling from mainland Terengganu
Posted: Sat June 10, 2006 04:12 PM UTC
I will be going on a holiday with my family to Terengganu next week and am staying in the mainland. Can anyone tell us how to go snorkelling from the mainland without staying in one of the islands? Are there any private operators that can take us for a day trip out for snorkelling from the Marang Jetty?

Pulau Perhentian Besar Which resort is the best?Is online booking safe?
Posted: Wed May 3, 2006 06:31 AM UTC
My family is planning a trip to the island in June. I've booked two resorts:Perhentian Island Resort (PIR) and Arwana Eco Resort. I've heard the beach at PIR is the best but PIR doesnt has TV facility in a room (which is vital because of world cup). Now I'm uncertain which one to choose. I'm also uncertain about online booking because I've to pay in advance (two weeks before arrival). Is it secure and safe?

Posted: Thu January 26, 2006 10:53 AM UTC
I was told by Transnational that they could drop me and my pals at Jerteh, coz we're heading to Perhentian to dive; but on the way back, im suppose to make my way from Jetty Besut to Tanjong Bus Terminal to board the bus coming back to Singapore.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me where Tanjong Bus Terminal is? and how far is it from Jetty Besut? How much by cab as well?

Thx alot

Pulau Perhentian Besar Cocohut or Flora Bay
Posted: Sat January 21, 2006 08:26 AM UTC
We are going for our long awaited vacation late april mainly for snorkelling. Since we have 2 small kids we need to bring the maid along.

Any suggestion which resort is better? Cocohut or Flora? I believe tuna bay is the best since they have interconnecting rooms but we kinda looking for lower accomodation price.

Plus whomever had stayed in cocohut, can u tell me how far is the sea view chalet to the deluxe rooms? I am planning to place the maid at deluxe room because she will be staying alone and other types of chalet seem a bit big for her.

looking forward to your suggestions

Pulau Perhentian Besar besar cocohut or tuna bay
Posted: Mon August 15, 2005 01:37 PM UTC
I'm planning a trip up on 9 sep from sgp. as the local agents only managed the higher valued resorts - which we do not seek, it's little choice we can make...there's tuna bay and cocohut - minus perhentian island and coral view, for our options. Any advice??? If possible, let me know if any bus co out there operates out to kuala besut from sgp.

Pulau Perhentian Besar Weather and Diving/Snorkelling Conditions on Perhentian
Posted: Thu March 17, 2005 08:31 PM UTC
Hi,

We're leaving to go to Malaysia on the 19th March but have seen people say in the forum that the weather has been bad but is ok on some days. I have checked loads of weather websites and the forecasts are all different!

If we were to go the the Perhentian islands we would ideally hope for clear skys, brilliant sunshine, and still seas where the water is clear for diving and snorkelling.

We're only going to be around the islands for 7 days so don't want to end up somewhere that's rainy or cloudy because even if 2/3 days were like this, that's half our holiday gone!

Have there been any days like this on Perhentian and is it best to go to the west coast islands like Langkawi or Pangkor for this sort of weather and snorkelling/diving conditoins as the east coast is still experiencing bad days???

Thanks!

Pulau Perhentian Besar Some queries waiting to clarify (Pulau Perhentian Besar)
Posted: Mon February 28, 2005 01:33 PM UTC
Hello guys,

ALOHA! We are a group of students, around 5-8 people, who would like to visit and spend our holiday at Pulau Perhentian Besar. We have decided to stay in Flora Bay Resort.

We are planned to stay in Family Villa during our 4 days and 3 nights trip to Pulau Perhentian Besar on 21-24 March 2005. Here are some of the queries we would like to ask.

1. What are the attractions and snorkeling sites that we should visit?
2. What are the costs if we would like to take part in the snorkeling trip? Does the price include the rental for the gears?
3. What is the cost if we want to hire a boat for a day trip?
4. What is the cost for us to go to Pulau Perhentian Kecil and Marine Park? What is the transport to Marine Park?
5. What type of cuisine does the restaurant offer? Is there any restaurant or eating corner other than the restaurant?
6. We would prefer to have a BBQ dinner during one of the night. What is cost per head? Does the cost include the equipment ad materials cost? What type of material do you provide?
7. What are the night activities that we can carry out?
8. What are the other recreation activities we can do during the evening? Do they provide flying fox, banana boat and canoe service on the beach? What are the costs?
9. Last but not least, what are the things we should beware of?

Thanks for the information and advices. We are looking forward to have an enjoyable moment in Pulau Perhentian Besar.

Regards,
Marcus

Hi folks,

me and three friends would like to go to Perhentian this February, namely from 20th to 28th February 2005 (that's in less than two weeks :)
Is Perhentian Besar open already?
If anyone has been there or knows, please tell me about it - or maybe someone knows where I can call or which website I should visit in order to find out.

Thanks a lot!

Hi,
I'm planning to visit Perhentian end Jan and intend to stay at Tuna Bay. Unfortunately, they won't open for the season until 1 Feb. So sad. Can someone suggest alternative of similar class and price? I would prefer a clean resort with decent facilities.

Thanks!
