Does anyone know if this new resort is open yet? Cheers

Hi everybody, I am from Holland and have planned a holiday to Pulau Redang mid september 2008. After reading many posts in this forum on the weather during this period I presume that it will still be okay.
Obviously I plan to snorkel during my holiday, and that is what my question is about. Do I understand correctly that the (marine?) authorities have forbidden the use of fins for people snorkling as from april 2006? If so, I presume that it is also not possible anymore to rent fins on the island for a snorkling trip.

Hi I live in Canada and I am visitng HK in mid March. I hope I can spend a few days in Redang Island to snokel. Anyone knows if there are any air+hotel packages available in HK? I cannot swim and I wore a life jacket when I snokelled in Maldives and Phuket. Are life jackets provided in the snokel trips in Redang or I should bring my own?

On top of Redang Island, can anyone suggest other places in South East Asia where a non-swimmer can enjoy beautiful underwater world wihtout going deep into the water? Your recommendation is greatly appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what the weather is generally like in Mid-March? I am hoping to have a few days of relaxing & snorkeling...

Hi, is anybody just came back from Pulau Redang can help me with this. I plan to go to Pulau Redang on 9/19/07 to 9/21/07. I heard people saying the sea is rough and therefore not safe to travel to and from Pulau Redang. Even though if you get in to the island, there will be no snorkeling activities. I hope these information is not true, cos I am really desperate to go.
Also, I will be departing from Ipoh, any bus leave from there, if so, please provide numbers and price range.

Hope to get some answers if anyone of u knows ,or just came back from trip to Redang :

-How's the wheather for the last few days ?

-Is New MPKT Bus Terminal the same location as last August,which's walking distance to Shahbandar Jetty ?

- To anyone just stayed at Berjaya's resorts, Are those new chalets before the guard house to Berjaya's resort ready ? The place has been cleared last year when we were there.

-What about the malay food stalls beside, are they still there ? Any additional
stalls ?

-What about snorkelling near the resort : We did snorkelling a bit far out at both left and right side of the resort, left nearby the wooden floating platform and saw corals and quite a lots of fishes and 3 baby sharks, are they still there ?
Whereby on the right side, we reach the other side of a short stretch sandy beach and there was this huge school of fish, hundreds or perhaps thousand swimming around us in the water nearby, any one seen it recently ? Just wonder if they are still around and can't wait to go again next week when i'm there !

anyone knows how's the weather recently at pulau redang? i'm looking to travel early august, but the weather here in sgp seems unusually rainy these couple of days. am wondering if the same is happening at redang? if anyone can help asap it'll be great as i have to confirm with the resort within these one or two days. thanks!

i will be going to redang this september but still deciding which resort to take up. i have only a budget of RM600++ or RM700++. i am very interested in laguna but then again, to suit my budget, i would need to take the bus from kl to kuala terengganu which will take me 7 hours. however, i just discover that a travel agency offers 600++ including air fare(air asia) and 3d2n package stay at redang beach resort. and so it all comes down to comparing laguna and redang beach resort. can anyone tell how big is the difference from the two resorts as i know the beach would not make a big diference anyway for they are at the same stretch of beach...

Going to redang via star cruise...so i wonder wat can i do while i visit redang... heard that they will drop us at Laguna resort... care to share what are the MUST-DO, MUST-EAT, MUST-SEE ? think i will stay there for half a day... TIA

Do you have to go with a package deal when staying at Redang?
Are there many restaurants to visit or do people stick to their resorts. We want to dive also. Are there independent dive shops or all linked to resorts?
Any you would recommend? All have advanced open water PADI or more.Also one snorkeller.

We will be going to Redang on this coming May 25-27.
Ten of us had registered(4f and 6m)

Well, thinking of having more people will be more fun.

I'm planning to go Redang in this coming holiday season, Oct.

This is my first trip, am thinking to stay in Berjaya Redang Beach. Just wonder:

1) Is is advisable to go Redang in Oct? will it be rainy or monsoon season??

2) Besides Berjaya, which other hotel/ resort would you recommend?

going with Berjaya coz of the Berjaya flight package from KL/SIN, going with Laguna coz of the flight package direct from HK... the latter is almost full board included.

Since i'm from HK i don't really have a clue how those islands look like, save that redang apperas in Summer more more tea the film, which is apparently very attractive.

But how about Tioman? As attractive or less? in terms of dining and diving.

Could anyone please help!

I'm organizing a trip to Redang Island for a group of 75 college students. I'm looking for a package which includes transportation from KL to Merang and vice versa with an estimated budget of around RM300 sometime around May 2007.

I'm considering the Redang Kalong resort specifically.

I've checked out the place and a triple-shared chalet costs around RM320 per person. Is there any possibility of a lower price should I have 4 in a chalet then?

Any advice, anyone?

As mentioned as title, is it possible if I don't wanna join in any tourism agency, neither book hotel in advance?

Since we can only make a short trip(2D1N), it's not good for us to join in the tour agency (most for 3D2N at least). We're supposed to depart from KUL by coach(Putra Bus Terminal) to Kuala Terengganu(KT) overnight of 11th Aug (arrival time:6am around);and back KUL at Sunday 13 Aug.

By the info I got from VT Forum (thanks a lot!), Here comes questions::::

1) From KT bus station to Merang Jetty,we can easily get a cab(RM20/30), isn't it?

2) Can we get Taxi Boat to Redang Island by ourself(like public transport sys), Is it all the boat are pre-arranged by the agency, which means I can't ferry unless I join in an agency? If I can, How much is the ferry fare/person from Merang jetty to Redang Island? (I prefer bringing cash along.)

3) Can we get walk-in accomodation(since at that time not peak days), which is supposed to be cheaper and not need book/deposit in advance? Place like simple chalet etc... since we suppose to be there enjoying the beach not hotel/resort..

For those've been there recently, can you kindly post the Ferry daily schedule, then I can book the bus ticket back to KUL in advance...Thanks...

We are coming to Redang in a few weeks time and found out, that our hotel (laguna) doesn't have mosquito nets over beds. Do we need to bring our own, or are there not that many mosquitos there?

hello!Its a interesting n useful website for tips to redang.I am planning to go redang with my family(about 12 of us inclusive of parents+2 kids) 21-24 march 2007,it is advisable to go at end of march, noted march is still the monsoon season for east coast. Thinking of renting apartment/chalet,would it be cheaper compared to the conventional 3D2N package?can anyone recommend where to stay? by the way we plan to go KT by AirAsia(Weird timing),I would appreciate if anyone can recommend any hotel/agency that can make special arrangement for boat tranfer to accomodate Airasia flight timing arrive at 8.05am,depart at 8.30am/21.05pm,Any other suggestions are welcomed, thanks in advance!

I found this funny forum and I would like ask you something about Redang.
I have a lot of question.. I hope that somebody could help me! Also because I would like go there on 13th august with my hausband for 10 days!

- what is the best form Berjaya redang beach resort and Laguna Redang resort?
- have both resort a nice sea/beach?
- the food is good? And the are they cleaning? What do you suggest me?!
- Can I go on to swim or "laze" in the sea from the beach or there are some coral near the waterline and I have to go distant form that ?? I make only snorkelling and not immersion.
- I would like go to Redang directly from Singapore, is it possible? It is easy?
- Can I go outside the resort? It is dangerous ? What can I do there?
What do you suggest me??

Hi, I've been reading about Redang Island, but still don't understand how to get around on the island. Aren't there any roads and taxis? How do I get from one beach on the West Side to beaches on the East Side? Are there boat taxis? Are they expensive? I was thinking of staying at Berjaya Redang Beach Resort. Is this a good Hotel? How do we get from there to other beaches?
