Horse Riding at Batu Ferrighi Posted: Sun November 1, 2009 10:54 AM UTC
Was at Batu Ferringhi over the weekend, i went for a horse ride, the guy running the service said that it was RM30 per ride, then after i took the ride he charged me RM60 per person for 15 minutes, he gave a reason that he thought me how to ride the horse so it is RM60 if it was just a ride it would be RM30. How do they define ride? Is this a con job or is this the usual rate? if he's out there cheating tourist i would like to expose his name and his picture so that other tourist wont get cheated.

Penang Posted: Mon September 28, 2009 01:27 PM UTC
Hi,
I am going to Penang in November with my boyfriend. Can anyone suggest where is nice to stay? We would like a nice quiet area which is close to the busier areas if possible. If not open to suggestion!
I have looked at the beaches online and they look beautiful however I heard a few reports that the sea is not very clean? Is this true as we do want a beach holiday but with the advantage of great Asian food and local interesting places to visit. Can you swim in it?
Also how much is a local beer (tiger beer or equivilant) and how much is food over there? Trying to get an idea of how much money we will need.
Thanks any advice is most welcome!

airport pick-up Posted: Wed August 26, 2009 07:24 PM UTC
hello,
last time I had some good replies on my question, so this time I hope to get an answer aswell.
I booked a stay at Bayview Hotel (Georgetown) in October and asked them for a shuttle service from the airport, but the didn't have.
They can help me with a airport pick-up with an local agent.
But before I will ask them for help to arrange it, I would like to know if it's easy to get a taxi from the airport to Georgetown?
And does anyone know what price they ask? We arive in the evening.
best regards,
Petra

(a) which hotel is a good stay on top - Hotel Bellevue or another hotel?
(b) any chinese food at the hawkers centre
(c) can we bring along our luggage when we board the tram for the ride to the top?
Thank you.

I know this is a difficult quesion but I hope Penang Vters can help. My GF and I plan to bring our 2 dogs, a toy poodle and shihtzu for a vacation to Penang during the coming National Day celebrations. But I could not locate a hotel that will take in dogs. Can anyone advise any hotel or guest house that will allow dogs in? We are prepared to pay more and my dogs will definitely enjoy a stroll along Gurney Drive and eat some of Penang famous food!! We will be visiting in October - I've read that it is possible to hire boats to go to Monkey Beach (to avoid the long trek - not lazy just need to be economical with time :) ) Has anyone done this before and how? I see there may be a tour as well - any idea who the operator is?
Thanks in advance!

Taxi in Georgetown Posted: Tue July 21, 2009 01:00 PM UTC
Hi hi, is it easy to hail a taxi on the street? Do the taxis run on meter or do we need to negotiate the fare first before we hop in?
Alternatively I welcome recommendations for good, reliable taxi drivers where I can book for a half-day use.... please also share the estimated costs for private taxi booking!
thanks lots!!!

Georgetown directions Posted: Tue July 21, 2009 12:57 PM UTC
Hi, I'm going to Penang for work next week and am trying to fix some appointments with my clients in Georgetown. Would really appreciate if anyone can advise me on the following:
- From Traders Hotel TO Jalan Sungai Ujong (postal code: 10100 Penang): Please advise how I can get there. Is it far from Traders Hotel? Is this still within Georgetown?
- From Jalan Sungai Ujong TO Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah (Menara Boustead): How much would a taxi ride cost approximately?
- From Jalan Sultan Ahmad Shah TO Jalan Burma: Can I walk from Jln Sultan Ahmad Shah to Jalan Burma?
- From Jalan Burma TO Aboo Sittee Lane (postal code: 10400 Penang): I intend to walk to Aboo Sittee Lane as it looks pretty near on the map. Please advise if this is ok.
- From Aboo Sittee Lane TO Lorong Selamat (postal code: 10400 Penang): I also intend to walk to Lorong Selamat as it is 2 streets away, as shown on the map.
- From Lorong Selamat TO Lebuh Chulia (10200 Penang): Can I walk from Lor Selamat to Lebuh Chulia? Or is it advisable to take a taxi instead? How much would the taxi fare cost approximately?
This is my first trip to Penang and I am trying to squeeze all these appointments within half a day.
Thanks in advance for the help!

Penang to Ulu Legong Hot Springs Posted: Sat July 18, 2009 09:25 AM UTC
I read that the Ulu Legong Hot Springs is open 24 hours. I'll be staying in Penang for 3 days and would like to make a trip to the Hot Springs one night (around 8pm)
My question is - what bus, or mode of transport should I take at that time of evening (8pm and after). Do public buses run that late to and from Penang? What about taxis - how much would it cost approximately from Penang to Ulu Legong Hot Springs? I am a tourist, so do not have a car.
Thanks...

Grand plaza parkroyal Posted: Thu June 18, 2009 08:06 PM UTC
In recent holidays to Penang my wife and I have stayed at the Rasa Sayang.
Money being tight, we are thinking of the Parkroyal in Batu Ferringhi.
How much of a problem is the noise and disturbance and which rooms should we go for to avoid it?

Anyone for Car-Share in Penang? Posted: Thu April 30, 2009 10:02 AM UTC
Hi All!
I'll be arriving in PEN on Air Asia in the afternoon (07 May, staying till late 11 May) and plan to hire a car (prob fm the city area which is a lot cheaper).
I've driven around PEN previously (as I do in most cities I visit), it's pretty easy and much, much, much more convenient to get around that way, esp in Penang. I'll be travelling alone and have space for three-four more pax if anyone wants to share ... email me lenawang1605@gmail.com
Keep well!
