Ramona Blvd. Posted: Tue November 3, 2009 03:39 AM UTC
My husband and I will be visiting Florida and we are thinking of staying at the new Sleep Inn and Suites on Ramona Blvd. one night and going to the Market Place Flea Market on Ramona Blvd. Could you please tell me if this is a safe area? Or is the Comfort Inn on Airport Road in a safer area? Thank you so much for your input.
I am avoiding all the Orlando parks over the Christmas/New Year period. We have decided to do a couple of nights on the Gulf Coast over New year but this would mean doing Busch Gardens on either 1st or 2nd January - these fall on Friday and Saturday - are they likely to still be busy?
We are there for 4 weeks and are having a nightmare trying to sort out what we are doing and when as our family members are only coming for 3 weeks and a week of that is over Christmas and New Year so we need to avoid the parks!!!
Hello, can anyone give me some good, safe areas to check out for a 3-month-stay in the Orlando area? My husband and I are looking for 2bedrooms, a pool available, patio or screened porch. We will spend between $1000 and $2000 a month. Everything is so geared to the whole Disney vacation, I'm having difficulty just finding a quiet house or condo where we can live.We would like to be less than an hour from the beach and able to drive to the theme parks and Orlando itself. We are coming to the area Jan and staying through end of March. I know there must be places to look, but I can't seem to find them. Thanks for any help.
Hello! My husband and I (30-ish) are planning a 4 night stay in the Miami area in November. I will be six months pregnant, so we're not looking for a wild and crazy time. We want a clean place that is close to the beach. We have reservations at Newport Beachside, but now I'm wondering if we won't like that location. Will we need to drive every time we leave the hotel?
Would we be happier at Circa 39? I found a cheaper rate there.
Thanks for your feedback!
This thread seems very old but I am hoping someone still see it on occasion.
Will be in Florida the week of the 16th when a shuttle launch is expected to
go forward and I was wondering if there were good places to watch other than
paying at Cape Canaveral?
I am trying to make sense of the Miami transit map and cannot figure this out. Is there a relatively easy way to get from the port of Miami to Miami International Airport via a bus or train?
I was wondering how crazy it is this time of year and what off site hotels are great to stay at. Will be two adults and a 12 y.o.Maybe someone could suggest something else to do besides the parks if they are crazy. Thanks
I'm coming to an ms-holland cruise on march 2010. I'll stay at the regency airport hotel a day before the cruise, And then I need to get to Port Everglades.
I'm looking for a cheap way to get there, Since ms-holland shuttle will cost 60$, And a cab will cost 75$.
I saw the option to take a tri-rail train that takes me till fort lauderdale airport, And wondered if there's a cheap shuttle or something similiar I can take to get from there to Port Everglades.
Can someone confirm how easy it is to use travellers cheques in Florida, in particular Orlando?
I have been several times and never used them as in other areas of the world it proves a pain to get them exchanged and you end up paying twice on the exchange rate - once when you buy them and again when you exchange them!
Travel Insurance doesn't cover more than £200.00 in cash so it's risky carrying more - although this is what we normally do!
We have the option of taking it out at an ATM but then we often get charged £1.50 - £3.00 per transaction and if the exchange rate drops we lose out further!
So back to the original question, a friend of mine has just been to Orlando and like me he had never used travellers cheques, people he was with had them though and he said they were as easy as cash to use and he would definitely use them in future - he said there was no messing about trying to cash them in exchange booth etc etc and that they were taken everywhere!
We are planning a 3 week trip to Florida in June/July starting with a week in Port St Lucie then onto Miami for a week with a trip down to the keys staying over a night then back up to Orlando for a week I will be doing a lot of driving not just getting to the places we are staying at but getting out and about as well. So my question is what car to get should I go for a convertible or a premium/luxury and why? Also could I get 2 full size cases into a convertible 1 in the boot 1 in the back seat would they fit?
7 Weeks and counting until our month in Florida and I can't wait!
Can anyone help with the following query?
There are 11 of us travelling 6 Adults & 5 Children) and 3 of the 6 adults are students, one of them heard that if they have a UK NUS Card (NUS=National Union of Students) they could pay a small fee to upgrade to an International NUS card and that it will be recognised in America and get them discounts as it does here in the UK. Does anyone know if this is true or not?

I need some help to find a cheap flight from NY to FL (Miami, Fort Myers or Key West) in November.
Is there any "basic rule" for a cheap routing between NY and FL? I am flexibel to fly from "any" NY Airport to "any" FL Airport. I visited several websites, but normally they ask me to select one specific airport.
Anyone fly regularly between these two States who can help?
Another question, is it recommendable to book on short notice or better to plan well in time and book early?

We are renting a MPV with Dollar for our 5-day trip in Orlando. It says in the contract...TIME AND MIEAGE COVER ONLY...what does that mean?
1. Unlimited travel within the period of rental and unlimited miles?
2. UNlimited travel within the period of rental and chargeable mileage beyond an average day estimate?
Could anyone help us? Not exactly sure what it means.
Btw, i will drive from the Orlando Airport to Rolling Oaks Drive along West Irlo Bronson Hwy. Need to know....do I merge into Highway 535 from Florida Toll 417 and travel along W.Irlo.Bronson? Thanks
Does anyone know of any discounts or coupons for the Catamarans or seaplanes to the Dry Tortugas/Fort Jefferson? Any recomendations on which Boat? or seaplanes? Will be there mid-November. Thanks

Hi all
We arrive in Cape Coral on the 23rd December 2009 and leave on the 6th January 2010. We are a party of 4 adults aged between 39 and 54 and a 16year old boy. We are staying in a villa in cape coral, we have a car for the duration and a boat for 5 days. Can anyone give us any tips/advice on things to do, places to visit that will be open and accesible over this period. Please could you include journey times, costings, complications such as parking, mooring etc.
Also the big question...Where can we eat, drink and/or party on Christmas Day and New Years eve? we like good food, good music and lively atmosphere.
Also do you have Christmas Crackers (the ones that you pull and have a gift inside, not the edible ones) and if so where will I get some on the 23rd/24th if you do. I was going to bring some over but have been told I cannot due to the bang element in the cracker.
and last of all are taxi cab's readily available in the evening including Christmas day and new years eve in case the unluckily designated driver decides to partake of the vino with their meal....
Many many thanks for any response's.
We can't wait to arrive!
Hi, my son and i want to see a basketball match while we are in Miami for e Christmas week , as we already had bad experience with basketball in New York, we were sold fake tickets? I would like to ask how far this arena is and is it a safe place for to go out late in the evening and take a bus/taxi to osuth Beach
We are traveling as family of 6 headed towards Orland coming Nov. We want to purchase the 3-day pass at Disney and noticed that Florida residents get a special rate of $134 as compared to $219 (out-of-towners). We were wondering....
1. If I get a friend living in Florida to purchase for us this Florida resident's special, would the park management require EVERY INDIVIDUAL in our group to show proof of ID? Univeral theme-park doesn't require us to.
2. Or would they simply require the original purchaser to show proof when collecting tickets and let us through as normal tourists?
2. Are there any Florida VT members out there who could make a call on our behalf to inquire about this (we're overseas in Singapore). T
As you well can see...this is a hefty savings for a young family of 6! hahahah.
Our family will rent this summer a condo in Miami Beach.
My 18 years old daugther and her boyfriend will visit by themselves the bars in South Beach.
But I saw by google earth that is not nearly. We have a rental car but the youth have no driving licences. So they can go by bus perhaps one way.
1) But how do the get back to the condo in de late evening and early night?
2) Is it possible to walk te whole long bordwalk from SoBe to 5115 Collins Av?
3) What are the taxi prices and are there taxi´s enough?
4) Is is safe for them to travel so late to 5115 Collins Av?
5) Can they visit bars and disco´s with a 18 years old age?
I am looking forward to hearing your answers.
