Hi VT'ers! I'm going to the WOrld Series on Wednesday, and must wake up in, or near, Bridgeport on Thursday morning. While I am driving from the Bronx to Bridgeport, I need to drop somebody off at a MetroNorth on Thursday morning. I've been on Tripadvisor for the last 90 minutes, reading up on The Holiday Inn in Bridgeport, Hilton Garden Inn of Stratford, and Marriott in Trumbull. I gather that downtown Bridgeport is a slum, and that I'd want to stay in a safer town - especially as I'll be arriving at my hotel around 1am early Thursday morning. I'd like to keep it around $150. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!
For almost all previous travel I arrange hotel stays for the entire trip before we leave home. This time we would like to be free to move on when ready and stay longer when we enjoy the place.
The plan is to drive from Kitchener, Ontario to Coastal Connecticut and back.
What strategy do people use to find hotels along the way? What time of day to start looking? Are there many visitor information centers? Visit individual places to ask or phone?
we are the parents of a son who has been granted a live audition at the Opera Dept. of Yale!!!! we are so happy, but just 1 thing- we are from central illinois, the armpit of the nation. We know nothing of big city life and such. We 3 will be flying up and staying the weekend in February, wondering if it would be better to take a taxi around all weekend, of just rent a car at the airport? Isthere anything we must, or must NOT do? thank you!
Hello! We have two house exchanges organised for August and September 2009, the first one in Stamford, the second on Cape Cod. The third week in August, between exchanges, will be spent driving around Connecticut, staying in inns or B&Bs. Any help with suggestions for places to visit and not too expensive accomodation along the way would be greatly appreciated. We are a couple in our sixties, interested in seeing quaint small towns and villages, either along the coast from Stamford, or in the rural north east. We want to avoid driving in busy suburban areas - we live in rural France so I'm afraid we'd find driving in American cities very nerve-wracking! Thank you for your suggestions.
My husband and I will be spending the weekend in CT, and I'd like to go to the aquarium while he's golfing. Any suggestions as to where I might find discount coupons for admission? I don;t live in CT, so don;t have a library card, so that option won;t work. Thanks for any help you can provide!
My family and I will be travelling from Quebec city to New York city in mid October and have 3 days and 2 nights that we can't decide where to go and what to do. We really want to go to Hartford and surrounds. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Hi
We are driving up from Newark to New England for a camping holiday and we will be stopping off in New Haven on our first evening. We'll want to pick up camping supplies the following morning (headed for Burlingame State Park, RI) and wondered if anyone can tell me if there is a good store in the New Haven area for things like camping gas (for an MSR pocket rocket stove) and similar.
Also, which are the local supermarket chains in CT, RI, MA, etc. Do you have Albertsons, Safeway or others?
Hi there,
I'm planning a trip with 2 aunts and 2 cousins to visit my other aunt who lives in Connecticut. We will be staying in Connecticut for 1 month.
We will be planning to travel around the states to the different spots to explore as well as New York of course.
However, I have 1 MAJOR problem. ALL of us DON'T DRIVE.
Do anyone have recommendations on any private transportation/ mini tour van services I could hire that can bring us around the state?????
Please help me!!
Please give me some recommendations, or suggestions and if there's a price range do highlight to me as well.
Thanks!!!
Hi,
I live in New York and am meeting my father and brother at a hotel near Bradley Airport. Just wondering if there's a direct bus from New York to the airport, or if I'll have to take the Peter Pan bus to Union Station and then find me way to the airport. If so, does the Bradley Flyer leave from Union station? I couldn't tell from looking at the timetable. If not, how much would a cab be?
Hello friends, I need to travel from Boston to Trumbull, CT. Could you help me how do I travel- via a BUS or a Train and also could you give me details about where to find the details relating to the Bus or train bookings for this route???
I am hoping that someone can help me. My name is Krissa and I live in Iceland. I want to visit my daughter who is living in Danbury CT. I will be flying to JFK airport and I am looking for the easiest way to get from the airport to Danbury. Can anyone help me please?
It is my 9th month stay in this state (after moving from New Jersey) and I am surprised by few things: a) Price for things in a supermarket in New Jersey is equivalent to "Sale" price of same in Connecticut b) On same day, gas/petrol price is atleast 30+ cents more per gallon between the states (costlier even compared to New York city) c) Although a person has valid visa for 1 or 2 years, he has to buy a driver's licence for seven years fees [6 to 5 years extra charge] d) More construction sites [sorry, more construction red boards) in express ways, and hence more catches and fines e) Not enough public transport f) long traffic signal waits g) Trouble-some weather as pollen attack in spring and severe winter. Positives please??
I need some suggestions for inexpensive, but clean accomodations for one active 70ish woman and her nephew, arriving next week. They are visiting from a country whose currency/living standard won't allow spending a lot, but they would like to spend two days/one night sightseeing in NYC. They may be driving down from Boston. I would like to find clean (no bedbugs), comfortable accomodations either in Manhattan or perhaps in one of the coastal Connecticut towns on the route down from Boston that has commuter rail into the city. I'm open to other suggestions. This could be her only trip to the U.S. and we would like to make it the best possible, as she has graciously hosted us in her home country.
Hello,
I am a resident of West Hartford(Lower Bentwood Road) and I am a frequent visitor to Kilkenney Rock in the Reservoir. I've been hiking and running it for years, but I have no knowledge of why the rock is named what it is.
My searches have not yielded much other than there is a great cream ale named Kilkenney made by Guinness. Any info you can furnish for me would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks
We are looking for a nice place to stay around Litchfield. We would prefer a nice bed-and-breakfast and not a motel next to the highway, but don't want to pay $200 for a night. Any recommendatons?
I will be in Mystic, Connecticut as of Thursday, August30th, and would like a complete list of the shoppes in Olde Town Mystick. Also I would like to know if you have any Christian Book stores, and Health Food Stores in or very near Mystic. Thank you.
I am flying into Bradley Int. Airport and have a meeting in Newington. Please recommend a clean, comfortable, convenient hotel in Hartford, which seems to be a good halfway location, am I right? I see you have a river, are there any hotels on the water? Thanks.
I will be traveling with my husband and 4 yr son to the Hartford area the first week of September from the northwest. What things should we make sure we don't miss while we are visiting.
I'm looking to relocate to New England am will be checking out CT for a while. Where in your opinion is the best place to live in CT? Is the job market ok? How would you describe it in a nutshell? I live in Switzerland which is why I'm asking.
