I was just wondering if all the little shops and restaurants open all year round or is there fall/winter hours? I have friends coming to visit in mid Oct. and would like to show them the town of Cave Creek.
Does anyone know whether you have to reserve a tent site in Mather Campground even if sites are available when you show up.
We have been told conflicting info Online for this oct 16 weekend there are many sites available but you must pay the $10 fee to reserve by phone or online.
Can we just show up, get a site without reservation if sits are available, if full we are out of luck but seems nonsensical to pay to reserve if not full.
I would like to eat dinner at the restaurant with grand canyon view. Can someone suggest me some restaurant that is not too expensive (dinner $15-$25).
And what is the nice hotel to stay outside the park (south rim)?
would someone please recommend some great food places in phoenix????? we are not into fine dining...so anything except for that!!!! my husband and i love to eat!!

Los Angeles-> Phoenix-> Tuscon-> White Sand Nattional Park -> Carlsbad Cavern and drive back to San Diego
OR
San Diego-> Phoenix-> Tuscon-> White Sand Nattional Park -> Carlsbad Cavern and drive back to Los Angeles.
May I know where can I see saguaro cactus (somewhere where I can pull over and take a nice pics) along my route, without having to go to those national parks and botanic garden?
We are going to the Grand Canyon in November and would like to hike to the bottom. Have done alot of hiking in the Rocky Mountains. Do you need a guide?
I am fine tuning the itinerary for the forthcoming trip to AZ in November (less than 8 weeks now - yippee!). Can you tell me what time the tours of the caverns start in the morning?
In one week we are doing a day or 2 in phoenix, 1 day at canyon and then Los angeles...
Any mist see's or fun things to see or that you would like to sugest for ride?
I will be in Phoenix Sept. 15-20, I am travelling from Canada alone for a course at the Sheraton Crescent 17/18. I have two full days off to explore and have fun, I am trying to book a fishing trip for one of these days to do some fly fishing for trout, but unfortunately the trip I was hoping to do in Willow Springs is too far for me to get picked up by the guiding company in Phoenix and transported back to Willow.
Anyone here do any fly fish guiding for trout? or can suggest someone? If not what would it cost to go from Phoenix to Sedona in a Taxi? or can I book a private shuttle to take mt to sedona and pick me up at the end of the day? Sedona is where this Fish Guiding company meets with customers before going fishing and if I can just make it there I could still go on the Willow Springs fishing trip.
However if someone could offer any other guiding services I would be happy to consider them as well, I really want to fly fish for good size trout of any kind and would love to catch an Apache trout. Im 29 and in good shape so walking through rough terrain, streams etc... isnt a big deal for me. Any help/advice for transportation, but ideally fish guiding would be awesome!
My personal email is c_journeay@hotmail.com if anyone would like to speak privately and help.

Hi,
I'll be in Sedona alone for a couple of days this weekend, about to celebrate my 50th birthday, and I don't really want to just follow the tourist routine. I'd like to spend my time refreshing my spirit a bit before starting on the next 50 years, but, due to asthma problems, I might not be able to hike very far. I DO want to spend a generous part of my time there outdoors, though. Suggestions, anyone?
Will Anybody drive from Grand Canyon from Las Vegas to Oct 2nd 2009?
I want to share your car and also can share your rental and gas fee, although i can't drive.

We are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon in mid June. Hiring a car in Vegas and driving to Jacob Lake where we will stay for two nights leaving us one full day to explore some of the North Rim. Driving then to Needles via Flagstaff for one night and on to Palm Springs. My questions are: do we need to hire a 4WD vehicle? Apparently the drive from Jacob Lake to Needles is 6 hours and was wondering if this was roughly correct? We want to avoid crowds (that is why we are considering the North Rim) and want to see the best of the Grand Canyon. Are we on the right path for this? Thank you in advance for any responses.
Hello, I want to take a road trip with my wife and children from Denver CO to the Grand canyon, Bryce and Zion. Is a week enough? What is the best and quickest route? Thanks in Advance for any advice you can give us.
I will be in the Village of Oak Creek Sedona (Arizona) from 17 Sept - 26 Sept and need a recommendation of a good, cheap hotel and good value tours that will include Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Four Corners, Canyon de Chelly and the Hopi Mesas. Does anyone have experience in this area? I don't want to self-drive - on my own and wrong side of the road for me !!!
We (4 ladies) are going to be travelling around AZ in November - Tucson - Benson - Springerville - Chinle - Monument Valley - Lake Powell - Grand Canyon - Sedona - Prescott (maybe)- Phoenix (through or overnight only) - Tucson - Nogales - Tombstone - Chiricahua NM - and then onto a ranch for a week at the base of the Dragoon Mountains. I wanted a 4WD as we will cross through Middlemarch Canyon at some time as well as encountering dirt roads at various other points on our journey.
However, we will each have a large case and hand luggage with us (and maybe more by the time we are heading back to the airport) so what vehicle should we be asking for? I've done similar trips with one other person and on my own and the vehicle we had was perfectly adequate but I'm worried that with 4 of us even a bigger version might be very uncomfortable. Having said that I realise that US 4WD's can be pretty big.
So what model should we be asking for - maybe we don't need a 4WD and an estate would be better suited? Ideas please guys?
I've been to Vegas a couple of times, but this will be my first time with the wife. Planning on doing a day trip to GC (south rim) based on the advice given on this forum.
We are planning on renting a car and driving. Unfortunately, we only have a day, and it seems like it's going to be a pretty long day at that.
Couple of questions..
What is the parking situation during August? How early would I need to get there to not face parking difficulties?
Want to see the sunrise/sunset at the GC. Realize I probably won't see both unless I drive all night to get there (I'm not opposed to this).. which would you recommend and why? What would be the best point on the south rim to view?
If I do an all night drive, is there somewhere within the national park I can pull over and perhaps catch a couple of hours of cat nap?
What are your suggestions for places to visit for someone who has no car and relies on public transport? Are there many places of attraction that are easy to get to? Also, I would like any recommendations of anyone's favourite places to visit, acommodation and eating, as I am a student so need to keep costs to a minimum.

I was there a year ago, and asked about valenteer work and the person I talked to said I could do valinteer work . So I just wanted to make sure you were still taking valinteers.
We are scheduled to be in Sedona July 4th and the week following. Are there any fireworks going on in the area?
Also, our 13 year old son broke his collarbone, so his arm is in a sling, meaning limited activity. Is the Pink Jeep Tour really bumpy and a lot of jerking around, or is it relatively tame? I've read some reviews that say it is downright dangerous offroad driving, in which case I would not take my son on it. Also, I need some ideas for activities he can participate in; horseback riding, kayaking, etc. are out, as is swimming. Any good museums or caves/caverns in the are? Are there any lakes near Sedona where you can rent a pontoon boat?
Hello!
I would like to ask for your help. I will be riding through the entire state of Arizona for 30 days on my motorcycle. Are there any roads, highways and byways you recommend? Are there any gem restaurants or pubs (dives or fancy) that you would recommend I don’t miss?
Are there any places to see other than the obvious, (Grand Canyon, Saguaro National park and Sedona) that I should not miss? Are there any places that are mostly hype, therefore I should not waste my time on?
Thank you in advance!

Since we'll spend Christmas this year in the US, I figure we could spare a few days afterward in and around the South Rim. How's the weather there around the last week of December? Are the parks, trails, hotels less crowded than other times of the year? We plan to fly into Phoenix, rent a car then stay at a hotel near the Canyon instead of in Flagstaff...is this advisable? And is a couple of days enough to explore the area?
