Hi there,

I was wondering if anyone knows how to go about purchasing land for residential development in Vientiane?

Are current market rates readily available? Any regular real estate agents around there, to get a feel for the rates?

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Twice I've come across information on the internet that mentions bandits and buses being robbed on this stretch of road.
I've also read that Laos Aviation has a very poor safety record.
Our plan is to go from Vientaine to Vang Vieng then to Luang Prabang. What would you suggests is the safest way to go?

I'm planning on visiting Laos and arriving from Bangkok. Can I book Lao Aviation flights before arriving because we only have a couple of hours in Bangkok before the flight time ? (I've read you can't book flights outside Laos?)

Can anyone reccomend a travel agents in Vientiane that I can buy air tickets from or is there a laos airline shop around?

I've seen that tickets need to be confirmed in Laos before departure, what does this entail and is it easy to do?

Has anyone flown with laos aviation recently and how is their safety record looking of late? Would I be better off with vietnam air?

does anybody knows where to purchase bus tickets in vientiane from vientiane to udon thani? is there something like a travel agency district or building? how much would they cost aproximately?

another thing is the air ticket from phnom penh to vientiane. has anybody experience with the flights from vietnam air? they fly daily at 3.25pm...

I will be in Vientiane in a few weeks andwant to go from there to Siem Reap, Cambodia. I know Lao Aviation do the flight for $108 but was wondering what other options I have. Like bussing it or getting a train into Thailand and taking it from there. Is it worth this hassle? Should I just go with the flight?

We will be arriving in Vientiene in a couple of days and wonder if anyone has any hotel recommendations. We are particularly interested in places not listed in Lonely Planet. Our budget is up to 20 bucks a night.

On another travel board someone posted information about the ASEAN meeting in Vientiane, and how the city will be closed to tourists from November 22 to December 1.

I just called the Lao Embassy to the U.S. to confirm this.

We (my wife and myself) are planning to do a trip from Vientiane to Luang Prabang. Looking through the possibilities, it seems to us that most of these things are the same. The only difference is the price.

Can anyone recommend a good company? Has anyone any experience with these trips?

I was curious as to the laws of medication? Do you need a prescription or is everything sold OTC? Does anyone know specific laws....or a good source in Vientiane...I am a vet looking into purchasing animal medicatiopn and would like to know laws regarding this

Would like to fly from Vientiane to siem reap (ideally) or phenom penh. I've heard mixed reviews about Laos airlines. How risky is this carrier? Are there other airlines that fly this route, or if it's not a good idea should I plan on Thai airlines to Bangkok and then bus to siem reap.

I will be living in Vientiane for 3 months this summer, from May - August. I am looking to rent an apartment or stay in a guesthouse, but I need to relatively close to my job, which is on That Luang Rd. I am also trying to keep cost to a minimum. Any suggestions?

Also, does anyone know of English teaching opportunities in Vientiane over the summer or other jobs for that matter?
