Dear VTers. Me, my wife and our 11 yo and 9 yo son and daughter will be coming to Batam on 29 September 2006, before crossing to Singapore the next day. Anybody can recommend me where can I book an online cheap hotel for our just 1 night stay there?

I think I read in some article, that if I take a ferry frm S'pore to Batam Centre, I can shop right there without taking a taxi to any other destination. Is it true? If that's the case, it's very convenient. I just want a confirmation abt this so that I can just go in the morning and come back in the evening.

I have booked one night stay each at Holiday Inn Batam and Harris Resort. Am i correct to say that both resorts are close to one another? I am planning to go to the nearest town for shopping and meals. Any suggestion where shall i go to and how much is the taxi fare from either resorts?? Thanks a lot!!

I plan to take the ferry from HarbourFront Singapore to Batam Centre (BC).
1.
How far is it from BC to Waterfront City. How much is the taxi fare?
2.
Heard about Kampoeng Village where there is a local Kuda Lumping Dance. How do I go there? Where is it relative to BC? Taxi fare?

I intend to go Turi Resort. Anybody have any reviews on it? The spa? Pricing?
I heard that there is a rc track there for Radio cars.. anybody know where is it & how to get there.

I just returned from a Turi Beach on 16 Apr after staying there for 2 nights. Last trip there was in 2001. Went to Rezeki Seafood as I had a great food experience during my last visit. Was very disappointed with the current seafood selection available. They did not have any live prawns and according to the staff there, they have not had live prawns for a long time. Also, no crayfish and lala. Is this just bad timing on my part or is the situation at Rezeki what I had experienced? Also, other than Rezeki are there any nearby seafood places that we could try? Saw one next to the ferry terminal known as Amazone but the locals tell me that this is a Korean restaurant.
Will be making a trip to Turi Beach again in May as it is still a great place for relaxation.
Appreciate if you could share your seafood experience around the Turi Beach area.

My two guy friends and I will be going to Batam during the Labour Day weekend. After recommendations from my colleague, we booked Batamview for two nights. As I am planning what to do there now, I realised the go-karts and the cable-ski are all at Waterfront City, which is rather far from Nongsa (where Batamview is).

I would like to ask how much can I expect to pay for my cab to Waterfront City from Batamview?

Since I am there, I guess we should stay at that area for a day, before heading back to hotel at night. What else are there to do at WaterFront? Should I also explore NED as well for that night?

We don't intend to spend too much, and I don't wanna disappoint my friends, as I suggested going to Batam. Thank you very much!

Is there any private taxis or vans that can sit 6 pax? How much do they charge for a day booking?

Currently in Singapore, trying to organise getting to Pekanbaru. Have done the easy bit (Singapore to Batam). But need to sort out the Batam to Pekanbaru part! We have bicycles so ferries all the way would be best or any riverboat options.

We want to avoid spending the first night in Batam, so we are getting the first ferry out of Singapore.

Does anyone have any info on ferry times, costs, contact numbers, etc!

My friends and I are going to stay at Turi Beach Resort this weekends. Wanna ask those who have been there how to get around the island? Do they have taxi or bus to go to town for some shopping and dinning? How much will it cost.

we have 11 of us staying at the Novotel next weekend for a nite's stay.

frankly, this is the 1st time we are putting up in Novotel hence we are kinda loss of what activities we can have.

just a few questions here :-

(1) any feedback on Novotel? I only know this hotel is located in the heart of the Batam right? correct me if I am wrong. how's the hotel?

(2) we are planning to make way to the Waterfront Batam from Novotel for some outdoor activities. can anyone advise us what would be the most ideal and economical way? and how much will it cost us? we understand the journey from Novotel to Waterfront Batam will take us like an hour plus?

(3) we should be able to find lots of exciting activities @ Waterfront Batam right? like go-kart? jet ski? what others are available there? is there a website where we can see exactly what's in store for us?

(4) where exactly @ Waterfront Batam can we play bowling as well?

My colleague and I from Malaysia will be in Batam next week, probably an overnight trip to scout around for potential new customers around the industrial park area. Need help from fellow VTers on the following:

1) From Singapore, where do I board the ferry to Batam and where should be my destination be(Batam Centre?), ie we will probably want to be in town centre(is it called Nagoya?). A departure and arrival schedule will be helpful. How much does a return fare costs?

2) In Nagoya, can anyone recommend a 3-4 star hotel in centre of town? What is the rate per night and do I book when we are there?

3) Industrial park-heard Batam has only one industrial park-what is the name? How far is it from Nagoya? Any food manufacturers there?

4) How much to hire a car with driver for 1 day-we need it to travel around the industrial park and drop us back to the ferry terminal!

Can anyone recommend a reliable travel agent on Pulau Batam (prefer in Nagoya) that is willing to make air travel reservations and work thru e-mail? I need someone who can make some onward (inside Indonesia) air travel arrangements for me in support of an itinerary I'm putting together for early next year.
