hi, im planning for a 2days1 night trip with my hubby. Recommendations pls
1)recommended hotel/resort (cheap & nice)
2)places for food(cheap& nice)
3)places for spa(cheap & nice)
4)is there shuttle bus in every hotel&resort????
because i know some places are purposley very expensive.so, hope to know which places are reasonable ones.

I am going to be in Batam for 5 days and would like to be able to spend some time on a nice sandy beach. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn and understand it is a little secluded and I will have to travel to find a beach. Could someone recommend some nice beaches to walk and spend some private time. Sunsets would be a plus but not necessary. Not necessary to be a swimming beach just want to be able to walk on a nice sandy beach.

I am planning to visit batam and shortlisted harris view resort as my accommodation. However, I am not sure if this resort provides free shuttle bus service to town areas such as Nagoya. What's the travelling time and cost if I were to take a taxi? Anyone can advise?

Thanks for all the great info.. greatly enjoyed reading some of the posts and viewing the photo's. I've never visited Batam, but now I have an opportunity and plan to hop over from Singapore with the ferry just for one day to see what's it's like and do some shopping.

Since I'll be there just for one day, I'll be too lazy to walk long distances or hop in a taxi for some shopping. Therefore my question - are there any nice hotels (4 star preferably, 3 star ok too) that are adjacent or next to a shopping mall. Which ones are they..? If there are any which shopping mall are neighboring?
