I'm travelling from Singapore to Bintan for a 3D trip in the first week of Jan 2007. Got a lot of useful info from this forum - just a couple of things I was wondering:

- How is the weather this time of the year? Would hate to go there and be stuck in the resort for the whole trip =\

- Nirwana Gardens vs. Mayang Sari: Apart from the difference in location (MS is right on the beach) how would you compare the 2? How does the standard compare?

- Where can I find a good deal for a spa/massage?

- What's a good snorkelling spot?

I was in oleh oleh bintan 2 years ago. I was able to buy some Calvin Klein CK branded shirts. I am not sure what shop it was. It might be One Stop or Polo but not sure. Could anyone know what shops carry this branded "CK" mens shirts in Oleh oleh. Or if anyone know where I can get this fake CK shirts. I am going to Singapore and will be looking for the fake CK mens shirts. PLEASE HELP. I have rung up so many people already about this but to no avail

Could anyone please help me. We spent a week holiday at the angsana hotel and had a chance to do some shopping in a small village. I do not know the name but I presume it is the oleh oleh. WE purchased some fake "pierre Cardin" business shirts for very cheap prices. We are now making a trip to Singapore and was wondering if anyone would know what the name of the shop or shops are that sell the fake shirts at Bintan. I'm planning to take my friend to Bintan for a day since he is leaving Singapore the next day.

We will reach there before 9.00 AM and the return ferry is at 8.00 pm to Singapore. What's the best thing to do in 1 Day at Bintan?

Which beach will be good for swimming? I was thinking of taking a Beach Tent and relax in the beach.

Where is the best place to be in Bintan on New Year's night..in the run up to midnight and after 12.00? We have my parents in tow, so while we want to be where it's lively it can't be too wild. We were in Boracay, Philippines last year and there was tons of ad hoc beach parties and fire works. It was ideal.

Hello I'm going on the 17 of December to Bitan and stay for four days. I have read some posts and now I'm a little bit worried with the weather. It is possible to rain all the 4 days? There is many travelers on this time of the year? What can I do if rains all time? I read the resorts have some indoor activities. What kind of activities? I will stay in the Angsana.
And how is the ferry trip?

My wife and I are planning to visit Pulau Bintan for 2-3 days in December. Our thought is to not go to the resorts, but take the ferry to Tanjung Pinang and explore that part of the island. We like hiking, bicycling, exploring, and staying someplace representative of the island's culture. Are there jungle treks that we can take? Where should be stay, either in Tanjung Pinang or elsewhere on the island? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

I wonder if anyone knows if it is possible to hire a driver cum guide for a day tour to Tanjung Pinang and Pengareng (?) . My family of 7 to 8 will be there in Dec06. Many of the day tours look too expensive for us.
Also has anyone been to the Mangrove tour organised by the resorts. The agenda says 2 hrs, which sounds a bit short. Is it for good value?

A friend is going to Bintan for a few days and she asked me to ask what kind of currency do they accept there? Is it like Bali where US dollars and Indonesia Rupiah? They are going to stay in the resort and I told them I would think it would be safe to bring in Indonesia rupiah but i'm not sure now.

As for passports, it is easy for an American and an Australian to go there? I assume it would be like Bali won't it? US$25 per entry?

I'll be going to Bintan in Nov, staying in Bintan Lagoon.
Any recomendations for spa there? I went to Asmara before, but it has been taken over by Kedaton, and I can't find any info on the packages they offer.
I know bintan lagoon has its own spa too, Taman Sari, but no details on it as well, wondering if we stay there, do we have hotel guests discounts?
I remembered I used to do couple spa in Asmara, any similar ones in Taman Sari or Kedaton?

I heard that rooms go for between US$20-40 at the Hotel Sadaap. What is the difference in view from room/amenities/people housed? A price scale would be great. Thanks!

And which is the best spot to snorkel in Bintan?
And have any one tried the ATV. And the Dual Buggy. Is it fun? which one is the better track?

I had been to Bintan a couple of times but never check out the rates for transportation to Tanjung Pinang coz I'll rather laze around the pool with a good book then travel 1hr to see some ikan bilis or koropok.But this time i'm traveling with my folks and in-laws so need to bring them to town to see see.
Anyone out there knows the rates for 6 pax to Tanjung Pinang? Is the rates two way?Are there any massage or any seafood restuarant u can recommend at TP.

So far all the accomodations that I have heard about are hotels. Do they have any guesthouse or budget accomodation that cost about US$10 per night or something just like in Thailand?

hi staying at indra maya beach front villa, for 2 days anyone ever stayed there ??. also i get a free barbeque with it , do i have to go and buy the meat and salad etc or does it come with the barbeque ?? . theres a fully equiped kitchen so is there a shop to buy goods from. any help appreciated
