Jakarta Hello Jakarta, I am coming!
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 08:23 PM UTC
Thank you KiloFox, Astene and Sukalejong for your responses to my earlier questions. It looks like I am coming to visit Jakarta for a week soon. Except this time without the kids who I brought 4 years ago. No more Anchol water parks and pizza huts for a change. But I have a few questions: I have been reading about Block M in south Kakarta. Alot of nightlife for singles, is that correct? Are there good hotels there? Is the area safe for walking? How late do night spots remain open? Also, I read about police check points, copies of passports needed and so forth. What is this crab? Do the police check on you when you are walking or in a taxi? And if they do, why? Or is it just for the locals? And again, why? I never saw that four years back. Not even once. Or was I just lucky? Info on this and especially decent hotels in the district will be appreciated. Thanks again.

Jakarta Scuba diving near Jakarta
Posted: Mon March 31, 2008 08:28 AM UTC
Hi,
I am going to be Jakarta for a week for work and I was wondering if there is any good diving nearby? It seems that Sepa and Kotok Islands are the best places to go. How do I get there and where do I stay. Any info will be useful.
Thank you

Jakarta Hello Jakarta!
Posted: Wed March 26, 2008 04:58 PM UTC
It's been about four years since I visited Jakarta. Long time, hasn't it? Have hotel prices gone up so much( I mean the 5 stars ones)? How's the traffic? Has it improved since? How is the road trip to the mountains nearby? Is it still too crowded on weekends? How are the people? Are they still as friendly and smiling as ever? And what about villas for rent in the mountains? Have the prices gone up? I am plannig to visit soon if responses are encouraging, of course. Waiting to hear your input!

Jakarta Where to Get Accommodation at night?
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 08:51 AM UTC
Hi All,

I'll reach Jakarta at 1000pm++, after checkout I guess 1100pm. How to get accommodation at this particular hour in Central Jakarta or any budget accommodation around the Jakarta Airport Terminal 2?
Since Next day, I planning to visit Bandung, better to stay in Central Jakarta, take the train to Bandung? Or stay nearby Terminal 2, fetch a mini van to Bandung. Your advice is much appreciated. Thanks!

Jakarta Help Please
Posted: Tue January 8, 2008 03:10 PM UTC
Am a solo female traveller...60+... having 6 days to spend in Indonesia. Am arriving from Singapore into Jarkata, early March. Am hoping to find a reasonably cheap hotel in a safe locality. Any suggestion is welcome. Will 3 days be enough to look around before I fly out to Yogakarta? Someone suggested Dutta Garden Hotel...which seems a nice place to be. Where do I go for the next 2 days before leaving...or should I go somewhere else instead of Yogakarta? Am very confused. Need some time for shoping too. The beach, snorkelling, surfing is out. Please help!!

Jakarta Cost of wedding dinner at Jakarta
Posted: Thu December 27, 2007 02:45 AM UTC
I will be going to Jakarta in Jan 2008 to attend a Chinese wedding dinner at a 5-star hotel. Does anyone know roughly how much is the cost per table for a typical wedding dinner at a 5-star hotel in Jakarta?

This is because I want to make sure that my gift to the bride & groom will be at least on-par with the status of their wedding. Hope to get advice from VT members.

Regards & Happy New Year,
