Gibraltar Weather in February
Posted: Tue October 16, 2007 04:00 AM UTC
I'm looking at various places for vacations in 2008....trying to tie in with my daughter's school holidays.
I'm thinking of travelling to Gib in the 2nd week of February and have a few questions.
I'm based in Ireland........I assume the weather in Gib would be somewhat warmer?

Is everything open for business at this time of year............hotels,restaurants,cable car,Rock galleries etc

Any info would be welcome.....thanks in advance

Gibraltar info moving to Gibraltar
Posted: Thu October 4, 2007 09:39 PM UTC
Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me out here. I live in London and I would like to move to Gibraltar with my son. I will be travelling to Gib on 16th Oct to 22 Oct, to see if I can cope to move there. I have been there on holiday and I loved it, I am so excited to go again.
My question is, I have been searching for cheapest accommodation, but it seems that it’s difficult to find any cheap one, I am looking for self-catering or one bedroom somewhere with cooking facility,

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Gibraltar accommodation
Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 10:02 AM UTC
Hola!

Am going to driving around Spain in March 08 and will be going to Gibraltar for a few days in the middle of it all. The idea is to explore Gibraltar and also ferry across to Tangiers.

We are a fmaily of 4 (children will be 6 & 8 years when we travel) and would ideally like to all be in one room. Will do interconnecting rooms but they usually bump the price sky high and Gibraltar is looking VERY expensive and are looking for reasonable and clean - accommodation is just for sleeping and ideally parking the car of a night.

So are we better to stay in Gibraltar, Algeciras, Tarifa or elsewhere in terms of exploring Gibraltar and getting the ferry? Am I right, also in thinking the ferry is from Tarifa and runs every day?

We will be arriving around these parts from Granada direction and then leaving to head in the direction of Sevilla.

grateful for any help/advice/tips
thank you

Gibraltar Gibraltar Taxi Tours
Posted: Mon September 17, 2007 09:25 PM UTC
Has anyone had any experience with any taxi companies in Gibraltar who will pre-book the rock tour at a reasonable price? I found 2 on the web, Gibraltar Tours and Gibraltar Rock Tours, but neither are very responsive. It looks like they only read their email once a week, so each time I ask a question I have to wait a week for a response. As my visit is less than a month away now, I would prefer to deal with a company that answers emails more frequently.

I've also noticed based on the price quotes that I have gotten back from them so far, that at least one of these companies appears to be charging significantly more than what is "advertised" on the government web site for rock tours. Is this to be expected also if we try to hire a taxi after we get there and try to negotiate a price?

Gibraltar COMING OVER IN OCTOBER
Posted: Sun September 16, 2007 12:43 PM UTC
Dear All,
I am coming over to Gibraltar in October for about 4 days with my son. He is attending trials for football in Gibraltar, does anyone know how far the football places are from the town centre? Also, does anyone know if there are bus routes from La Linea to Alcaidesa and Algeciras as I need to view a couple of properties in these areas and how long does it take?
Many thanks.

Gibraltar A couple of questions regarding day trip to Gib
Posted: Tue August 28, 2007 02:22 AM UTC
I'll be in Gibraltar around Oct 24th - I'll be coming from Tangier around 12 or 1pm local time and departing 10pm on a night bus to Madrid.

Is there luggage storage at the La Linea bus station? I know there's one at the airport but I rather not use that option.

Secondly, can I use euros or must I use the British pound?

Lastly, given my time in Gib (7-8 hours) will that be enough time to go inside the caves, visit the seige tunnels, moorish castle, etc? Is it a good idea to buy a return ticket for the cable car and natural reserve?

Actually one more question, I've read that the shopping is cheap - what kind of shopping is there? And cheap by European standards? Can anyone give a comparison?

Sorry one more question - has anyone taken the night bus from La Linea to Madrid? How was it? Were buses comfortable?

Thanks in advance!

Gibraltar Official Rock Tour
Posted: Thu August 16, 2007 10:52 PM UTC
We have 5 hours on the rock, arriving by cruise ship for an afternoon. We would like to visit the significant sights included on the Rock Tour. Is it recommended to hire a taxi to do this, or is it just as easy to do it on our own?

Gibraltar FlyGib.com
Posted: Mon July 9, 2007 06:57 PM UTC
Hello everyone. I just signed upto the site... but I have been reading and visiting this part of the site for a good few months now :D.

Well I remember finding a site called flygib.com and they were going to be doing flights from Stansted to Gibraltar. They said they were going to start in March 2007 I think, then the site updated saying they weren't going to start till April or something.

Well the site doesn't exsist anymore, I tried to visit the site earlier to see if it had any updates. But it just redirected me to gibtele.com

Does anyone know what's happening with the airline?

Gibraltar Weekend stay advice
Posted: Mon June 4, 2007 12:15 PM UTC
My wife and I are doing a weekend reccie to Gibraltar to find out if we could move there to live in the not to distant future. We're hiring a car in Malaga and driving down with a couple of stops on the wat. For the actual weekend we're staing in Alcadiesa (Sp?) which I guesstimate is about 6/7kms from the border.
I have 2 real quesitons,Firstly is there a bus that would get us from Alcadiesa to La Linea regularly or is it easier to just drive and park at the border?
Second question is, as we're looking at Gib with a view to moving, is there any recomended estate agents who do rentals for the surrounding towns that it would be worth visiting to get a better idea of areas & costs?

Gibraltar general info about life in Gibraltar
Posted: Thu May 10, 2007 07:39 AM UTC
Hello!
I received a job offer in Gibraltar and before I decide to come and live there,I would like to know something about the money I'm going to spend there to live!!!
I mean.....I gave a look to some property rentals websites and the flats are so expensive!!!!So,I think the best option for me it will be to live out of Gibraltar,so in Spain! Can u suggest me a quite (I mean not dangerous!!)and cheaper place close to Gibraltar to live?
Second question, what about a car?I'm thinking also to bring with me my car there but it's registered in Scotland. Here I pay the insurance and the tax road. What am I going to pay there like tax road or other taxes?
And what about the public transports there?would it be easy for me to travel each day from a place in Spain to Gibraltar?
Last question:is the lifestyle expensive?
So,please...who's living already there, give me ur impression and suggestion.
Thanks a lot

Gibraltar UK registered car in Spain can i mot in Gibraltar??
Posted: Fri April 27, 2007 09:02 AM UTC
Hi,

Doing some research into my car which is needing an MOT. The car is UK registered and r/hand drive. I have it insured in the UK for use on the continent. I live about an hour from Gibraltar and would like to know if i can MOT my car in Gibraltar. If it needs to be registered in Gibraltar for an MOT, how much and how hard is this to do (also can a non-resident do it)? If i can register in Gibraltar will i need to pay import tax as it is already paid to the HRH inspectors?

So many questions.... any help would be appreciated, i have looked into some web-sites, but none seem to say what i need to find out.

Cheers!
