Faroe Islands faroe tale trip... crap joke, i know.
Posted: Mon October 10, 2005 05:03 PM UTC
Hey guys!
I'm a 20 year old New Zealand guy, spending some time in the faroes this summer, probably may-ish...
I want to hang out with locals, learn a wee bit of the faroese language, and hike over each island. I dont know what else goes on in the faroes, so who knows what else ill be doing!
im aware that there is no public land in the faroes, so campings a bit dodgy. Is it possible to stay with locals? is hitching possible? Would any of the faroe locals on VT be interested in meeting up?
cheers

Faroe Islands Looking for someone wanting to visit sunny Spain.
Posted: Sat April 30, 2005 03:16 PM UTC
Hello

I need some help and somebody that speaks english as I do not speak the Faroe language.

I am a dutchman that lives in Spain.

I have a villa in Spain that looks over the Mediterranean see where the weather is nice. I also have rooms that I let to guests.

I am looking for a couple that speaks english from the Faroar that would like to visit us for one or two weeks. Instead of paying for the visit, they pay us by letting us stay at your house for the a week. We would very much to see the Faroar islands but we cannot afford expensive hotels. Thats why we want to make a deal. You stay with us for a while and we stay with you. This is cheap for everyone.

If there is a newspaper on the island, please send me the internet address so I can ask if they can place my add in this newspaper.

We like walking very much and we are looking for a couple that wants to show us the island by making long walks.

Please, please react as we are very serious.

Thanks

Faroe Islands cultural/artistic exchange
Posted: Fri November 5, 2004 09:21 PM UTC
i am an artist living in france. i would like very much to go and experience the landscape in the Faroe islands... to be alone, to talk with people with different perspectives. I would be looking for a room where i can draw and write, and a friendly host interested in sharing conversations. i would come for between two and four weeks. i speak french and english, i am very neat and clean and enjoy washing dishes very much. I would offer in exchange the opportunity to come to strasbourg in alsace to stay with me and experience the unique culture here. i am available to come anytime between now and february... thank you for your considerations

also taking recommendations for getting to the islands in the winter from this corner of France... thank you all once again

Faroe Islands Unusual Request!
Posted: Fri October 29, 2004 10:07 PM UTC
Maybe you know bookcrossing (setting books free you want to share with other people). I am part of it and currently take part in a challenge. We are planning to send at least one book to every country in the world.

Now I chose Greenland and Faroe Islands. Is there anyone here from those two countries who would like to recieve a free book ? I'd need one adress from both countries...

This is totally free of any obligation, it's just the fun of sharing, hunting and reading.

For further information check out:

Thank you in advance!!

Faroe Islands Nightlife in Thorsvan
Posted: Tue October 19, 2004 04:02 PM UTC
Hi, I along with other Irish soccer fans plan on going to the Faroe Islands in June 2005 to the Faroe v Ireland WC Qualifier in Torshavn. Here in Ireland there have been various rumours going around about the availability of alcohol and the nightlife in Thorsvan, some have said that alcohol is banned others say that there are no pubs. I have seen pubs and clubs mentioned on the Faroe Tourist Board website, but what exactly is the situation in Torshavn. Are there pubs and clubs, are they good, how late are they open etc????. First hand knowledge and experiences would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

Faroe Islands Faroe islands , how to get there and accomodation
Posted: Tue October 19, 2004 10:19 AM UTC
Q: HI

I was looking to go to the Faroe island for 3/4 days some time over the winter .
I would be looking to fly from anywhere on the British mainland and even possibly Dublin/Belfast .
I have heard that atlantic airways do direct flights from Aberdeen but i havent been able to price this from their website.
Also if anybody had any idea about what sort of price things are in the Faroes , hotels , food , alcohol etc.

would 3/4 days be long enough to see the islands etc if i hired a car.

thanks in advance.

Faroe Islands How to visit the Faroes?
Posted: Wed August 11, 2004 06:19 PM UTC
My husband and I are debating two options: an expedition cruise (Clipper Odyssey) that visits Dublin, the Orkney/Shetland/Hebrides islands, the Faroes & Iceland, vs. traveling on our own by ferry from Aberdeen to the Shetland & Faroe Islands & Iceland. We only have 2 weeks. We enjoy cruising but wonder if we will miss out too much by not staying & eating locally. From what little I've been able to find, though, it seems that it is natural beauty rather than unique food/accomodations that is the highlight in the Faroes. Any comments or suggestions that might help? Cost is actually similar. We are in our 30's, active & enjoy nature.

Is it true that the Torshavn Hostel only takes people who arrive by ferry ? Also, does anyone have the phone number or email address of this hostel - I can't find anything on the Internet about it.

Faroe Islands Travel to Faroe Islands
Posted: Tue March 16, 2004 12:14 PM UTC
I would love to go to the Faroe Islands but dont know if it will fit or if it is too costly.

What would be the cheapest route to get there? I have a Eurail pass and will be going all over so I could leave from anywhere.

About how long would it take to get there?

Thanks

Faroe Islands POSTCARDS
Posted: Wed February 18, 2004 01:29 PM UTC
Hi everyone! My name is Ginte and I am from Lithuania. I collect postcards from all over the world as most people here at VT. I would be really happy if someone would be interested in sending me a postcard from Faroe Islands, as I have no one in my collection from this country. Mostly I have postcards from Europe, but not from all countries yet. If you'd like I could send you a postcard from Lithuania too. Thank you!
