Me and a couple of friends will be going to Medan on July this year but we haven't book any hotel room. Any recommendation for safe, and good hotel room for less than USD 35 per night?

I'll be visiting Medan next month and I like to do some shopping.. is there perhaps a hotel in Medan that is adjacent (or next to) a shopping mall? I rather prefer a short walk to the mall than take a taxi.. Many thanks!

HI.

I am planning to fly to Medan and want to go straight to Pematang Siantar from Polonia airport?
Is there any taxi that can we hire waiting at the airport that can take us to Pematang Siantar? I do remember a few years ago that we can hire a taxi share by
3 or 4 passengers with a reasonable price (not like in Australia, or any western countries or Asia).
Or may be we can hire a taxi just for ourself not sharing with others . Any idea how much it cost approximately. And where can we find this taxi at the airport??? Also can you tell me the good hotel with not expensive price (not Siantar Hotel)in Pematang Siantar

Hi, im planning to to visit Medan & Padang, it will be a 6days trip on late January next year.
1. Please recommend me how to spend that 6days effectively. Which interesting places both in Medan & Padang that worth a visit? And how to reach those places (considering im taking my mom & aunt, I think I need quite comfortable transportation).
2. Any suggestion on where to stay (budget accommodation if possible)?
3. I already purchased plane tickets from Jakarta to Medan and from Padang to Jakarta. But still wondering how the best way to go from Medan to Padang? By bus or plane or else? How long does it take to reach Padang?

Why medan forum is quiet ? Hi I am Thomas vts member living in Bali island and was born in Medan. Everytime I check comments and question about Medan and very rare. I do hope that North Sumatra which are very rich with nice places, such as Orang utan with its dense jubgle still, Berastagi ( high cool mountain) and the lovely lake Toba. Will be visited by many people in the future. and by doing so Our people there will be more prosperous. and lastly with a friendly greeting, Bravo sumatra...Horassssss.....
