Weather in Grenoble Posted: Fri March 17, 2006 09:15 PM UTC
I know this question is a bit ambiguous as are all questions concerning weather but I am wondering what temperatures and conditions to expect in Grenoble in mid-April.
Will it be suitable for hiking or is there still snow?
Many thanks

Question about weather in Rhone-Alpes Posted: Tue May 31, 2005 08:05 PM UTC
Hi,
I have a question. I'm supposed to attend a summer program at Universite de Savoie, in Chambery, in the Rhone-Alpes. I'm in Paris now, and it has been so hot here, I thought it would be a lot cooler in Chambery because it is in the Alps, but when I looked up the weather, out of the next 6 days, 3 are over 80 degrees (80 is equal to 27 degrees Celsius). I know this is is being posted in Grenoble, I'm asking here because Grenoble is not too far from Chambery and there are no postings in the Chambery area. Can someone tell me if it is frequently over 80 degrees in June? When I looked up the weather for every day in June last year on a website, it showed 10 days out of 29 as being over 80, many mid eighties or higher, so that would mean 1 out of 3 days was 80 or more. I have a medical problem and get very sick from the heat, and so right now, have a flight booked home tomorrow, because if it is frequently 80 or higher, I don't think my health is up to it. Even in the mid 70s, I can feel pretty sick - I'm used to air conditioning at home, even if I have to go out in the heat, all the buildings in my area are air-conditioned, but in Chambery, nothing seems to be air conditioned, from what they have said. Could anyone tell me what the weather is expected to be during the next 2-3 weeks in Chambery, and if it is often 80 or higher? Could you please cc your reply to Beth_W@ix.netcom.com and Maggie737@yahoo.com
Thank you
Sincerely,
Beth

How to get from Bus Station to Train station? Posted: Sat May 21, 2005 08:14 PM UTC
Hi,
I was considering accessing (cheaply) the ski resorts of Savoie by flying to Grenoble and then taking SNCF to Bourg Saint Maurice. I have read in the tips on this site and on the airport site that there is a shuttle bus between the airport and the gare routiere, but I was wondering where this is in relation to the train station? Are the bus station and train station in the same place, or is their easy access between them? Thanks a lot for your help. Nick.

Tour de France Posted: Thu April 21, 2005 07:58 AM UTC
Hi there,
I am planning on going to the Tour de France and making my base Grenoble for the Alps stages through Courchevel and Briancon.
Has anyone out there got experience in watching the tour? Can we follow the couple of days with our tent, just camping in the towns where it stops or is it much more complicated than this?
What would you out there say is the best way to get from town to town via the Tour course?
Many Thanks for your help with this!!

Geneva Airport to Grenoble Posted: Mon March 7, 2005 04:20 AM UTC
Hi everyone!
I just recently joined this site, so I apologize if this has been talked about before...
I will be going to Grenoble during my spring break, but I will be flying into the Geneva airport. I think I read in an earlier post that the train departure times are rather frequent. Is this correct? I fly into Geneva at about 8 am on Monday, so I don't wanna wait forever for a train. Also, does anyone recommend going by bus. I've read on a website that this takes just as long as a train ride. Does anyone know how much each would cost??
Please gimme any advice you offer! Thanks in advance!!

Reaching Grenoble Posted: Wed February 23, 2005 07:56 PM UTC
Hello: I need to reach Grenoble from India on April 1. As per my Travel agent info, flights to Lyon go through Paris and are expensive than flights to Geneva. But there doesnt seem to be any flight to Lyon from Geneva. If I have to catch a train from Geneva I need to get a swiss visa, implies more paper work.
I was thinking of flying to Paris and then catching a train. Can anybody tell me whether train tickets to Grenoble will usually be readily available if I land up in Paris without prior researvation. I dont know how to book the train online, as they seem to accept only french credit cards?
Could anybody advice me about the best option?
Thanks in advance

English friendly local hangout? Posted: Mon November 22, 2004 05:50 AM UTC
This may be an oxymoronic questions. But where would you send a French-challenged foreigners who knows nobody in Grenoble?
I'd love to practice my broken French and meet some locals. I'll spend over a week in that town beginning on Dec 5. Any advice?
Merci.

Cost in Grenoble Posted: Thu October 21, 2004 06:35 PM UTC
Hi,
I'm planning in doing a homestay program in Isere area, but I am nearer to Grenoble.
I want to know if I was to go to Grenoble or Lyons or Chambery and around Isere, how much euros should I bring with me for snacks, cinema, museum visits, drinks?
For skiing, i understand that Grenoble and Chambery area has an expensive ski resort, how much does it cost to rent ski boots, ski's, ski jacket and pants?
How much should I roughly bring altogether for ski stuff and lift pass, activites, sightseeings? Like for going up in the cable car? And if I ever needed to buy warm winter clothing?
If you know any website related to this topic could you you please reply with a website linked to it?
It would be very helpful if you could answer these questions,

Grenoble Accommodation/Restaurants Posted: Mon September 27, 2004 07:07 PM UTC
I have booked rather cheap accommodation at the Rive Droite for a three-week stay in Grenoble. (http://rivedroite.antaeus.fr/) However, I have no idea how comfortable or clean this hotel is. I'm hoping it will be non-touristy but, again, comfortable and clean.
Has anyone had experience with this hotel?
Also, any suggestions for modest local restaurants with local fare?
Thanks in advance.

how to get there? Posted: Sat September 27, 2003 01:51 PM UTC
I'm visiting a friend in Grenoble and need advice on how to get there. I come from Norway, my options are flying from Oslo to Paris, Nice or Lyon (most expensive flight). From wich of these cities will it be easiest and cheapest o reach Grenoble? I guess it will be by train either way, but I haven't managed to find a map of the railways that show to/from wich cities the trains operate...
The reason I need to ask even though I've got a friend there, is that she's new in town....
Thanks in advance!!! Kjersti :)
