Surabaya Trip in Ijen Crater & Yoja
Posted: Tue July 31, 2007 03:40 AM UTC
Hi, I'mnew here! Hope to get your answer on my questions regarding my trip in east java in 1 week.

I planned to itenaries. please tell me which one is better and more practical!

I1:
Day 1, I will arrive Surabaya at 3pm. head for yoja by train.
Day 2, Borbudur.
Day 3, walk around in yoja. go back to surabaya by night train.
Day 4, arrive in Surabaya early morning and take a taxi to bondowoso. Hike to ijen crater.
Day 5, travel around ijen plateau. go back to surabaya in the evening.
Day 6, half day sightseeing in Surabaya. leave at 4pm.

I2:
Day 1, I will arrive Surabaya at 3pm. take a taxi to bondowoso.
Day 2, ijen crater.
Day 3, travel around ijen plateau. go back to surabaya in the afternoon and take train to Yoja.
Day 4, Borbudur.
Day 5, Travel around Yoja town. go back to surabaya in the evening.
Day 6, half day sightseeing in Surabaya. leave at 4pm.

I've also some more questions:
- if i touch down at surabaya airport at 3pm, am I able to catch a train in Surabaya train station at 5:30pm or 6pm? given that I need to get a visa upon arrival.
- I'm looking for info on trains through the website of PT Kereta Api.Is it reliable? How is the train service? punctual most of the time?
- How long does it take to go Bondowoso from Surabaya? Is it easy to find accomodation there? Any other things worth visiting other than ijen crater in that area? I heard of waterfalls and hot springs.... Is it possible to find taxi there to go back Surabaya? How much does it cost roughly?
- What to do in Surabaya for half a day?

Give me tips or any of ur thoughts!!!! Thanks!!!

Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 02:54 PM UTC
Halo!

Its me again, have some more questions which I hope to get answers:

1.) Is the mud eruption in East Java blocking to way to the Gunung Bromo area? I'll be taking a bus there from Purajaya bus terminal

2.) What is the alert status for Bromo?

3.) Where is the best place to change Ruppiah? I was told to just withdraw from ATMs, is it a good idea?

4.) I have 2 full days in Surabaya, what can I see? And what are the major shopping malls which are popular with locals?

5.) Where is the cheapest place to book a hotel room, just walk in? online? travel agent? or counters at the airport?

Thanks!

Surabaya Getting from Juanda Airpost to Mt Bromo
Posted: Sun April 8, 2007 04:39 AM UTC
Hi forumers,

I'll be touching down at Juanda airport in late April, would like to go to Mt Bromo directly from there to experience the next day's sunrise. Have a whole array of questions here, hope that some of you are able to help me with some answers. Thanks!

1.) Is Cemoro Lawang the best staging area to stay in? How do I get to Cemoro Lawang from Juanda Airport?

2.) Many forumers recommend renting a car to get to Bromo, how do I rent a car in Juanda airport? Do they come with drivers? What are the costs like?

3.) Is self-driving even advisable for a foreigner, are the roads easy to navigate?

4.) Is the mud eruption affecting the route to Bromo from Juanda airport?

5.) How I spend in Tengger Caldera? I was thinking 3 days/2 nights...

6.) How do I get back to Surabaya city from Bromo (assuming I'm not renting a car)

That's all folks! Appreciate your responses, thanks!

Surabaya getting to Tretes from SUB
Posted: Sat March 10, 2007 04:09 AM UTC
Is it true that the recent mudslides have made travel between Surabaya and Tretes more difficult due to the closure of the toll roads? Either way, what is the best way to get there for a foreigner in terms of safety and economy?

- What is the time difference between jogja and kuala Lumpur?

Transport :
- How to go from Surabaya airport to Surabaya town?
- from Surabaya to mt bromo – by bus?
- from mt bromo to jogja town – by bus or train? If I were to take bus from mt bromo to probolinggo, is there train from probolinggo to jogja? Or is until solo only? How long is the journey?
- from jogja town to solo airport – by cab or bus?

Jogja :
- About Mt Merapi, what is status now?
- Is prambanan open to tourist?
- Ramayana performance in prambanan. Is it already performing? I’ll be there on May 2 onwards.
- Nightlife in jogja - what to do?
- Kindly refer to my itenary below and let me know if it’s ok.

Itenary :
Sun – KL – Surabaya

Mon - earliest departure to mt bromo.

Tue - sunrise at penanjakan, walk up to bromo crater rim, then tour around tengger caldera. Then take bus to probolinggo or Surabaya, then head to jogja by train or bus?

Wed – borobudur/Prambanan in one day – is it enough?

Surabaya Please advice on following questions
Posted: Tue April 27, 2004 02:03 AM UTC
Hi there,

My name is Frederick and I am from Singapore. I will be travelling to Surabaya sometime in late May or June this year. I would really appreciate if anyone could help me. I was wondering if you can provide the following information:

1) Which are the major shopping malls in Surabaya?
2) Which is the best hotel to stay in (if I want to visit the major shopping malls in Surabaya like Plaza Surabaya, Mal Galaxi, Tunjunan, etc)?
3) Which are the nearest hotels to Tunjungan Plaza? Preferably within walking distance.
4) From the airport, are there any trustworthy taxis (like bluebird, silverbird) that I can call to bring me to the hotel? And do they run by meter (argo) or do I have to bargain the price first?
5) How far would it be (in terms of travelling time) if I want to make a trip out to Mt. Bromo? Are there any hotels/resorts there that I can maybe stay a night? And what is the best means of transportation? Should I book a taxi?
