Posted: Fri May 9, 2008 09:50 AM UTC
Hello everyone,
I will fly to Solo on 29th May. From there, will proceed str8 to Yogya as I booked a hotel there. I just need to know, what is the train station nearest to the Solo Airport and Malioboro St. How far are they from the two places? I will reach Solo on Thursday at about 9 a.m. So, are there many trains available to Yogya? How about the crowd at that time?
Thanking all responses in advance.

Yogyakarta Need a place to stay in Jogja!!
Posted: Thu April 17, 2008 04:14 PM UTC
Hi guys,

I will be in Jogja for about 2 months starting around this June 19. I am looking for a cheap place to stay, where I can pay by the week/month instead of by the night. Do you know of any homestays or good kos-kosan? I would like to avoid backpackers as much as possible and be around Indonesians instead.

Makasih banyak :)

Posted: Wed April 9, 2008 12:03 PM UTC
We're hoping to stay at the Manohara hotel at Borobudur for a night to checkout the sunrise, then we're planning on going to Solo for the next night. Can anyone tell me what is the best/easiest way to get to Solo? Is transport readily available from Borobudur or do I need to organise a driver before we get there? Thanks in advance.

Yogyakarta Tours originating from Solo
Posted: Mon March 17, 2008 07:44 AM UTC
Hi everyone,

I'm planning to do a 4D3N trip to see Yojyakarta, Solo, Pranbanam, Sunrise at Borobudur & Mt Merapi. I have a few questions that require some help.

1) Most tours originate from Yogyakarta, but Silkair flies only to Solo from Singapore. Are there many tour desks at Solo airport?
2) Please recommend some of the more trustworthy and value for money tour operators from Solo.
3) Have most of the sites in Yojyakarta and Pranbanam recovered from the earthquake yet?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hello VT,

Anybody can help for information on good spas in Yogyakarta. So far I have read about the one in Sheraton Hotel. Aren't there any other spas around the city. slightly out of the city centre would be alright too. My web search so far didn't give me good results. Appreciate to hear something from fellow VTs. Yogyakarta Hotel bookings
Posted: Sat February 9, 2008 12:15 PM UTC
Have tried booking hotels for March, but no one replies. Have sent emails, booked on web sites, sent faxes. Is it too early to book for the first week of March or is this the normal trend in Indonesia? No replies from Duta Garden or Homestay....no reply from Istans Griya in Solo...same as Royal Dago in Bandung. Any suggestions anyone...hate to leave it to the last or walk in and find a room. Guess I'm too old for this. Would rather have a confirmed booking before I go.

Yogyakarta 1st time in Yogja
Posted: Fri December 14, 2007 01:31 AM UTC
Hai, 2 of us will be travelling to Yogja on 29/1/2008 for 3D/2N. We prefer to do more sight seeing than shopping, at the same time enjoy the local food. Can anyone suggest:
i) a good budget hotel (not more than USD30 per night)in a convenient location, preferably near the train station.
ii) we would like to go to Borobodur and Prambanan. Is it worth staying at Manohara hotel near the temple ground or is it cheaper to travel on a day trip from Yogja.
iii) Is it convenient and safe to use the local bus service to make day trips to Borobodur and Prambanan, especially if coming back late at night.
iv) How much should I pay (reasonabele ?) to rent a car (incl. driver and all extras) for a day tour ?
v) We will be flying from Solo to KL in the evening. Is there anything interesting to do or see in Solo ?

Yogyakarta Reasonable Prize for typical tours in Yogyakarta?
Posted: Sat July 28, 2007 12:43 AM UTC
Does anyone here have any ideas or commements on the reasonable price of typical tours such as Borobudur, Pambannan temple+city tour?
I have already enquired these questions with the local tours on the internet. They usually set these tours (one day temple tour + city tour) at about US 85, I think it is too much.
Any ideas?

Yogyakarta Wesak '07

Am planning to get to Yogya & Borobudur for Wesak this year & am having problems finding out actual dates. Some people say May 2 (full moon), others that the actual holiday is June 1.

Is anyone able to give me the date of the Wesak ceremony at Borobudur on the actual day of the Buddha's Birth, Death & Enlightenment day?

Many thanks...

Yogyakarta Hotel under renovation after earthquake?
Posted: Fri February 9, 2007 12:11 PM UTC
Hello dear VT forummers,
I was searching for hotels at Yogya on the internet and Ibis Malioboro really appealed to me. However, when I tried to book the hotel, I was informed that it is under renovation. Is this true? How about other hotels such as Novotel or Mercure Grand Hotel? Are they also under renovation?
I really appreciate everyone's replies and I thank everyone in advance.

Yogyakarta Yogya day tours
Posted: Tue January 16, 2007 09:38 AM UTC
Dear VT forummers,

Am planning to go to Yogya soon and would like to enquire about the approximate day tour prices per person for tourist attractions such as Borobudur, Prambanan, Mount Merapi, etc.

Where can I book these tours? At the hotel or Maliaboro street? Which/where is cheaper?

BTW, has Prambanan reopened to tourists?

Thanks so much.
