Wacken Travel to and from Wacken
Posted: Sat June 14, 2008 02:18 PM UTC
This is my first Wacken. I will be staying in Hamburg a few days prior to the festival. I will be alone at the festival so not keen on camping. Is it possible to travel to and from the festival to Hamburg each day?

Lübeck Wild Camping Ostsee
Posted: Thu May 15, 2008 08:30 PM UTC
Hi together,

some friends of mine and me, all from Hamburg, would like to go to the Ostsee one weekend and camp there one night. Preferably at the beach and NOT at a camp site. Is this possbile in your opinion?

We know that it is not allowed, but it would still be nice to do it anyways. In other parts of the world noone would care ALTOUGH it is not allowed. This might be different here in Germany I guess. We'd just sit around in the dunes with a keg or case of beer and get the tents up around 1 hour before sunset and take them down again early in the morning. Has anyone done this before? Anyone been caught?

We'd come by train and/or bus from Hamburg. Any recommendation where exactly at the Ostsee it might not be so crowded and therefore possible to do this from Saturday to Sunday one weekend?

If all of you are strictly recommending NOT to do it, tell me. And which camp site/ where would you recommend then instead?

Regards and Danke in advance,
Phil

Hey -
Will be in Germany for three months. Any recommendations for international calling? My U.S. cell phone plan is a small fortune. I'll be moving through different countries and making calls in Europe and the U.S. Thanks for your help, as always! :-)

Berlin When to buy or reserve tickets for opera or theater/ Best way to get tickets at best price
Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 09:39 PM UTC
Hi! When do I buy tickets for the opera when I will be in Berlin for the 1st week in April?

I'm thinkig about the traditional fora such as Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Komische Oper, Deutche Oper Berlin, Neukollner Oper, and perhaps concert halls like the Philharmonie, Kammermusiksaal, konzerthaus Berlin?

I don't speak German, so it would be helpful if I am directed to an online site, that it be in English.

Is it better to buy online or once I arrive?

Thanks!

Berlin Boat ride
Posted: Sun August 19, 2007 09:32 PM UTC
Hi everyone!

Are there different companies that offer boatride tours? If so, is one preferred over another? Any suggestions? I'm not looking for anything fancy. I don't want to eat on board, just a nice tour to see the sites, take photos, and relax a long the way.

Thanks!

Is it necessary to book seats in advance if we want to travel later in August or can we just show up and buy tickets on the spot?

Thank you very much!

Land Schleswig-Holstein Nordfriesische islands
Posted: Wed July 25, 2007 09:11 PM UTC
Hello to everyone,

my question may sound a bit strange, but maybe...
So if there's a possibility to see some sea animals in Nordfriesische islands, maybe some companies offer such opportunity. I see there are lot of small towns around, but don't know which would be the best to choose. And if one can see there high tide?
ps. I'm poor with German language :)

Thank you in advance!

Flensburg SCHLESWIG HOLSTEIN -- HOTEL SUGGESTIONS
Posted: Tue May 22, 2007 12:49 PM UTC
We are looking for a hotel for 4 people (2 adults - 2 kids) in either Flensburg or elsewhere in Schleswig Holstein. (we plan to drive back from a day at Legoland in Billund, Denmark, and want a nice but reasonable hotel someplace after we cross the border (Denmark hotels seem to be significantly more expensive). Clean and good breakfast are the 2 primary requirements (but I have never run into a "dirty" German hotel thus far ...). Not too far off the autobahn would be nice ....

Hi I'm going on my first trip to Europe, Germany, for the world cup Amsterdam than to Montreux for the Jazz festival. Since we will be moving around quite a bit I'm told I will have to take one suitcase that I can handle myself. Can you world travlers recommend clothing I should take that will accomodate these different cities. Trip is planned for end of June through the middle of July.

Sylt Where should we stay
Posted: Mon March 27, 2006 10:12 PM UTC
I am going with a group to Germany for the World Cup in June/July 2006. We have some time to spare and would like to travel around Germany. I have found a beautiful place called Sylt - in particular, Kampen.

I would like some help in finding a place to stay in this town (Kampen) or anywhere else which would be good to see. We are aged between 24-28 so something fun and outdoors is good.

I have found plenty of general information on Sylt but am having trouble with accommodation.

Thank you for your help.
