Posted: Tue June 24, 2008 02:15 PM UTC
I am trying to figure if Phnom Penh should be included in a trip to Cambodia or if I should just fly to Siem Reap from Bangkok. Need feedback and opinions on the capital city.

Phnom Penh Visa question (including e-visa)
Posted: Mon May 12, 2008 03:43 PM UTC
Hi all,

Me and my wife are visiting Cambodia between the 10-14 August this year. We'll be flying into Siem Reap on the 10th for 2 days, then flying onwards to Phnom Penh for a further 2 days.

Simple plan!

So I looked at the visa situation and found this e-visa thing. I thought I'd go for that. So I filled all the stuff out and paid my money and eagerly awaited the arrival of my e-visa's. And sure enough they did.

But it says the visa expire on the 12 August - the same day we leave Siem for PP. (And exactly 3 months from the issue date!)

I looked on the website and found out that as long as we arrive before the expiry date, then we can stay for a further 30 days. This would be fine, but the fact that we will arrive at PP airport on the day our visas expire makes me worried. I'm aware that we will have just flown a domestic flght, but what if someone wants to check our visa's?

Basically, can someone settle my mind. I don't fancy having to pay another $50.

Regards

Jason

Phnom Penh Getting a cab to catch 06:45am flight & dining options near Sunway Hotel
Posted: Wed March 12, 2008 09:13 AM UTC
This is my first time in Cambodia.

Would appreciate if someone could advise me if it is easy to get a cab in the early morning on Sunday to catch my 06:45am flight. I'll be staying at Sunway hotel near Wat Phnom. How much should I be expected to pay for the ride?

In addition, please recommend some nice restuarants near my hotel.

Thanks in advance!

Phnom Penh Motocycle ride around the city
Posted: Thu January 10, 2008 07:58 AM UTC
Hello,
I am going 2 days to PP tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone of you ever did some motocycle for a day to hang around. I do not see it as a huge city as bangkok but I might do that ride in Siem Reap.
More, I would like to go to SR by boat, do you have any suggestions? How many days do you think are necessary spending at SR?
Thx

Phnom Penh phnom penh to koh kong
Posted: Sat December 29, 2007 12:55 PM UTC
Can anyone help me, I understand that there is a bus that travels from Phnom Penh to Koh Kong. I would like to know how to find out the bus times and whether the bus arrives in time to cross the border that day.

I would be grateful for any info about this bus, or any other mean of transport that would get me there the same day.

Thank you

Phnom Penh Paragon Hotel on Sisowath Quay Anyone stayed there recently?
Posted: Tue December 4, 2007 10:48 AM UTC
I managed to finally get a booking in the Paragon Hotel on Sisowath Quay road in Phnom Phen. (after I tried to send a fax, then phoned to ask why the fax wasn't working and asking them to reply to my email instead)

My choice was based on the fact it has a view of the river from a private balcony - and most reviews I've read seemed positive EXCEPT for some comments about steep stairs.

The Hotel, in the Cambodian Yellow Pages, claims to have an elevator and I've read one review about the hotel planning to install one.

Can anyone tell me if they have fitted an elevator yet - or - is it still a steep climb up narrow stairs?

Phnom Penh overland travel phnom penh to trat
Posted: Sun November 11, 2007 01:23 PM UTC
Hi

We want to travel from phnom penh to trat in february, would like to avoid the boat from sianoukville to koh kong. Am I right in thinking that the main route by decent road goes via sianoukville? would be very grateful for any advice and how long it will take, would like to do it in 2 days. Quite like the air conditioned buses.

Thank you for any advice you could give.

Phnom Penh Expenses in Phnom Penh
Posted: Tue October 2, 2007 03:46 PM UTC
Hi,
I am considering to volunteer in Phnom Penh starting in January (08) for a few months. I would like to get a feel for routine daily expenses in the city and the country in general. I am not looking for the extremes (either the bare minimum or luxury), just your thoughts on the middle of the budget spectrum. I am considering renting a place (safe and clean); 50-50 eating in and out; misc expenses (e.g. inside the city transport); weekend traveling; language courses (and other things I can not think of right now).
Your advice and thoughts are much appreciated.

Phnom Penh Recommended Day tour Itinerary!
Posted: Tue May 15, 2007 06:30 AM UTC
Having a full day to tour around Phnom Penh, what should we not miss?
Is getting a guided tour as offered by hotels/travel agencies be a better option as compared to renting a car and do it on our own time and places of choice. How much approximately it will cost. By the way, we are four in the family travelling, and that includes my 4- and 9-year-old daughters.

Thank you!

We're traveling to Cambodia in November and I've heard about the water festival celebrating the changing of the river flow. Does anyone know exactly what days this will be? Do we need to pre-book rooms because of the festival? Any other advice for visiting during the festival is welcome as well. Many thanks!

Phnom Penh Bringing baby to Phnom Pehn?
Posted: Thu March 1, 2007 04:47 AM UTC
Wanted to ask people who have visited Phnom Pehn if you think it's alright to bring a 6 month baby there for a three day holiday? We would be out during the day but stay in the hotel in the evening. He has had his vaccinations and has traveled in Thailand, Japan and the USA already. Before we had our son, we traveled through laos, cambodia (except phnom pehn), vietnam and other countries and eager to get back to traveling in asia. We want to do some traveling before he starts crawling. Has anyone brought their baby here during their travels? Can anyone recommend a good family hotel or a hospital in the city or where not to stay. Thanks!

Phnom Penh PP-Siem Reap: Boat/Bus schedule?
Posted: Thu January 18, 2007 01:46 PM UTC
Hello all,

we will be 5 days in Cambodia during Chinese New Year and will be arriving in PP at 10am. Any change we can catch a boat to Siem Reap the same day? What is the schedule?

Getting back to PP from Siem Reap by bus to catch our flight at 3:20. Any chance we can catch an Express Bus early morning the same day and arrive safely and in time at the airport?

Thanks for your help!

Phnom Penh Getting to Siem Reap/Angkor Wat
Posted: Tue January 16, 2007 09:50 PM UTC
Is anyone able to recommend to me a driver whom I could hire to take me from PP to SR or would I be better flying. If I took the driver option is it really any quicker than going by bus? My main aim is to minimise travelling time and max out on my "doing time"

Thanks

Just wondering if anyone's been here? I'm interested because it's a handicraft village and a beach, but just wonder if it's worth taking a relatively short excursion there?

Thanks!
