Kiev Kiev Accommodation / what area please ?
Posted: Mon November 2, 2009 09:39 PM UTC
Hi,

I will be visiting Kiev alone early next month ( pleasure trip ). It will be my first time in Ukraine & i am unsure of where to book accommodation. Ideally it would be close to where public transport from the Airport . The hotel doesn't have to be luxury. Around 50 euro's per night would be great.

Also does anyone know best place to change my ££'s into hryvnas ? I have heard you get a poor rate at the Airport & it's difficult to get Ukranian money in the UK.

Finally is everything around the city in the cyrillic alphabet. This caused me massive problems in Sofia earlier this year with the street names & it took me 4 hours to find my hotel. ( yes i now know i should have got a taxi lol )

Many thanks in advance,

Darren.

Hi,
I'm looking for an affordable hostel in central Kiev. Some hostels seem to have bad reviews in Kiev.
Which are the ones that you could advise me in central Kiev (quiet and safe) ?
Is it possible to drop there without reservation in october and find a bed in a dormitory ?

Kiev Train between Kiev and Donetsk
Posted: Fri October 2, 2009 08:25 AM UTC
I plan to arrive in Kiev on october 13 and would like to take a train in the evening (7.44pm as I heard) to Donetsk. Do you think it's possible to buy a ticket on the same day in the middle of the week or are these trains quickly fully booked ? If it's full (the sleeping berths at least), can I still buy a ticket and get on this train ?
Is it possible to buy the ticket at Borispol when I arrive in Kiev ?
What other advice would you have ?
Thanks

Kiev New Year in Kiev
Posted: Mon September 21, 2009 02:07 PM UTC
Hello,

My friends and I are planning a trip to Kiev for New Year. I have a few questions, hopefully you can help me with please.

Approximately how much should we pay for an apartment with 4 beds for 5 nights? In a central location. (28 Dec - 02 Jan).

How easy will it be to get in a night club/late night bar on New Year's eve after the fire works/concerts in the Independance Square?

We like a drink (or 2!) and would be grateful for any recomendations for good restaurants, bars, night clubs to visit.

Thanks,

Jim

Kiev ATMs?
Posted: Sun August 9, 2009 05:48 PM UTC
I have a VISA card and would like to use it in Kiev. Are the ATMs using english language? In some countries there is a transaction fee taken by the home bank, which I believe will also apply to Kiev. However, are there any other fees for the local bank? Is it better to use ATMs of any specific bank?

Lots of quastions, but please help me.

Kiev Football in July
Posted: Mon June 29, 2009 11:50 AM UTC
Hello,

Only a couple of days to our trip and thanks to all those that replied to my previous post. Accomodation sorted and being a bit of a football nut my next question is, any pre-season football on between 2nd -13th July.

I tried e-mailing Dynamo Kiev, Arsenal Kiev and Obolon Kiev but so far I have not had any replies. I know Dynamo Kiev play in the Super Cup on 11th July but the game is not in Kiev :(

Are there any friendly games arranged ?

Kiev Going to Kiev for a week in December
Posted: Thu April 30, 2009 11:09 AM UTC
I am visiting Kiev in December 09 and looking for an apartment, but not sure what district or area would suit. I want to stay centrally to night spots as I will be going out at bars/clubs. The type of nightlife I am after are not the booming nightclubs, more the studenty type cafes and bars. Can anyone recommend some locations, streets, or even apartments or hotels that would be good to stay at for around $80USD? It would really help me narrow down the choices that abound on the web. R

Kiev Options to travel from Chisinau to Kiev
Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 07:07 PM UTC
I'm travelling to Moldova and Ukraine in June and had planned to travel from Chisinau to Lviv where my flight home left from. Unfortunately Wizz Air have just cancelled the routing from Lviv to UK.I've been offered a flight from Kiev but wondered what my options are to get there from Chisinau. I would prefer overnight train rather than bus if possible. Any help appreciated.

Kiev Visit to Kiev
Posted: Mon April 20, 2009 03:52 PM UTC
I'll be traveling to Eastern Poland / Western Ukraine (L'Viv) in June. I am contemplating a flight from Cracow to Kiev, and then taking the overnight train back to L'Viv. This will give me 2 days in Kiev. Is the short time worthwhile and sufficient to get a taste of Kiev?

Cheers.

Kiev Is Kiev a good tourist destination for Indians?
Posted: Mon March 16, 2009 06:07 PM UTC
We are a group of young men from INDIA, planning to visit Kiev for 3 or 4 days. It will be our first ever trip there. We have been to Istanbul before. Kiev is really new to us. We would like to understand if Kiev is safe for INDIAN tourists? Do many Indinas come to Kiev? Is there any location in Kiev, where we can find more indian together? What are the precuations to be taken by us? Where should we stay in Kiev so that we can easily access the nearest tour spots and as well as the nighlife? Could someone suggest whether it is better for us to stay in a hotel or in an apartment? Also suggest some good and economic hotels and apartments nearest to the centre of tourist attractions? Also, as we are bachelors, what are the safe and best points or places to have a really good stag experience? Really would appreciate genuine replies !!! If any good tour agencies are known to you suitable for indians, kindly refer them to us. We really want to have a good time and take some good memories with us when we leave Kiev.

Hello friends !

I plan to arrive at Zhulany Airport in the afternoon, onward to flight to Kharkiv is from Boris Airport.
I would prefer the bus service - rumours tell that there is such one.
Do you have info about a regular timetable for this bus service between IEV and KBP ?

Kiev Kiev in July
Posted: Tue February 24, 2009 02:25 PM UTC
Hello,

My wife and i are coming to Kiev July 2nd -13th. I have been looking at apartment agencies and there are so many. The following are some I am considering.

http://www.apartment.com.ua/

http://www.kievhotelservice.com/

http://www.apartment-kiev.com/

Does anyone know anything about these agencies. Also what is the best area of the city to rent in, are there any areas to avoid.

Also where would be a good place for day trips outside of the city.

Thanks

Kiev Kiev - Apartment rental
Posted: Thu January 22, 2009 10:26 AM UTC
Hi

Am currently planning a trip to Kiev in May. Can someone kindly give me the name of a reputable company who could rent me an apartment for 5 days or so.

Whats the weather like in Kiev in May?

I may be there on Mayday or Victory day. Is this a good time to be there?? Will everything be closed down OR will everything be horribly crowded and expensive??

All other information gratefully received!!!

Thanks

Kiev Tour Around the City....
Posted: Wed January 21, 2009 12:16 PM UTC
Does anyone know of a company that runs tours around the city in English?
I called the Hotel Lybid, but they only offer a private guide and a car, to take you around the city. I am interested in something that will offer a background on the city and its sights.

Thank you!
