I will be traveling to Kiev for vacation last week in August and 1st week in Sept. I have acquired an apartment. My question is how much US $ can I bring into country. I wish to pay apartment and have my vacations funds in cash. if possible I do not wish to use Credit cards. any information about currenies limits will be appreciated

Should I be concerned about bringing a black friend to Kiev?

I will be flying into Kiev's airport abreviated IEV (dont remember the name). I have a flight out of Borisopol airport 5 hours later. Can anyone tell me the route I would need to take to get between the two. I would like to cheapest way possible, so utilizing marshrutkas and the metro would be better for me than taking a taxi. And what is the travel time between the two? Is there some bus or service that connects the two directly?

Hi, I have read several posts on renting short time apartm in Kiev, but they do not cover my problem. Earlier I have used stay.in with good experience. However, now they do not answer my mails.The website of stay.in is still available on the internet so I do not understand the problem. If the apartments on their website is not available they should at least tell me that.

Does anyone have a suggestion/experience with another apartm renting agency? All info is highly appreciated.

Just a quick one. I know it's one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions, but to get a good feel of Kiev and in a sense, 'Ukrainian life', how many days do I require to see all the sights? My gut feeling is about 3?

My wife and I may splurge and make a quick trip to Kiev to see McCartney. I assume Independence Square is large enough to hold many people. I also see that there are some hotels approximately 1km to the southwest.

What hotel do you recommend for me and my wife? We want a blend of high quality at the lowest cost.

Is is safe to walk from the hotel to the square for the concert?

Is there places to eat/drink in the square or between the hotel and the square?

Any information that you can provide to us will help us make the decision to visit Kiev.

Where can we get wall socket adapters in Kiev?

I have a laptop from India. The voltage is same as Ukraine. But the Laptop plug has three pins/rods but the wall socket in Kiev Apartmenr has two holes. Where can I buy a adapter that has three holes on one side where I put laptop and two rods on other side which will go into wall socket?

Please this is urgent.....I landed in Kiev two days ago and no charge in laptop.....please help.

I will be staying in an apartm close to the Sofia church. I need to buy food, bread, water etc. Does anyone has a good suggestion for a food store? It does not have to be a big supermarket.

i'm thinking about going cycling through the Ukraine and i was wondering if there are any bicycle stores in Kiev.
it would kinda be easier just to buy the bike on location instead of dragging one on the plane from denmark.

I am trying to find and rent an apartment in Kiev online with the help of some agencies I have find while using google. All of them insist to have some prepayment for 1-2 nights in order my reservation to be considered done. I know it's normal but I have heard lately a LOT about fraud with credit cards online, about agencies that work only virtually to take your money and dissapear, about shown online apartments that are not for rent in reality...
This is why I would like to ask fellow VT members who have used such agencies to help me find a really serious one, because I am flying to Kiev on 22.08.2007.

I have to reach Anapa in 11-17 June 2007 from Lithuania. Does anybody know how I could do it in cheaper way? It is easy for us to get to Kiev. Are there any cheap flights to Krasnodar or Anapa from Kiev? Is there some train or buss? Maybe night train? Where I could check info?
