Lviv Lviv to Krakow - Advice needed
Posted: Thu April 3, 2008 09:36 AM UTC
Hello to all of you.

I am planning a trip to Lviv in a few weeks time by car from the North of Romania.

I have been considering lately to go for two days also in Krakow, Poland. I need a bit of inside information about which is the best way to do this.

Is it advisable to drive from Lviv to Krakow?
Is it a bad road?
Are the customs extremely congested?
Has any of you ever driven there? How much time did it take?
Would it be better to leave my car at my hotel in Lviv and take a bus/train from there?

Thanks in advance,
Mihnea

Lviv Stryj
Posted: Tue March 25, 2008 03:24 PM UTC
I've been given postcards that my Dad wrote in 1942, whilst in a German prison, to his family who lived in Stryj. The address given is ul Prywytna/Przywytna??. My family were forced to leave Stryj around this time, so I have no further information. Would street names have changed, once the country became part of the Ukraine?

Lviv Transfers from Krakow
Posted: Thu March 13, 2008 06:43 AM UTC
I am looking for a way to get from Krakow airport to either Przemysl or Medycina (spelling?), the walkover border crossing point between Poland and Ukraine. I am looking to avoid going into the city of Krakow and hope to find a direct transfer by bus (coach) or minibus service from the airport. Private car drivers are quoting fees of between US$400-525. The intended travel days are between 23-25 April.

Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Lviv Best train connections for traveling from Berlin to Lviv (Lemberg) via Germany, Austria, Hungary?
Posted: Mon February 18, 2008 11:02 PM UTC
Hi,

My boyfriend and I are flying from NYC to Berlin in August and plan to visit Germany, Austria, and Hungary on the way to a wedding in Lviv (Ukraine) using the Eurail select pass for three adjoining countries. We'll need to get back to Berlin to catch our flight back to the US a few days after the wedding.

Can anybody give us advice on the best train routes by train, including sleepers?

I've looked at some blogs on the web but they appear a few years old and not sure if things have changed since. Another thing is that my boyfriend is Mexican and I don't know if that would increase time spent with border controls on certain train connections. I'm German and both of us have valid passports and US work visas, but some blogs sounded a little scary with regard to border control delays....

We're not so keen on traveling via Poland or Czech Republic as those countries wouldn't be covered by our Eurail pass - we would need to buy separate ones for Eastern Europe and Germany (single country) pass, which is rather expensive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you in advance,
Maren

Lviv Retro Hostel Shevchenko? Safe or unsafe? Mixed reviews
Posted: Mon January 21, 2008 05:07 AM UTC
I just booked a room for 4 nights at Retro Hostel Shevchenko. The most recent reviews were good, so I figured it would be fine. And then, for some reason, I began to feel nervous, so I checked sites other than Hostelworld for reviews and found some REALLY BAD reviews and people reporting scary stuff happening at this hostel.

The question is, is this hostel ok (is the hostel unsafe)? Is it really awful?

Any advice/alternate suggestions?

Hi there!

I am going to live for Lviv for a period of 3 months (end of this month untill April late). Anyone can advertise me about the accomodation?
Where I can find accomodation for this period? When I look for accomodation (english writting web pages) all the thinks that I found is for tourists like hotels.
I am going for University and I want cheap accomodation like one single room in shared apartements with another students.
It is difficult? How much does it cost?

Many thank for help!

Lviv New year in Lviv
Posted: Tue November 20, 2007 03:42 PM UTC
Hello!
Me and my boyfriend are planning a trip to Lviv this new year.
Last year we went to Kiev and found Ukraine to be a nice place to celebrate in.
Do anyone know a good place in Lviv (restaurant) where we can make a reservation for a new years dinner?
Itīs very hard to find information on the Internet.. :(.
Witch Hotel should we book? There are not too many hotels in Lviv..
We want it to be nice and clean but not to expansive. And it should be in middle of everything... :)
Maybe its better to reservate an apartment?
Any tip for a New years trip to Lviv would be appricated!

Thanks for your help!

Lviv Traveling from Lviv to Kiev
Posted: Thu September 14, 2006 07:32 PM UTC
Hi there! :)

Can anyone, please, advise me a cheap and safe way of traveling from Lviv to Kiev?
I would like to take an overnight journey. I read about Ukrainian trains (being the cheapest way of traveling), but I'm going on my own, so do you think is's a good idea to take a platzkart? Or maybe I should take a coupe car? Or maybe the best way for me would be to take a coach? But here I don't have any information. What's the price difference between platzkart, coupe and a coach? Is there only one coach company or are there plenty of them (if so, which one do you recommand?). Where on the Internet can I find a timetable?
I would appreciate any help :)

Best regards! :)

Lviv Homestays in Lviv
Posted: Wed June 14, 2006 12:03 PM UTC
In September I plan to travel through Transcarpatia but also to Lviv. I found some organisations organizing homestays in Transcarpatia, but none providing privat accomodation in Lviv. Does anyone here know landlords renting out rooms with easy access by public transport?
We are two travellers and we are not keen on comfort, so a shared toilet is o.k. for us. I speak some Russian, so it is not problem, if the host does not speak English or German.
Hoping to get good advice!
