I will be in Ukraine at the end of March until the start of April. I have been to Lviv and Chernivtsi before, but am entering via Lviv on the 25th because of some free time and a cheap Ryanair ticket to Rzeszów. Because I only have ten days, I hope to concentrate on western Ukraine. I was thinking of a few days in Lviv, Yaremche and Kamianets-Podilskyi. Anyone have a suggestion for alternatives or additions. I am simply seeking a little nature / hiking while based in a picturesque town with some rooms, cafes/ beers in/ near the carpathian mountains. Any suggestions welcome.

Please can you suggest me a way to get to the Hotel from Airport keeping in mind the timings. I would also like to know the local bus timings and taxi fare. Any help regarding this will be highly appreciated! Please also advice if there will be any problem in communicating with the localites as I only know English.

My wife and I (we are in our mid-60s) will be travelling in Rumania, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Moscow in September. We have set aside three nights for a place in the Ukraine. We are undecided whether to spend this holiday time in Kiev or Odessa. The beach appeals to us - though we will already have spent three days on the Black Sea in Varna. Is Kiev or Odessa - or perhaps another Ukranian city - the preferred holiday destination for us?

So, I've now definitely decided to ditch the Hotel in favour of renting an apartment.
Can someone please explain to me how it's possible that the same apartments are being offerred by several different agencies, please?
What are the chances of getting ripped off (completely or the price going up) or being forced to take an apartment on arrival different to the one booked?
Any help would be much appreciated!

I want to hire a car with an English speaking driver.
It will start in Lviv and end in Kiev with multiple stops. Totally 3-4 days for me.
How much is it cost?
Another point is the car end up in Kiev. The driver may need to return back.
Any extra cost in my case?
Anyone has such a experience?

Anyone know anything about the hotel in Konotop? It is on the main street, right next to the city administration building. I ate lunch in a cafe next door to it last summer and we might want to stay in the hotel next time we visit, but I dont remember the name.

I'm considering visting Odessa with a friend in July or August this year.
I'm pretty clear on one thing: we'll be spending every night in one of the Arkadia beach clubs.
I've had a look at hotels and am very surprised at the small number of hotels available in Odessa and around Arkadia in particular.
I checked the availability for several and there was none. I'm talking 5 months in advance here. Some hotels never had any availability - not even in February or March! Is this the most popular holiday destination ever or do the online booking systems simply not work?
Alertantively can anyone recommend a good agency doing small appartments, please? And what's the deal with host families, please?
Any help is much appreciated!

What is the easiest way to get from Rzeszow to Lviv - taking a bus to Przemysl and then crossing the border on foot and taking a marshrutka?
What about the inward journey - is there a night train from Lviv to Warszawa?
I will be travelling to Lviv on 16th April and returning to Poland on 18th in the evening.

I plan a simple itinerary to visit friends, that is Lviv - Slavuta - Kiev.
Can anyone tell me what kind of transport should I choose?
Is it possible for me to depart in the morning and arrive another place on the same day.
Please suggest.

If you go through any part of Russia the enclave of Kaliningrad . You need a visa which can be very laborious to get .
I am not sure of my directions but If this is needed make sure that you get it before you go as there sre three pages of forms to fill in in triplicate.

We are planning to travel from Odessa to Istanbul in October 2010. We have checked a number of websites and the ferry timetable differs from a departure on a Monday or Saturday. Has anyone travelled around October on this route, if so, what day did the ferry leave? And when were you able to book the ticket for travel? Thanks R&J

1. Please share your information on VT-meet posted by me on 1-2 June 2010 - just after Euromeet in Krakow (transportation, accommodations):
http://meetings.virtualtourist.com/meeting-5082-1-0-706846-Lviv---meeting.html
2. What would you like to see/do in Lviv?
My suggestion is a walk (1 day) around the Old Town with a lunch somewhere there on the way and on the second day depends on weather (hopefully sunny) a trip (by taxis?) to Lviv High Castle, Schevchenko Forest (wooden, old cottages) and Lychakiv Cemetery.
Please, download Lviv in your Pocket, to get to know more, from here:

Hugs,
Matt.

I'll be volunteering in Kiev with a US-based organization and will need to find my own affordable accommodations for at least the first few weeks of my stay in Kiev. Can anyone offer suggestions for inexpensive hostels or housing situations that are attractive for a longer term stay?

We organize VT-meeting in Lviv, Ukraine on 1-2 June, 2010:
http://meetings.virtualtourist.com/meeting-5082-1-0-706846-Lviv---meeting.html
just after Euromeet in Krakow, Poland (28-30 May 2010).
However there are VT-ers who would like ti join the VT Meet in Lviv but need visas to get to Ukraine. One of them (from Malaysia) just e-mailed me the following info:
Tourist visa
These types of visa should be issued only on addressing of the travel company,
which are Ukrainian partner firms.
The following is required for tourist visas application:
· A letter of invitation from Ukrainian travel agency.
· Confirmation of hotel booking or itinerary, copies of air tickets with valid
dates.
http://www.mfa.gov.ua/malaysia/en/4754.htm
Q:
- is a copy of confirmation e-mail from hotel in Lviv enough to get a visa?
- what do you suggest to do if someone want to travel to Ukraine by train (no air tickets) and these train tickets are sold 60 days prior to arrival (not yet)?
Hugs to all,
Matt + Urszula.
