Zermatt Klein Matterhorn queues
Posted: Tue July 15, 2008 08:04 AM UTC
Hi!
I'm planning to go to Zermatt for just one day in one week (at the end of July).
I will come to Zermatt at 11 AM (return is at 6 PM). I would like to visit the Matterhorn glacier paradise and I would like to know what is the situation with queues for cableways which lead to the Klein Matterhorn.
I would like to know if I have enough time to go up with the cableway and to walk
around the city for 7 hours of my staying.
Thanks in advance!

Posted: Mon July 14, 2008 11:23 AM UTC
We will be driving from Germany into Switzerland and making our way down to Zermatt (6 hour drive). Do you have any suggestions on what to see along the way and what to see in Zermatt? We are leaving early Friday morning and coming back Sunday (not a lot of time).

Riederalp new bridge
Posted: Sun July 13, 2008 08:17 AM UTC
Yesterday a new suspension bridge linking Riederalp and Belalp across the Massa Gorge below the aletsch glacier in Valais canton was opened.

I'd really like to walk this trail when in Switzerland next week. Can anyone give more details about its starting point and length/difficulty of hike. Any info I have seen is all in German :-(

Many thanks

Zermatt travelling from Zermatt from Interlaken
Posted: Sun April 13, 2008 01:49 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm planning to make my way from Interlaken in the late afternoon to Zermat.
In a nutshell , I'm wondering how do I get there ? I have a Eurail pass.
...and what's the latest time I should be going ?
I hope the hotels accept late checkins in the late evening ?

Some tips please on nice clean, budget accomodation in Zermatt (hopefully within walking distance for me to take the Glacier Express train - where is it by the way ?)

Any nice spot for me to go see the Matterhorn early in the morning ? The glacier Express train leaves about 10am, so i have some hours there, I plan to wake up at 6.30am.

thanks!
E

thanks,

Hello- I'm planning on going to Zermatt for a weekend, and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a winter hike? There are so many hikes and excursions on the website, I don't know which ones are the nicest. I'm looking for scenic, less crowded, and could be a few hours. Thanks!

Zermatt Skiing in Zermatt
Posted: Thu February 7, 2008 06:21 AM UTC
I will be in Zermatt for a couple of nights (1 full day) at the end of March. I am not a great skiier but enjoy trying - do you think it would be worth the effort for one day of skiing or could I better spend my time seeing the village itself? Is skiing easy to organise (I will need to hire everything), and is it very expensive?

Would be greatful for any advice...

Zermatt Apres-ski in Zermatt
Posted: Sat December 22, 2007 03:52 PM UTC
Hello everyone,

I just need some tips about Zermatt. I hear so many great things and I'm planning on being there during the 1st week of March. However, I was informed that it takes forever to get to the main lifts in the morning (around 40-45 minutes)and another 40 or so minutes on the way back (in the evenings) and that there is extensive walking to be done while wearing ski boots, is this true? I also heard that it's not always easy to ski down to Cervinia (IT) due to the long lift lines.

Thanks

Sion International VT meeting on 15. August 2007 in wonderful Sion
Posted: Wed August 8, 2007 08:11 PM UTC
Hello VT members and friends,

VT member yumyum (CH) and me (HORSCHECK, D) are exploring the Swiss Canton du Valais next week (12.08.-19.08.).

Among other things we are planning a little VT meeting in wonderful Sion with the most famous VT member from that region (Tripack).

At this stage the schedule for the meeting is defined like this:

DATE AND TIME:
15.08.2007 - 16:00 h

MEETING PLACE:
Giorgio cafe at the Rempart Place (300m from Hôtel Elite)

After exchangig some travel stories including the latest VT gossip, a little walk around the town and a fabulous dinner, we might head of to the "Sion in Lights" event which starts around 22:15 h.

[ALL DATA IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE]

There are already rumours that another famous VT member from the US is in the region at almost the same time. So it would be great if we could meet all together.

Any other member who is interested to come please bookmark this thraed as all changes to the plan will be posted here.

Thank you.

We're planning a side trip to (Possibly )Zermatt in Mid November(After seeing Paris) We wouldn't be planning to ski, but I'd like an idea of how cold it gets it town, if there is still the option of doing any hikes/walks, or just sightseeing up the Matterhorn...I hear the village is beautiful!

Verbier Verbier Festival 2007
Posted: Wed March 7, 2007 11:03 AM UTC
Greetings...

Has anyone been to the Verbier Festival?
Was anyone at the All-Star Piano Extravaganza in 2004?
Anyone going there this July-August?

www.verbierfestival.com

Where would be an affordable place to stay?
Under USD50/night would be ideal as I plan to be there for most of the festival duration this summer.
Are there homestays available?

Thanks!

Verbier Any close by areas to stay around Verbier?
Posted: Thu December 14, 2006 01:10 AM UTC
We will be 2 girls in Verbier the week between Xmas and New Year. We have an apt till Dec 30th but having hard time to find accomodation for those 2 nights. Any other close by town that we can stay and easily drive to Verbier at those dates?
How difficult is it to drive to Verbier from Geneva? Is the road always icy or cleaned well and pretty much in good shape? IS it easier to get train and bus rather than renting a car? Thanks!
