I wonder if there is a stair to climb up to Glion, instead of going by train, as I remember I did 50 years ago and should like to repeat. In that time, when we arrived to Glion, I saw the biggest pan I ever saw, where there were cooking milk (?) to make cheese...
Hello, has anyone been to the kuklos revolving mountain restaurantin Leysin, if so can you tell me how much the cable car would be to get to it.
Thank you for any help

We will be meeting friends for one night in Lausanne. Research indicates that Lausanne is not car friendly, so we'd hope to leave the hired care somewhere safe and travel into town and our hotel by public transport. It's all new to us, so any suggestions - parking in suburbs, nearby towns, etc - as to where we could leave the car without it all ending in tears would be much appreciated. Thanks.
We will be meeting friends for one night in Lausanne. We'd hope to leave the hired care somewhere safe and travel into town and our hotel by public transport. Research indicates that Lausanne is not car friendly, and I've a few too many hysterical dinner-time stories already about car parking and the extraordinary things it does to blood pressure and to normally polite people's language. Any suggestions - parking garages in suburbs, nearby towns, etc - as to where we could leave the car without it turning into mayhem would be much appreciated. Thanks.
I am planning to leave China for Lausanne. Unfortunately, these is no direct flight to Launsanne. So I will flight to Zurich instead then to Lausanne by direct or intercity train. My question is how can i get to the Zurich Railway Station(is it called Zurich HB?) from Zurich Airport? iI this is the case, how long does it take from Zurich to Lausanne and how to book the ticket? Many thanks in advance
We're probably going to take the train from Montreux to Lausanne, and then a taxi (to carry our bag) down to the port to store our bag near the ferry. Is there a place at or near the CGN ferry to store luggage? It would be for a few hours mid-morning on a Monday in April.
Does anyone know if the Vevey Farmer's Market is open on Tuesdays also during the months of January and February? If so what hours?
Thank you so much!!
I WILL VISIT MONTREUX NEXT JUNE STAYING FOR A WEEK IN THE HOTEL RENE CAPT ,FIRIT TIME IN SWITZERLAND AND I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT ABOUT TOURS ,DAYTRIPS, ECT,WHICH ARE THE BEST ONES TO GO ON AND THE BEST TRIP TO FRANCE.

Is there a train station in Lausanne? I am planning to visit friends of the family in autumn of this year and want to know if I can take a train there, or have to fly to Geneva. If anyone has taken a train from Italy (possibley Rome) to Lausanne or Geneva, how much does it cost?
I will be in Lausanne on New Year's eve and was wondering about the best place to go to celebrate. I am hoping for a nice dinner followed by dancing. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for your help and happy New Year to all!
With so many transportation options available, I need some advice on which I should go for while in Switzerland based on this tentative plan :
1) Land in Zurich, take train from Zurich to Lausanne.
2) Stay in Lausanne for 3 days, visit nearby areas such as Ouchy, Olympic museum, Musée de l'Elysée, St. Francois, Cathedral or possibly further to Chateau de Chillion, Cully and Nyon
3) Train from Lausanne to Interlaken (Stay 4 nites), visit areas around Interlaken and Lucerne
4) Train from Interlaken to Zurich for return flight back to Malaysia
Based on this, should I go for the 8 day Swiss Pass, or Tell Pass, or just buy individual tickets? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
We will be staying in Lausanne for about 3 days, then have another 3 days in Switzerland before flying off to Malaysia from Zurich. Would it be better to stay on in Lausanne and travel to other parts by train over the 3 days, or move to another area (nearer Zurich) for the last 3 days?
Which area would one recommend? Lucerne, Interlaken are some areas that we are considering, or even Zurich itself.
Am looking at the option of flying into Zurich, then take the 2hr train to Lausanne cos there are no direct flights from Malaysia to Geneva. Would like to check though if it will be easy to manage if we have my luggage bags with us. I understand i need to change trains at Bern. Would we need to lug our luggage up and down staircases?
From the advice given on VT, it sounds like we should get the SwissPass for travel around Switzerland if we're going to be there >4 days. Should it be bought online or when we arrive? Thanks in advance for any advice.
I visited Nyon on 30 June 2007, (see my photo). Can anyone tell me if the Chateau is used often for Wedding receptions, as we saw some Japanese guests there in wedding attire, but could not see the Bride unfortunately, and we were also fascinated by the wonderful view of Lac Leman from the top, where the whole lake can be seen from Geneva to Lausanne. However, I did not like the construction work going on in the town with big cranes spoiling the skyline. this is not what we wished to see outside, but the Roman museum was most interesting, and it is possible that legionnaires en route to Hadrians Wall in Scotland, took a long stopover in Nyon, before that long trek 1200kms to the north! Bon chance ! "Sussexman" in UK
I've been wishing to take my family with me somewhere to nice country for such a long time, but there were just quick business trips. It's really so rare when we have a chance to have a good rest somewhere together. Now we have a chance to go to Switzerland for 5 days, spending 4 of them in Verbier and possibly one in Montreux. As to Verbier - the program is ok, but 1 day in Montreux is my own initiative. We'll be in 3 - me, my wife and 6 years old daughter. We just want to have a beutiful day there. Could someone recommend a good but not very expensive hotel (up to 250-300 CHF) and things to do and to see (we were thinking about Chillion, boat trip along the Lake, possibly going to Lousanne).
I would be very obliget to you all for any piece of advice!
I'll be in Lausanne from Nov 5-20th.
- wondering what the weather will be like
- and during that season, what touristy things I can do?
- will be there for biz meetings (8.30am-5.30pm)during weekdays, and can spare sometime during weekends.
- am wondering what I can do in Lausanne after 5.30pm, and what are possible weekend short trips?
- also wondering, if I am to extend 3-4 days thereafter for a short holiday, what would be suggested areas of visits?
am looking for guesthouse/bed and breakfast in lausanne or nearby for my family of 4-wife,2 young girls and me. desire private bathrooms. any recommendations?
Dear friends, I am going to spend 3 days in Switzerland - Geneve, Lausanne, Montreaux...How much money would do per day? I don't plan any special shopping, just a few souvenirs and some food of course. Please give me some idea of the living standard - how much do these cost: a cup of coffee, sweets, a lunch, a travel book? Regards!
