| Bangalore | first time in Bangalore Posted: Fri May 23, 2008 02:27 PM UTC
Hi!
I am going to Bangalore for 3 weeks in June-July. This will be my fist trip to India and I can hardly sleep at night, I am SO excited!!! I do not know what to expect - but I believe that that is the fun fo travelling, right?! I am going to be volunteering in an orphanage on the outskirts of Bangalore. I have no idea of what my job there will really entail or what my working hours will be, but I am quite sure that I will have some time off here and there to go discover the area a bit. So, I guess I would welcome ANY suggestions of things to see/do/explore/taste/wear/read/play/visit in Bangalore and the area that would be safe for a young female travelling alone. (I am REALLY into photography and children - I am a teacher here in the USA) Thanks! |

| Bangalore | Self drive MPV hire in Bangalore Posted: Wed May 7, 2008 11:54 PM UTC
My brother who lives in Bangalore, and I, are planning to meet up in Kerela, and then drive back to Bangalore.
Schedule is Bangalore-Cochin-Ooty-Bandipur-Mysore-Bangalore. We are looking to hire a MPV (Innova/Sumo) for 10-12 days on a self drive option. I have looked at the majors (Avis/Hertz/Europcar) but find their cost too prohibitive. Can you tell me if it is possible, and maybe pass on some contacts. My brother is a new banglorite and wouldn't have the contacts. Thank you for reading this post, and much appreciate any help you can provide. |

Let me know if you are interested or if you have any 'must-see' items to put on my list of to-do's. Anyone know where I can get some lessons in authentic Indian cooking? Thanks a million!!

Hi
We are planning a trip in late dec - early jan. The route we would like to do is Chennai or Bangalore, then going to Hampi (2 days) and proceed to Coorg (3-4 days). Would like to know is anyone has done this route and what is the best possible transport and route for this trip. 1. Are the road connections good between these places? 2. Are there places between Hampi and Madikeri that we can make a stopover at? 3. Absolutely recommended things to do in Coorg. Tx S. |

| Bangalore | Bringing wine from abroad to Bangalore Posted: Wed November 28, 2007 01:33 PM UTC
I am told that one can bring TWO WINE bottles into Bangalore while returning from abroad.
Does anybody have experience or know, whether one can get more than two bottles, without paying duty or getting the bottles seized?(for personal consumption and not for commercial purpose) Will the customs people at Bangalore airport allow like 5 or more wine bottles? Also, apart from the standard two bottles, is it allowed to get two bottles of liquor? or is the total quota is two bottles irrespective of wine or liquor? Please do help |

| Bangalore | I'll be in Bangalore for 2 weeks. Posted: Tue September 11, 2007 11:18 AM UTC
Hello!!
In about 4-5 weeks I'll be traveling to Bangalore for business and will be staying for approximately 2 weeks. I'll be staying on Residency Road. Just wondering if anyone can provide any tips on what to do and what to avoid etc? This will be my first time over seas and I want to be as prepared as possible. I have been reading many tips on here, a lot say be careful of customs - I just bought a new digital camera which I'm planning on using over there! Anyway, if also someone can tell me what temperature I can expect around this time of year, and also I'd like to know if Residency road is walking distance to M.G Road & Brigade Rd etc. And of course any other advise & tips anyone would like to share....... |

| Bangalore | Help Please! Posted: Tue August 7, 2007 09:46 PM UTC
Hi can anyone give me some advice please? I am visiting a friend in Bangalore around November/December-2007, I have never been to India before and am worried about the weather being to hot as I have very pale skin I burn very easy, so living in England suits me fine with all the rain lol, can u tell me if I need to have a visa even for a week or two. I am not a well travelled person and as I will be going alone am very nervous especially having to change flights and the length of time it takes to get to India, I hope I don't lose my nerve and bottle out of the trip, thanks.
