Mumbai Party in Mumbai?
Posted: Thu January 3, 2008 07:38 AM UTC
Hi Mumbai!

A friend and I will be visiting Mumbai from Australia (Melbourne) at the end of this week and are keen to sample the famous night life! We have Indian origins but born/raised in Australia - so unfortantely I still feel like a foreigner! I was in Mumbai for two days in Dec 07 and had an awesome time in Bhandra! Zensi and Seijo were both Fab. Am keen to check out the 5 star venues like Enigma and Insomnia. If anyone has any recommendations that would be most appreciated.

Also, if there's any locals or expats who want to meet up we'd be glad to! Also, we hear there's difficulty getting into clubs as "stags" - is this true? If so, if there's any girls out there who love to party let us know :)

We're both keen on meeting people on this trip to share travel stories and places to visit! We were in Goa for NYE and had an awesome time - can definitely share some tips if anyone is heading to Goa. India rocks :)

I can be contacted via email @ navinanr@gmail.com.

Cheers,

Navinan.

Mumbai Buying Renting a Motorcycle
Posted: Thu December 27, 2007 09:09 AM UTC
I’m heading to Mumbai, India from Jan. 8 to Feb. 8 and I want to spend that time on a motorcycle riding the countryside.
Does anyone have any suggestions or can point me in the right direction to finding a motorcycle?

I’d like to rent one for 4 weeks or buy one used and sell it at the end of the trip.

The thing about buying is that I don’t want the hassle and the time of trying to sell it – so is there a place to buy one with a buyback plan. So when I get back to Mumbai I can just go back to the place I bought it and they will just buy it back (at a loss to me of course but that’s ok)

Thanks

PS. A Royal Enfield would be the preferred choice – but at this late date I’ll take anything that’s reliable.

Mumbai Jan 30 through Feb 4, 2008 - Looking for Fellow Travelers to Experience Mumbai
Posted: Thu December 27, 2007 06:43 AM UTC
Hello all! I am in Mumbai from Jan 30 to Feb 4 (maybe longer) to see/experience/laugh/learn all I can during my time in Mother India (approx 3 weeks). I wouldn't mind meeting up with fun-loving, like-minded fellow sojourners, foreign or local, in order to enrich the experience. Let me know if you are interested or if you have any 'must-see' items to put on my list of to-do's. Thanks a million!!

ps - Mumbai is the beginning of the journey, if anyone is interested in the intinerary pls let me know as I am traveling alone.

Mumbai Information please on Pyrkes
Posted: Tue December 18, 2007 01:10 PM UTC
There was a Pyrke's hotel in Mumbai many years ago (which was infamous for having a sign reading "no dogs,no Indians"), and I believe there is (or was until quite recently) a well-known restaurant called Pyrkes.

Does anyone in Mumbai know of these places? I am researching the Pyrke family, and I believe these places may have been founded by ancestors of mine.

If anyone knows anything of these plafes, would you be so kind as to contact me: gategarden@hotmail.com.

Many thanks.

We have an 8yr old and 12 yr old with us and do not want to leave them on the night.

can anyone suggest a good family freindly party zone. i am guessing one of the big hotels will be the best and have emailed most of them already, awaiting a response.

i am hoping somebody has some up to date info that may help.

My husband and I are arriving in Mumbai early February and thought it might be good to acclimatise by spending 4 nights in a hotel near Marve Beach or Madh Beach before setting off on our travels. Can anyone recommend accommodation around there, or somewhere similar - say around 3,000 INR per night?

Mumbai Money-transfer to India
Posted: Sun November 4, 2007 11:29 AM UTC
Hallo together!
I will travel to India - but at the very very High-Season End of December/Beginning of Januray 2008. And so I will arrive at Mumbai just at Midnight between the years. Almost all Budget-Hotels are sold out in these days. One of the last (good) beds is available... but I need to pay the rate advanced. But I don´t know how to transfer Money from Germany to a Hotel-Adress in india - without Paypal, Western Union, cheque (all not possible...) What do I need for a Money-Transfer to India. Or: Who knows another good Budget-Hotel in Mumbai?

Hopefuly

Mumbai pub type places around town?
Posted: Sat October 27, 2007 05:03 AM UTC
I'm visiting some cousins in Bombay on Monday. Its been a long long time since I have visited. Most cousins are now older, working all day, married w/kids etc. Evenings will be busy but days I have it pretty much to explore.

I'm quite keen to just venture out around town and see the sights with a backpack and camera. After exploring so much..is there any area that has a pub/restruant type area? I'm thinking similar to places like "The Rocks" in Sydney or Southbank in Melbourne or SOHO in NYC, or Santa Monica in LA..just a whole suburb or plaza of funky places to eat and drink (solo or in a group). So after a few good hours of exploring, can anyone recommend a nice place in the daytime to get a cold beer?

And lastly, I've found out there is a Fitness First in Mumbai and my aussie membership is valid. Anyone know if this gym is any good? FF is the "fast food" of Gym's in Australia, they are everywhere, but they all have good facilities. I've been told the one in Mumabi is downtown, so I'm thinking this is ideal...burn a few calories...have a shower right here in town and then go out and put some calories back in :)

Cheers

Mumbai Can I use the airport shuttle without a valid ticket (am ready to pay taxi fare)???
Posted: Fri October 12, 2007 07:15 AM UTC
Hello, my flight to BOM domestic terminal reaches around 2200 and have to meet someone at the international terminal. So I basically don't have an international flight ticket, but need to get to the international airport. As am travelling alone I dont want to do that trip at night by taxi and was wondering if I can get the airport to airport shuttle? If thats not possible, how safe is it to hire a taxi at night, as I read that there are no prepaid taxis from terminal 1B where I will be arriving.... Hope someone can put my worries to rest ;) Warm regards!!

Mumbai bollywood movie studio tours
Posted: Mon September 24, 2007 06:55 AM UTC
Shall be spending three days in Mumbai in February next year and wonder if anyone has had experience with a tour through a movie studio. Have found some sites that state that the sets are closed to the public, but admission can be 'arranged'. Am curious to know the cost of such an 'arrangement', and is it a worthwhile visit.

Mumbai friends and fun in mumbai
Posted: Thu September 13, 2007 12:28 PM UTC
Hi all-

I am on a 4 month trip in India which began at the start of september. I am working and living in Mumbai for the first 2 months (until the beginning of November) and I am looking to meet up with people who are traveling/living in the area here who want to see the city, discover the culture, eat some delicious food and go out at night!

It is more safe (and more fun) for a woman to do these things with a companion so I'm wondering if anyone is around and can make some time for a new friend!

Email me if you are in the area during my stay and want to chill.
Cheers,
Emma
