I will be traveling to India this year... very excited about seeing the Kerela backwaters, but also, I will be going to resorts in cochin, alleppey and kumarakom .... were any of these effected by tsunami? Thank you for your help!

Hi to all!
We will be arriving in Cochin by cruiseship for just one day on Sunday Nov 28 from about 9:00m to 5:00pm. We would like a "private" English-speaking tour guide w/car for the day for transport from and to our ship and to sightsee, enjoy lunch and soak up the atmosphere. Do you know of a guide or can you direct us to one? Do we need a guide? What are some must-see things to do and see in our very short time?

What should I expect and what is the social/leasure life. I hear a lot of good general comments, but some tips are welcome.

Have you any idea how long it will take to get through customs etc at the airport in Cochin?

.. and then how long a taxi journey will take from the airport to Fort Cochin at around 5am. Also how much is this taxi journey likely to cost?
