Getting from Goa to Kochi Posted: Sun August 26, 2007 06:36 PM UTC
We are a couple in our mid-60s planning to spend a couple of weeks in Kerala next March/April.
We will be flying into Goa to spend a few days there but are having difficulty sorting out the best way to get from Goa to Kochi. My preference was to go by train but having been told by "one-who-knows" not even to think about anything other than 1st Class Air-conditioned travel I have now learnt that there is no such thing on this route and that we would also need to travel overnight. Is this correct? (I am having trouble finding the information on the various Indian railway sites.) If so, what would be the best way to make the journey, but please don't suggest by bus!! An intermediate stop for a few days could be considered as our schedule is extremely elastic.
Many thanks for any advice.

4 to 5 days in Kerala Posted: Mon April 16, 2007 07:01 PM UTC
We (my wife and I) are plannig a trip to India and would like to stay some days at Kerala. We are delighted on what we read about back waters and house boats.
It seems that Cochin should be the entry/exit place.
1) Taking into account on what we read, Kumarakom should be our destination, but we received also advise on Aleppey. We are wondering if visiting the two places would add something special regarding staying at only one city.
2) How (or where) we select and make reservation for a house boat?
3) Taking any other boat trip adds something to the house boat experience?
4) if our trip is in october/november, would we have any chance to make any ayurveda experience?
5) We would like also to go to Lakshadweep Islands and we wonder which company make the flights in order to check prices. Perhaps there are also some ship to the Islands

Reliable Travel Agents in Cochin? Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 03:33 PM UTC
Hello,
I'll be visiting Kerala this Summer. Wondering if any of you have used the services of a local travel agent while you stayed in Cochin? I hope to plan a trip to Lakshwadeep or Agatti while in Kerala so I'm hoping to book directly through a local agency. If you can refer me to one, please provide me with travel agency name, agent's name, and their direct email address.
Thank you!

A set of Photos on SD card looking for its owner Posted: Tue April 3, 2007 07:50 PM UTC
A visitor or a couple, possibly from Japan, seems to have lost their pictures of their visit to Cochin on or around 18 or 19 of March. I was shown the pictures at a travel agency, so I took the liberty of copying them. If any one who knows them or could identify them, I would be happy to forward their pictures to them. I know how it must feel to loose your travel pictures.
The couple look Japanese and possibly in their middle to late twenties. the photos are dated as above. or any suggestion how i could post those pictures, which are just innocent travel pictures of fort cochin, beach scences and backwaters, so that the rightful owners might see them?
Greetings from Cochin, where the dinner at Palms Restaurant at Metropolitan Hotel at Ernakulum was more than sumptious..

Cochin to Yangon Air Fare Posted: Sun February 25, 2007 04:12 PM UTC
During the week of Pesach, 2nd April to 9th, 2007, I would like to travel from Cochin to Yangon ( One Way ). Cochin to Bangkok via Sri Lankan or Jet via Kolkata, Indian via Bangalore or Singapore via silk air and then connect with Air Asia or Thai from Bangkok or MH from KL or Silk air from Singapore.
Could someone who knows about airfares out of india, preferably with connections to a travel agent in Cochin, find out for me, one way fare from Cochin to Yangon? I would prefer to do the journey without having to stop over overnight. The best i have found is srilankan to singapore via colombo and then connect with jetstar to Yangon. air fare given for that is 10 000 inr plus 230 sgd. Any help would be appreciated. the date of departure from COK would be 5th April. Muchas Gracias. Nanri.

Please write to me if you know anything about Zheng He's visit to Cochin. I am sure it was he who brought the Chinese Fishing nets to cochin. Thank you.
