We are making plans to attend the Holi, Elephant Festival in Jaipur on Feb 28, 2010. Any suggestions?

Has anyone stayed at Hotel The Wall Street in Jaipur before? I would welcome first-hand feed-back, since my travel agent is offering to 'upgrade' me free of charge to this hotel for my two night stay in Jaipur in October.

best place to stay in jaipur in a budget of Rs 4000 - 5000 /day

I am having difficulty locating accommodation at the end of December for my budget (Rs.300 pp/night. Does anyone who has stayed at the Vinayak Guest House have an opinion on their location and quality of accommodation. Thanks for your time.

I'm going on a tour arriving in Delhi the beginning of Dec. Is it necessary to get immunizations. My doctor says it is. I'm a bit leary of taking typhoid, malaria, hepititus plus additional things. I was in Jaipur over Christmas and New Year and loved it so much I plan to return in summer. One thing I'm wondering: is it possible to attend a traditional Indian wedding? I saw a tour offering this but I dont want to book a full 7-day tour as I prefer to travel with private guides and take things at my own pace. I was told by someone that around new year (late dec-early jan) Hindu weddings do not take place as it is inauspicious, and something to do with astrology - is this actually true or just a con?
I thought it'd be very strange if no weddings at all took place during that time of year.

Please let me know any info or how to book to attend one.

In terms of treavel tips, I stayed at the gorgeous Rambagh Palace and would highly recommend it, it is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world and no-one can say it isn't worth the money.

Has anyone experienced the Elephant Festival in Jaipur? I think it will take place on March 3rd 2007 at the same time as Holi, but I am not sure. Would you recommend it?

I am travelling to Ajmer from Jaipur. How much do the taxi people charge for one way fare from Jaipur Airport to Ajmer. Also how far is the Jaipur railway staion from Jaipur Airport as I was thinking of maybe taking a train to Ajmer from Jaipur. How much do the taxi people charge from Jaipur Airport to Jaipur Railway station. I am taking a flight from Mumbai to Jaipur.

We will arrive at Jaipur airport at 4:10 am and return fligt will be at 4:55 am.
Will this cause problems to find transport?
Is there a security problem at night?

Where is a suitable hotel or resort well located close to the main action, not too over priced, interesting and yet comfortable, and reasonably priced. One more question. As I'll be travelling to and from Jaipur on Shatabdhi Express and it arrives in Jaipur around 11am and leaves around 6pm how many days I should spend in Jaipur if my whole stay in India is 7 days, of which some I should devote to Agra and Delhi?

Should the duration of my Jaipur stay be like this:
1/2 day (the arrival day afternoon) + 1 day + 1/2 day (the departure day morning to late afternoon, or

1/2 day (the arrival day afternoon) + 2 days + 1/2 day (the departure day morning to late afternoon?

We are traveling to Jaipur in November - as third leg of the Golden triangle of course.

From Jaipur we want to get to Cochin. Ideally we would fly but there doesn't seem to be any direct flights. Can anyone suggest the best way to get to Cochin? Via Mumbai perhaps , or Delhi?
