We have flights on hold for a 2 week stay in Kovalam in November. We are looking to stay at the Hotel Neelakanta. Have tried to contact the hotel but emails have been returned can anyone please offer any information on this hotel – is it as good as it looks? Or offer any other way of contacting the hotel. We'll be in Kovalam on Feb 7th and I have made a beach cottage reservation in Pappukutty Beach Resort. Does anyone know this place? I only booked for 2 nights to check the area and eventually get something better... We are looking for a typical beach cottage in Kovalam or Varkala. I've heard of Kerala Bamboo House but no web site...Any advice would be welcome...

For a number of reasons we had to cancel our trip to Kerala but now want to rebook. We were told by our travel company that Le Meridien was carrying out lots of building work. Anyone know how that hotel is now? And any recommendations on the best company to book with?

Does anyone know of any PADI schools in the area?
If not - where are the nearest?

Also, if anyone as any tips on things to do while I'm there, please feel free.

My friend Joy David who I met in 1991 works at Simi Cottages in Kovalam and runs a small book stall. I last had email from him on December 24th and I've been away from my email until now (on holiday). I would appreciate if anyone has any information on him - I so hope that he and his family are okay.

Information about how Kovalam has been affected by the tsunami would be much appreciated too. I have been unable to find much information online about it.

I'm going in a group of 4 to stay in kovalam in september. Previously stayed on lighthouse beach which had great nightlife but the hotel was pretty basic. We fancy splashing out a bit more this time but still want to be within walking distance of a lively beach (never saw anywhere other than lighthouse last time). Any advice on the best compromise between posh hotel and having fun!?
