I already booked flight tickets to Leh, and also a hotel. All I need is a scorpio, or an innova to drive around there. Can I get info about that?

Hi all,
I and wife are travelling to Leh in June for 7N/8D. We have already completed all arrangements for the trip through a local tour operator, including pre-blocked air tickets (to and fro Delhi). Our customized itinerary is probably the best that one can get since it was decided after taking help from frequent travellers to Leh (thanks to them!). It is of course much different and better than what typical commercial tour operators generally offer. Also, the customized package includes the best possible hotels, meals, other requirements, local transportation, etc at a decent price. We are travelling from 14th June to 21st June. It will be great to have company of another couple who is willing/planning to travel to Leh during the same dates (since the tour operator will be able to offer discounted air tickets only for those dates). More importantly, local transportation cost will be much reduced if the Innova/Scorpio is shared by two families since there's a good amount of travelling around Leh. Hence, overall package price per person will reduce. Ideally, four people in an SUV should be good enough for sight seeing.

The package should be available only till the pre-booked air tickets are available with the tour operator. Current prices for air tickets from Delhi to Leh in June are extremely high.

Hi!
I'm planning on traveling to Leh in the middle of June 2012 by myself. I don't want to spent my entire trip alone so where is the best backpackers to stay at to meet people? Do many tourists travel to Leh in June?
Also what are the top 5 must see's of Leh or any other tips you might have.

Dear All,
I am planning to visit Leh/Ladakh on 8th June till 15th June 2012. Please post your comment and suggestions on my following points.
1. Whether this time is suitable for visit LEH? My kid is 4 years old, is it adviceable to take him alongwith?
2. Seven day visit is sufficient for the place? what are your suggested places I should visit?
3. I am going by air from Delhi to Leh. In such case what extra care I should take?

am looking to visit Leh in early April, maybe the 2nd, for about 6/7 days. Is weather fine around this time to visit most of the attractions?If anyone has recommendations on affordable tours for 2 would be much appreciated, thanks!

Hello everybody,
I feel VT members are most courteous. With my wife I am planning 15/20 days tour of Jammu-Kashmir-Leh-Ladakh in May 2012 starting from Mumbai.But......
1.is it ok to or it will be too much exhaustive
2Leh to Srinagar OR Srinagar to Leh, which is better option
3.which medicines/miscllaneous items we should carry to combat acclimitazation @ other issues
4.can anybody suggest itienarary & reliable tour operators for same
5.Finally which spots we must cover in JK LEH LADAKH , avoiding repeatations.

Hello all,
I am just starting to plan a trip to Leh. I read in another thread the suggestion to acclimatization by staying first night in Kargil (2693) , second in Alchi ( 3100) , third in Leh (3505).

1. I plan to fly from New Delhi, how can I deal with altitude sickness? Will the weather be better at this time?

pls guide me need to visit mumbai to leh-ladahk from 8th december to 18th december
with my 5 friends
1) need information about weather
2) best sight seeing places in december
as we are planning to go mumbai to leh by flight and return journey by road and train
pls sugest which will more eaiser for leh to jammu to mumbai

I want to visit leh on the srinagar-leh-manali route sometime in May'12. What will be taxi fare for a 10-seater?. There will be three families. Where will we stop and in which hotels shall we take accomodation? Can anyone help me with some phone no. of taxi operators and hotels?

I am planning to visit Leh-Ladakh and Nubra Valley somewhere mid to end of December.
Will fly in and out of Leh. However, I need some advise, if its possible to
go Nubra Valley at that time.

I am planning a trip to Leh in june 2012 by car . I want to go to Leh from Delhi via manali then while returning I want to come through Srinagar . I want to know if it is possible to go in a car on this route ? ( or only 4X4s can go there ). Can someone help in making the itenary as to where I can get food ,petrol etc. And where should I make night halts? What other precautions do I need to take ? Thanx

We are a group of ten people in the age-group 60+. We are visiting Leh for 4 days during the last week of September. Kindly advise what kind of weather we can expect and what precaution we should take. Also, whether there are any nearby sight-seeing places which do not involve long and strenuous drives.

Hi,
We are planning to go to Leh mid august from Dehli. But it seems like the roads are dangerous this time? Is it safe to travel to Leh by roads in august? How much does it cost to do so and what is the best way going from Delhi to Leh? Trains and busses to and from which cities?
Advice on this would mean alot! Thanks!

what all do i need to carry . how is the temp. in leh,nubra and sham valley during this part of season.

Dear VTs,
Just got opportunity to visit Leh for a four days. As always I have turned to you all for a few guidance on this trip.
Visiting there in 1st week of Sept on solo trip. Will it be very cold then?
I wonder how I can see sightseeings there as it shall be costly hiring full taxi. Can you guide how I see attractions there economically?
Any recommendation on budget hotel? Any other tip?

Greetings,
I am planning to visit Leh in the first week of June for a week and need to be able to make calls from Leh to USA. Are there good / reliable coneections using mobiles, intenet cafes with skype or from telephone booths ? Since I will be carrying my mobile, that is the most preferable option. Any info will be appreciated.

Hello,
I'm going to fly from Delhi to Leh around the 6th of September, 2011 then hopefully travel by land back down South to Manali, Dharmsala etc
I'm looking forward to the Ladakh festival but I'm wondering does the Ladakh festival have any bearing on finding accommodation in Leh and the Ladakh/ region? Is the festival concentrated on one specific region or spread out over the area? How big and well celebrated is it? I'd like to trek and travel in the region until the end of September then travel by road at the beginning of November. Are the roads generally still open at the beginning of October to head South to Dharmsala? Also what temperature weather is there in September? I suppose I can buy any heavy warmer gear in Leh if needs be?

I would like to know whether taking a tour pkg would be economical or reaching there and managing things would be a better option.Can we hire cars there and then travel by ourselves.

I am planning to go to Leh at 2011, and will go in by flight and exit with bus.
Of course I will be glad if I get cheap rate for flight. So, maybe someone here know when usually King Fisher and Jet Airways offer best deal.
