we(myself and my wife) have planned a stay at srinagar during may26 to may29 and I dont have any idea where to stay and how to hire a guide. whether hiring a guide is a good idea or not??? During the stay we are also planning to visit gulmarg,pahalgam and stay at houseboats. Whether I have to book a hotel in advance???

Package to Kashmir during End of May 12 - 10 day trip to Jammu, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, sonamarg - Accommodation in Budget/3 star hotels, exclusive vehicle for 6 people for all 10 days - 75k is the quote. Is it good?
The houseboat offered in Srinagar is Nanga Parbat Fleet of house boats. Are these good?

Hello, i am new to this forum.planning for Kashmir trip in May2012,have made follwing trip plan,
Day1 Srinagar arrival Dal Shikara ride overnight to Deluxe houseboat
Day2 Srinagar city tour
Day3 Srinagar-Gulmarg overnight to Gulmarg hotel
Day4 Gulmarg exploration
Day5 Gulmarg to Pahalgam, overnight to pahalgam
Day6 Pahalgam exploration overnight to srinagar
Day7 SrinAGAR- Sonmarg, overnight to sonmarg hotel
Day8 sonmarg exploration,overnight to srinagar
Day9 Srinagar-Yusmarg, return to Srinagar
Day10 Srinagar return journey to jammu
But 1. is it wise to go from Gulmarg to Pahalgam,skiping Srinagar 2.plz suggest midrange hotels/houseboat for all destinations. 3.how much a Indica shold cost, for whole trip. plz suggest good travel agency for hiring Indica 4.
plz suggset good but less known spots of this area.5. Finally.................how to tackle Motion sickness for long journey of srinagar to jammu.

I am planning to visit in srinagar on en of Mar'12 for 7-8 days.
Can somebody help me in making my tour plan, including fare budget hotels & staying in Shikara.

We will be visiting kashmir during end of May. places we will be visiting are srinagar, gulmarg, pahalgam, sonamarg. Have seen multiple trekking options available, but of them are spanning for 2 to 3 days. I am looking for a simple 1 day trek (I am an amateur, hence cant do complex steep treks) which offers good views and experience. Please suggest.

We a party of 23 persons have planned to visit kashmir in last week of March,2012.We hve booked our accomodation in govt lodges.
1.Is their any time restriction for entry and exit of 25/26 seater bus in the cities of srinagar.gulmarg.pahel gam?
2.Can The bus reach to the door steps of gulmarg and pahelgam govt.huts?
3.Any restrictions on Local sight seeing in srinagar/gulmarg/pahelgam by bus.
4.Is wheelchair on rent is available for entire tour 24th of March to 30th march'2012.Where to contact?

We are planning to visit Srinagar in May 2012. I would like to book houseboat in advance. Is there a web site where I can view the house boats and book online. If not, looking for contact numbers of the houseboat booking. Also looking for advise on best house boats. How much would I need to spend per day for a 3-star kind of house boat

which is the best hotel besides the lalit to stay in srinagar. budget is not an issue
and the best houseboat as well
what would be the temperature end of april....

I am planning to travel to srinagar between 18th March to 24th March with my family. My questions are:
(1) Please give openion about the Hotel Nehru in srinagar, its cleanlyness, sevice, rooms condition, location etc.
(2) Is it safe to travel srinagar during this period?
(3) How will be the climate during this period?
(4) What should be the most reasonable transporation and hotel charges including vegetarion food during the period (for a confortable, happy and memorable journey of kashmir for this period?

I am visiting Srinagar for just 3 days in october last week [ 22 - 25 ]. Can I cover Gulmarg, sonamarg, pahalgam and srinagar in 3 days ? Would skiing be ready in Gulmarg during this time ?

How is Hotel Centaur Lake View as an option In Srinagar? What is the difference between rooms on Ground floor, First Floor and Top Floor? How is the quality of rooms at Hotel Centaur Lake view? We planning to visit in May.Need to book ASAP. And what kind of rates would be right?

I've been many years ago in the wonderful Srinagar, Kashmir. I would go back there and I'm interested to know how safe it's now... I mean not only the city, but also its surroundings, like the Srinagar-Kargil road.

whats the weather like?
is it safe?
how long from the airport to dal lake?
are the deluxe houseboats nice to stay in?

My wife and I will be visiting Srinagar and Gulmarg at the end of Dec 2007. I heard that the Srinagar airport has very tight security and hope VT members can advise me on what to expect when we are there.
Also, am I allowed to hand-carry my digital camera onto the plane from Delhi to Srinagar, and on the way back from Srinagar to Delhi? This is because I think the Himalaya mountain scenery should be very beautiful during the flight and I intend to take some photos while on the plane.

I always wanted to visit srinagar.Is it safe and ideal time regd climatewise to visit srinagar around end of october 2006.
Has anyone visited the same recently ,would like to hear abt the experiences.could anyone point out any tour packages for the same.

Hello,
My father is planning for a trip to Amarnath. We are from Chennai. I will make arrangements for him to reach through flight from Chennai to Delhi and from Delhi to Srinagar.
If you could assist me in the trip details from Srinagar to Amarnath - it would be helpful . The payment details per person for the entire trip from Srinath to Amarnath and back to Srinagar, the probable dates - how many persons will be treated as group in a trip etc..
I will wait for your earliest reply - once i get your reply - i would like to immediately book it.

I'm planning to stay in a houseboat for a weekend in october. as a birthday surprise to my wife.
I read a review by husain here that the houseboats are old and they stink.
So which would be the best(read clean) houseboat to stay in.
