Will heading for a 4 week trip around Rajasthan in less than two weeks time. I am on a budget but I want to break it for a couple of nights in a luxory hotel by the lake in Udaipur. has anybody got any recommendations where to stay, a kind of like a fancy palace style, I think it has do be done as this could be my last trip to India.

After evaluating the travel time between flight/train/car I have planned to drive from Udaipur to Indore. Can you please tell me whether it would be a good idea? I am not sure whether highway (NH-79) is well maintained or not.

We are a family of four (2kids 12 and 9) coming to Udaipur late June/early July for 3 nights. I know it is not the best time but that's our vacation time :( I would like to know what activities are available at this time other than sightseeing. For example: I have heard about camel safaris, desert campfires, dance programs, jeep adventures, etc. Are any of these recommended or available during my time period there? Really appreciate informative replies. Thanks a bunch!

iam travelling from mumbai to ahmedabad by road in december. can i get the following information/suggestion/advice?

1 what is the distance between mum to ahd in kms?
2 how much time does it actually take to travel i mean the traffic the bottelnecks etc?
3 any good hotels on NH8 wher i actually dont enter the city but stay close to NH8 as we wd be travelling onward to udaipur.
4 what is the distance between ahmedabad to udaipur?and how many hours does it take
5 want good suggestions for places en route to halt refresh and dine!!
6 HOMESTAYS in udaipur especially near the jagadeeshwara temple.does anyone know of a homestay hotel vikram palace in shivajinagar area run by dr rathod?i have stayed at this place but i dont jave the new tel numbers.

any more information wd be useful as iam travelling on NH8 for first time.

Hi. There are disturbing rumours that the lakes at Udaipur have dried up - is this true?
Any reports about the general scene there would be welcome too.
