house or flat to lease/rent in Varanasi? Posted: Sun May 3, 2009 03:03 PM UTC
My family and some of our friends are traveling to Varanasi in Jan 2011 and plan to be there 6 mos- 1 yr. We are attending schooling while there, and need to rent or lease a house or flat. There will be 5 adults and 2 children total in our group, so the place must be large enough for all of us. Does anyone know a good secure resource online to begin looking at rentals so we can budget pricing? Our ultimate plan is to just look online prior to visiting to ensure we can afford to lease a place large enough, and then actually sign a lease once we arrive and have had time to look in person.
Help in this area would be greatly appreciated!

Accommodation riverside Posted: Thu October 9, 2008 12:12 AM UTC
I shall be visiting Varanasi early next year and am aiming to stay at a hotel that overlooks the riverside ghats. I assume that quite a few hotels exist, but am looking for a HIGHER quality one. I would appreciate any advice on which hotels offer a view and are of a fairly high standard. I believe that the top quality hotels are quite far from the river, and while they would certainly offer a high degree of comfort, there distance rules them out. Many Thanks

Bus from Varanasi to Bodhgaya Posted: Thu September 18, 2008 03:08 AM UTC
Is there bus service from Varanasi directly to Bodhgaya? If so, how can I get a schedule? Is there any internet site that would have such information? Otherwise, does any traveler have details? Thanks.

Varanasi- Bodh Gaya- Lumbini- Kathmandu route Posted: Thu October 4, 2007 11:47 AM UTC
Hi,
It puzzles me finding out what is the best route to cover these destination. I plan to go to Nepal from India, visiting Varanasi and Bodh Gaya before enterning Nepal.
What is the better route? Can i go from Bodh Gaya to Lumbini or Kathmandu directly? Is it possible to travel from Varanasi to Lumbini first before arriving Kathmandu.
I don't mind travel on bus and train. I assume that scene along the way must be rewarding. But having very limited time, I would appreciate if you give me some tips of the route to avoid unnecessary duplicate trips, such as
Varanasi- Bodh Gaya - Varanasi (again)- Kathmandu- Lumbini- Kathmandu (again)- Everest base camp.
I'll be flying from Mumbai. Thanks a lot.

Travel Varanasi to Dharamsala Posted: Thu November 30, 2006 02:46 PM UTC
Any suggestions on travel options from Varanasi to Dharamsala. I would like to save time as i will be running from one program to the other - though i dislike rushing in India.
Some suggested i backtrack to Delhi and take the overnight bus from Majnukatilla. Is there a bus or train from V to D?

which train is best? Posted: Fri November 24, 2006 05:47 AM UTC
we are travelling into Varansi on the Rajdhani Express in mid January 07 but when going on to Kolkata would like a train that leaves at a reasonable hour (not 1.45 am) so am searching the Indian Railways site. Doon Express and Howrah Mail come up. If we went 2AC are these trains OK? Any other suggestions? We are a couple of seniors who would like a degree of comfort and privacy. Thanks Diane.
