HSR vs Bus between Airport and Downtown? Posted: Sat October 31, 2009 06:10 PM UTC
Hi Guys!
I will be staying at the Tango Nanshi as well as Westin (altogether 5 nights). Yet to decide which hotel first. Since the friend traveling with me has yet to try out HSR (I had done so between Taoyuen and Zuoying) I thought of taking at least 1 way HSR between Taoyuen Airport and Taipei City and perhaps the other way by bus. I noted that both the bus transfer and the HSR transfer costs are not too far apart (Bus NT125-140 while HSR NT135 + NT30 for UBus between the airport and Taoyuen HSR Station). My ETA into Taoyuen is 1440 (Tuesday) and ETD out of Taoyuen will be 1555 (Sunday).
I just need help to decide whether I should take the HSR to Taipei and the bus out, or the bus into Taipei and HSR out? In consideration of the flights schedule timing and the location of the hotels? Or maybe I should just take both ways by HSR? Let's say I will stay at the Tango first and ending my stay in Taipei at Westin (but even this is flexible). I know that Tango is right next to the MRT with lift access and I read that the Westin is not very close to the MRT Station...
Any of the buses do a drop off / pick-up at Westin? How about Tango Nanshi? We will be lugging the 28inch trolley bag each so don't really fancy longish walk or stairs...
How much will the cab fare be between the Taipei Main Station and Westin / Tango Nanshi?

Travel from taoyuan airport to taipei man station Posted: Wed October 28, 2009 12:08 PM UTC
i will be travelling to Taipei on 11/11/09. My initial intention is to take the 'guoguang' bus from taoyuan airport to taipei main station..but on second though, will i be stuck in a traffic jam around 7pm to 8pm if i were to take the 'guoguang bus'? Or should i opt for the high speed train from taoyuan to taipei station?

Hen/Bachelorette Weekend in Taipei - Bars/Clubs/Pubs Posted: Sun October 4, 2009 12:38 AM UTC
Hi all,
My best mate will be having her hen weekend in Taipei. So I'm looking for some bars/clubs/pubs that would be good for hen party atmosphere. We, of course, will be playing some hen party games so preferably these places would be more expats orientated as I suspect the local might not appreciate our games (they are all very tame I promise! We are too classy for rowdy stuff anyway). Any suggestions? Also, any possibility of getting a stripogram/kissogram for the bride? It doesn't have to be too full on, just a bit of fun.
On the other hand, any other suggestions on hen party activities will be very much welcomed!
Thank you so much for your help. Hen weekend commences on 6-8 Nov. :)

Visiting south taiwan in december Posted: Wed September 16, 2009 10:51 AM UTC
Hi,
Planning to visit Kaoshiung, Tainan & Taichung with family members this December (about 10 days). Since we're on a budget, like to know if it's easy and cheap to travel on our own. What are the places we should not missed? We love nature...so scenery instead of shopping. What about the climate in december? Greatly appreciate your reply. Thanks to all!

Hi,
I will be in Taipei for one day only (02 Sep). As i only have a night, I am not sure whether to visit Shilin night market or Raohe night market? Which is better? Do I have enough time to visit both?
I appreciate if anyone can advise me on the above and recommend any other places worth visiting.
Thank you in advance.

Planning to go to Taipei for holidays Posted: Thu August 20, 2009 04:18 PM UTC
Hi everyone!
Me and a group of friends are intending to visit Taipei (or even the surrounding areas) this December holidays. We are not keen on total shopping madness (even though there will be ladies), or temple visits but hopefully it will be one which we will get to try out new things as well.
Could you give us some advise on suggested itinerary or must-see sights or must-do activities?
We are in our 20s and intending for a 5 day trip there.
Thanks for helping!!

Please advise: Travel to Taipei from Aug 02 to 05 2009 Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 01:55 PM UTC
Hi Guys,
How r ya? I saw a lot of helpful comments from you regarding Taiwan.
Let me introduce myself. I am 25 yrs old male from Sydney, Australia and work as a financial accountant with a global and well known company P & G.
I m travelling to Taiwan (Taipei)from Aug 02, 2009 (Arriving 5 am) to August 05, 2009 ( Departing 7:45am), and need your advise for some questions if u don't mind...
1) What is the best way to get to Hotel from Airport (Bus or Taxi) and What is the frequency and cost of Bus Service?
2)Which hotel would be good for moderate budget? I don't mind to spend more if there is any safety and cleaning issues in cheap hotels.
3)Please let me know the places to visit as i don't have much idea abt Taiwan, and I want to see as much as possible.
4) Can people speak English in Taiwan. If not how do I communicate with them?
5)How is the public transport? Is it possible to buy a travel pass for three days that could be used in buses and trains. If yes, how much does it cost?
6)How is the nightlife in Taipei? Is it safe to walk on the streets at night time?
7)Is it possible to get a tourist package and join tourist group like Singapore which offers three days tourist package for different destinations including free ride on buses anytime for three days.
8)Any safety tips & any dangerous situations you have faced in Taiwan.
Really Appreciate your help!!!
Thanks a lot!!
Cheers!!

Chinese Translation Posted: Fri June 5, 2009 03:57 AM UTC
I know that in traveling via taxi can be hard as a lot of drivers don't know how to speak english. I was wondering if there is any website where I can have the name of the various sightseeing sites in Chinese so that I can just print it out and show it to the cab driver.
