Lille Palais des Beaux Arts
Posted: Thu April 16, 2009 11:28 AM UTC
Is there a cafe within the Palais? Or if one wants a cup of something, does this mean finding somewhere outside of the building? It's a big place, so it would be nice if there was somewhere within.

Lille I hate to miss the good stuff !
Posted: Thu October 9, 2008 10:01 AM UTC
Hello,

My wife and I are planning to visit Lille for a long weekend at the end of this month - October 2008. I've got a broad sketch of what we're going to get up to, but I'd hate to miss out on anything good that may be happening in Lille that weekend.

My - broad - plan is :

Friday - shop, site see, eat out in the evening
Saturday - possibly take the tourist office's English language walking tour of the town, or failing that more shopping, then in the evening there's some tango dancing to be done - I guess food has to come into the equation somewhere
Sunday - the Wazemmes market, and possibly a wander around the citadel gardens, before heading home

Is there anything that I'm missing ? Is there some fabulous music event happening ?

Any and all thoughts are very welcome !

Thank you,

Simon May

Lille Someone out there looking for a flatmate?
Posted: Fri August 29, 2008 03:52 AM UTC
The daughter of my best friend (25y) is looking for people in Lille who would rent her a room for 6.5 to 8 months, from the coming October. She will be at the university and study French, so a place in a student flat would be perfect.

Hi, my aged parents are arriving in Lille on 9 Sept 08 and wish to visit the military cemetery at La Gorgue (or is it Levantie?). They are staying at Hotel Des Tours, can they get to the cemetery using public transport, if so which bus train and from where in Lille?
Any other help on exact location of graves would be welcomed

Lille To Lille or not to Lille?
Posted: Thu February 28, 2008 02:52 AM UTC
If you had 4.5 days in Belgium and 8 days in Paris, with 1 day to spend where ever you wanted. Would you A. Spend it in Lille, B. Add it to Paris or C. Add it to Belgium (we are going to Brussels, Brugge, and Ghent)???

What is Lille like? I read about it in Fodors, but it doesn't say too much except its a small town and there is a big mall type thing to shop in. Is this town worth stopping in?

Lille Bus Tour of Lille?
Posted: Mon January 28, 2008 09:48 AM UTC
Hi Folks,

I'm taking my mum to Lille on Wednesday and although I've stopped off here a couple of times in recent years I can't remember too much about the place.
I seem to remember last time that there was a bus tour of available, now does this still run? and this time of year? walking tour would be great - but given it's my mum, I figure a bus would be better, age and all that ;-)

Plus, if anyone has any suggestions for a nice restaurant for lunch, that would be cool :-)

Cheers

Can anyone recommend a good North African restaurant for a long lunch in Lille, preferably near the musee des beaux arts. I've noticed mixed reviews for La Maison du Couscous Le Grain Magique and El Koutoubia...are they any good?

Lille Car Rental
Posted: Wed December 12, 2007 05:18 AM UTC
My Wife & I will visit Lille in April 2008.
We wish to hire a car and visit the war Cemetary wher my GGrandfather was buried in 1917 and were looking a renting a car for the day.
Average prices on the net seem to be 100 euro for a day which is extreme by Aussie standards. Is this normal or are their cheaper options available?
any advice would be appreciated.

cheers

Lille Lille Flandres station: 6 minutes enough to change trains?
Posted: Fri May 11, 2007 08:25 PM UTC
Hi,

I'm planning to take an IC train from Antwerpen to Lille Flandres, then catch a TGV train to Paris Nord. There are only 6 minutes between when the IC train arrives and the TGV departs.

From some pictures, it looks like there are 4 tracks in the Lille Flandres station.

Is 6 minutes enough time to change trains? [Of course being next to the door and all ready when the train arrives]

Thanks

Is this enough time to change trains?

Lille Le Paradis, Lestrem
Posted: Wed April 18, 2007 08:59 PM UTC
I am hoping in the near future to travel from Dundee, Scotland, to Lille, with the intention of visiting a war grave at Le Paradis (Paradis) near Lestrem.

I can get to Lille without any problem, either by Bus, Train or Flight, but can anyone tell me what transport facilities are available from Lille to Lestrem (nr Estaires or Merville) as I do not have my own transport?

Any help to solve this problem would be appreciated.

Thanking you in anticipation

Lille Football Tickets
Posted: Sun November 26, 2006 09:28 PM UTC
We live in the US, and I will be bring my family to Lille from London to see the Lille v Lyon football game on Feb 17th, 2007. I cannot figure out how to get these tickets ahead of time, online, etc. Anyone have any ideas?
The entire point of driving to Lille is to have my son be able to see them play, so I need to be sure we have tickets before making plans.

Lille Cheapest way to travel from Paris to Lille
Posted: Mon November 6, 2006 11:27 AM UTC
Hello/ Salut

My boyfriend and I want to go to Lille from Paris on 1st December and return to Paris the next day. We are both over 25 and under 60 and have no special redution card.
I browsed the sncf site and the cheapest return ticket for two that I found was 116 Euros.

I read something on the Lille 3000. Is it possible to get a better discount for the given days? Or is there any bus to be catch isntead of train?

Tips from sncf experts are welcome
