Am travelling with elderly mother to the see the Grotto and sanctuary. What is the best way to travel to Lourdes from Paris? IS Pau the best/closest airport to the grotto? Does anyone have a good hotel to recommend that is close to the Grotto?
Tks.

Hi! I´m leaving to Lourdes in ten days and I will be there for the day. I will arrive to Pau airport , I will take a shuttle bus to Pau train station ,I will visit Lourdes Sanctuary and then I will take a train to Paris. I would like to know where I should leave my luggage to walk comfortably around the sanctuary... at the bus station, at the train station... Are there lockers somewhere to leave it?
Thank you,

There is an Air France flight from Orly to Lourdes, France. Is this the same Lourdes, France where the famous pilgrimage site is?

Is there also train from Lourdes to Barcelona or Madrid or Lisbon?

Lourdes Lourdes (from Barcelona or Madrid)
Posted: Thu March 1, 2007 05:21 PM UTC
Hi,

I plan on visiting Lourdes (France) in May, departing from Barcelona (Spain), but I haven't yet found any 'fast/cheap' way to get there. Apparently, all flights to Lourdes come from any other destinations in France, which makes flights longer and more expensive.

What is the fastest/easiest way to visit Lourdes, without spending much time and money? Is there a flight going from Barcelona to Lourdes, with no stops? I will also visit Madrid, so if there is flight to Lourdes departing from Madrid, that would work for me too. :)

I really appreciate anything you could provide me with.
Thanks, Luis.

Lourdes Bathing in the water
Posted: Sat February 24, 2007 10:13 AM UTC
I will be in Lourdes in July. Does anyone know if one needs to make "reservations" to actually bathe in the water? How does this work? Will I be in line for hours? Please help me. It is imperative that I accomplish this.
Thank you for any help.I will be coming from Toulouse, but I don't get there until 4:30 pm. Is it best to strike out for Lourdes next day a.m.? Should I plan to stay 24 or 48 hrs. to accomplish this? Will it be terribly hot? What's the norm in July. Thank you for any part of this that you can answer.

You went in May, I'm traveling the 1st. week of July. I have bad lungs. Do you think I'll need a hotel w/ air conditioning? Was it hot when you were there?
I love the idea of an older quaint hotel but can't be airless. Please advise. Thank you for any help.

Lourdes Best Western Hotel CHRISTINA or Hotel SAINT SAVEUR
Posted: Wed January 31, 2007 04:43 PM UTC
We would like to get views of anybody who has stayed the the HOTEL CHRISTINA in Lourdes. There have been reviews that says it is 400-500 meters from the sanctuaries- in a road called peyramale...is the road uphill going to the sanctuaries?
We are also considering another hotel named Saint Sauveur ( which is near the sanctuary) but our travel agent's quote for it is 40 US$ more/night than the Hotel Christina...i don't know if the price difference of 40$/night is worth it, condidering we'll be in Lourdes for 2 nights and our family will get 2 twin rooms, a total of 160$ US difference for the 2 nights...
I hope somebody replies and thanks.

Lourdes Anybody who has traevelled by train from Lourdes to Nice, via toulouse?
Posted: Fri November 3, 2006 02:42 AM UTC
Our family will be travelling by train from Lourdes to Nice with a change of train for about 12 minutes in Toulouse. If you have travelled this train, was it easy to find the train going to Nice? I am worried as the four of us will be bringing our suitcases with us as we'll be travelling from Nice up to Rome, etc.
If you have travelled this route can you give us a detailed description of what we'll do? So we'll be able to visualize beforehand what we'll do in the station of Toulouse.
If we won't be able to get the 1p.m. train to Nice from Toulouse, the next trip will arrive Nice about midnight.

I'll be making a trip from London to Lourdes for 4 days - 21 July to 24 July.
What's the best and most economical way to travel there?

When I arrive at the Lourdes airport or train station, how do I make my way to the pilgrimage site?

Lourdes Lourdes from India
Posted: Wed April 19, 2006 10:14 PM UTC
Hi
I am planning to gift my parents a trip to Lourdes for their wedding anniversary. Can someone advise me on
1.which is the closest international airport to Lourdes for a direct flight from Bombay (Mumbai)
2.good hotels at a walkable distance to the grotto
3.places to see . They will not drive around ,and will need to depend on public transportation.
4.Are 5 days good enough to cover all the sites. I could add a few days for them to visit Paris too.
If anyone has a scanned copy of the area map (English), could you pls send it to me.
Appreciate your suggestions and help.
For those of you that recognise me from the pic , pls dont tell my parents :)

I am going to Lourdes as a group leader of some young people. Our accomodations will provide us with some basic meals, but was wondering if in the town of Lourdes there are sidewalk cafes, bistros where I can enjoy some local culture. Any recommendations?
