Has anyone stayed at this apartment hotel? Posted: Tue October 6, 2009 05:50 AM UTC
We will be taking two elderly couples, all of which are quite picky with food as they are either allergic to regular cooking oil, allergic to canned tomato and so forth. We googled some accommodation but the closest apartment and hopefully it really has a kitchen wherein you are able to do your cooking from scratch, the name of these apartment hotel is: Hotel Victoria Garden - Hotel Appart. and the location is 60 rue de la Grotto.
Has anyone ever stayed at these apartment hotel? Since these two elderly couples are using a wheel chair, could you tell us how far of a walk would it be to the entrance of the grotto?
Do you know if they are open during the month of November, 2009? As I heard Lourdes closes during winter. Many thanks to all,

What are the nearest hotels to Lourdes sanctuary Posted: Sun September 27, 2009 12:23 PM UTC
I am travellingn with some elderly folks to Lourdes. Which is the nearest hotel to the sanctuary? Anyone know if CITEA ST JEAN or CITEA CAMINO is close enough to walk? Am thinking of Hotel Solitude or Saint Saveur, but they seem pretty old.

Do you know of any local guided tours in Lourds?
I have been searching on the web, but found only packages to Lourds from Paris etc. but no local full day tours in Lourds.

Need your input Posted: Wed March 25, 2009 06:10 PM UTC
My husband and I are planning a vacation to Europe this summer. Our primary destination is Lourdes & Paris, and surrounding area(if possible). We plan to leave the US on Jun 25, return on Jul 4, 2009.
We're Catholics, so we want to experience all we can have in Lourdes.
So, can anyone give us ideas about our itinerary?
Also, is it possible(or better) to have the fligt from US --> Barcelona and Paris --> US? Since Lourdes is closer to Barcelona than to Paris.
Thanks

Need Help/Tips to Lourdes Posted: Mon February 23, 2009 11:03 PM UTC
My husband wants to go to Lourdes when we visit Paris this Summer. We have to board our cruise on Thursday and this means we have to leave Paris for Venice on Wednesday. Every tour that I am looking up is 2-day tour leaving Wednesday and come back on Thursday. Is it possible for us to take a trip to Lourdes on our own at any giving day since our time/date is very limited? Will we survive to take a trip by ourselves as we are non-French speaking folks?:-) I would appreciate any information!

Night train from Lourdes to Paris Posted: Mon October 6, 2008 02:22 AM UTC
Hi,
Does anyone know of a night train from Lourdes to Paris? Since the train journey is about 7 hours, I was wondering if I could do the journey at night and spend more of the day at the sanctuary.
The voyages-sncf website is in French and I don't quite understand it fully. The night train that it reports is to "Paris Austerlitz" on the "Lunea". The price is 74 euros. It also says "Loisir Spécial Web". Does that mean this is a web special deal?
For these trains or the TGV, is it better to book them on the internet or buy them at the station? Are there ticket machines at the stations where you can buy with a card, or does it involve waiting in long lines?
Thanks in advance.

Wheelchair Availability/Access in Lourdes Posted: Sat September 20, 2008 05:16 AM UTC
I am traveling with my parents who will need wheelchair assistance during our trip to Lourdes and Paris from Chicago. Are there places that will lease/rent out wheelchairs during the duration of our stay in Lourdes and Paris? We plan to stay in Lourdes for 3 days and about 1 1/2 weeks in Paris. They will also need wheelchair access in and around airport and train terminals as well. I just need to know if there are other options besides bringing their own wheelchairs. It will be a leisure trip as well and we plan to rent a vehicle so relying on public transportation will be very minimal.
I appreciate your advise.

January in Lourdes Posted: Thu September 18, 2008 05:22 PM UTC
Hi,
Would it be a mistake to go to Lourdes in January? I do expect wintry conditions, but are most of the hotels and restaurants open all year long? Do trains run to Biarritz and Carcassonne frequently enough to make a day trip reasonable/
Thanks for any help you can give me.

4 days in Lourdes Posted: Thu June 5, 2008 03:28 PM UTC
Hi There
I'm taking my mother to Lourdes for 4 days next week but I've been told we really only need 1 or 2 days over there. Just wondering if there are any other good sites to visit in and around Lourdes to cover the other 2 days.
Thanks

The Hague to Lourdes and back Posted: Sat May 17, 2008 07:09 PM UTC
Hello,
I've never been to Europe myself, but I'm researching for my uncle.
He wanted to leave The Hague to Lourdes on July 7, 2008 and back again to The Hague on July 11, 2008. And he's in his 60s.
1. What's a good way to go from The Hague to Lourdes which is not expensive. He has no preference between train or plane.
2. Any recommendations on places to stay in Lourdes? He is ok to stay at guesthouses or homestays or maybe hostels to save some money.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!! :)

Barcelona to Lourdes? Posted: Sat April 26, 2008 03:04 PM UTC
Hi to all! :o)
I am new here. How are you all doing? I read ALL the posts about my topic but did not find what I'm looking for so I'm going to ask again:
I also would like to travel from Barcelona to Lourdes by train or bus. I will be taking a small group of pilgrims from the Czech Republic and I need to find out the most inexpensive way to get from Barcelona to Lourdes and back (we are all students). I've searched many websites and even tried the spanish and german train sites (renfe and bahn.de) but to no avail.
I need to find the CHEAPEST solution to get there and back for a group of 5 people.
Can anyone help?
Thank you very much,
Jan from Denver/also Czech Republic :-)
cestovani@romantika.net
PS: Would anyone know once we're in Lourdes - can we set up a tent? Or are there cheap accomodations you can recommend? Thank you ever so much! I want to make the pilgrimage for my sick friend dying of cancer.

Rome to Lourdes Posted: Thu March 6, 2008 06:08 AM UTC
We will be visiting Rome and would like to go to Lourdes as a side. We have 5 days. Do you have recommendations on the cheapest, safest way to travel (plane, boat, train, bus, half and half) and route? If possible would like to stop in Paris one of the directions. Is Nevers near and is it possible to visit from Lourdes and how would we get there? Is there a convent which has room and/or board, hotel reasonably priced? If train which choice, euro rail pass or point to point. Since our $ has shrunk quite a bit we need to do this the most cost effective way. Thank you for your suggestions.
