About infectious diseases Posted: Fri September 11, 2009 01:53 PM UTC
Dear fellows,
I am quite new here and finally I hope that I will find an answer to my question.
I am travelling from France to Guangzhou in a few days.
I contacted the Chinese consulate office and they told me that no vaccination for any disease is required.
I was told that probably if I went to small villages on the south I would need a hepatitis B vaccine.
Do you have anything more to add concerning vaccination issues and infectious diseases there in general?

Need advise Posted: Sun June 14, 2009 11:18 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
This is our first time visiting Guangzhuo & Macau. Traveling on August 30 - September 5, 2009. Flying from Kota Kinabalu, Sabah - Macau.
We understand that going from Macau to Zhuhai (by ferry) and enter Guangzhuo (by road). Can anyone share with us the time, schedule and cost of traveling?
Apart from that we understand that visa has to be obtained before entering to china for Malaysian. How about Nigerian? Would it be difficult to obtain visa or pass to enter Macau, Hong Kong and other parts of China from Malaysia?
What are the places of interest in GuangZhuo and Macau. Intend to spend 4 days in Guangzhuo (for business) and 3 days in Macau (for leisure). Any better suggestion?
Also suggestion on hotels? cheap, clean and convenient.
thanks in advance.
best regards,
ms

Questions on Guangzhou Posted: Tue April 28, 2009 10:40 AM UTC
Hi its me again, hope to gain your advise before my trip in 2 weeks time
1. I bought an one-way Air Asia ticket from KL to GZ, and my return flight will be from HK to KL. Will it be a problem for the airline side or Chinese customs side as I do not have a departure flight out of China GZ? I am a Singaporean and do not need VISA - but afraid they ask me abt my point of departure- or its alright?
2. My itinery would be GZ-Macau-Shenzhen-HK for 10 days. Will stay in Hotel Canton, spend 3 days in GZ visiting Liuhua Garment Centre, Beijing Lu, Shang Xia Jiu Lu and Haizhu Square, any idea if any other sites not to be missed. We are into food & shopping. We will then catch a bus to Macau from Hotel Landmark Canton Hotel down the road. Is it convenient or any other better options? Any way we can buy advance tickets?
3. We will be buying china brand handphone, those can watch TV etc for personal use. ANy idea where can we get them? GZ or Shenzhen or Sham Shui Po (HK) is cheaper?
Sorry to bombed so many questions at once. Hope u can help. Thanks alot! :)

Travel advice on Guangdong Province (Southern China) Aug/Sept 2009. Posted: Thu March 12, 2009 10:07 AM UTC
I am looking for any advice, tips, recommendations etc. on a forthcoming trip to Hong Kong and southern China – more particularly for southern China/Guangdong province which is not as developed as Hong Kong(see below).
I am a professional photographer and have been commissioned to photograph at a conference in Hong Kong where I need to be from Sat 12th Sept to Sat 19th Sept. I want to do all my travelling (approx 3 weeks) before the conference.
An approximate itinerary (based on my limited knowledge of the area) would be:
• 1 week in Hong Kong/New Territories visiting surrounding area/islands.
• About 10 days travelling up and around one of the rivers/waterways north west of Hong Kong on the China mainland. I have looked at a map and the following appear interesting (although I have no knowledge whatsoever about them!): Xi Jang River, with the cities Jiujiang and Zhaoqing along the river. Guangzhou and Dongugan, more to the east - basically the southern part of Guangdong province.
• 1 week back in Hong Kong/New Territories and surrounding area/islands.
I’m 55, fairly fit & healthy and enjoy independent travelling. Based on past travelling experiences, I much prefer to visit places/locations/areas away from the traditional ‘tourist sites’. In an urban/city environment, I love walking the streets and photographing ‘street life’, i.e. people getting on with their daily life, markets, architecture, construction/building site activities, small business activities etc. But I am also attracted (less so) to natural beauty spots where one can relax and ‘chill out’ and possibly take some picturesque landscape/flora/fauna/agricultural images.
I am not the type of person who wants to see and do 101 things in a short space of time - I would much prefer to experience a more ‘in-depth’ knowledge/experience of area/s visited.
With regards accommodation, I would be happy in budget hotels/hostels, as long as I have my own room and ideally, private bathroom facilities.
I am aware that in large areas of China (especially off the ‘tourist trail’), English is not spoken. Also I will obviously look like a photographer/tourist as I would normally walk around with a camera jacket, two cameras/lenses round my neck and an ‘ordinary’ looking camera bag. Of course this will present me with personal security issues and I will just have to use common sense and always be aware of possible/potential ‘situations’.
Your input, however great or small, will be greatly appreciated.

Surface Mail/Seamail rates to Malaysia/Singapore Posted: Wed February 25, 2009 09:22 PM UTC
Hi
I saw some answers relating to surface mail
from Guangzhou to Malaysia in earlier posts.
May I have the weblink to the page where
it shows the rates from 1kg to 30kg
for Malaysia/Singapore?
I have tried to search the website chinapost.gov.cn
for more than half an hour using the Babelfish
Translation website(translate from Chinese to English)
and still couldn't find it.
Ellyse, do you know how much is the cost of the parcel box?
So, i have to pay
1)the postageXkgs,
2)the box,
3)the parcel ID of 8RMB, right?
anything other charges?
I plan to send around 10kgs to 20kgs of my shoppings
back to either Malaysia or Singapore
by surface mail(the cheaper one).
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my queries.
Really appreciate it!
Thanks!!!
Ellyse's answer to previous forumner:
""I don't have the price list. Seamail is obviously the cheapest, if you don't mind that it'll take a few months to reach Malaysia.
By seamail, the 1st kg costs 67.9 RMB, subsequently each kg costs around 12 RMB. I think the limit for each box is perhaps 20 or 30 kg. ""
