Has anyone gone on one of the excursions to see the cormorant fishermen? If so, how long was it, the cost, was it interesting, is it a "must see"? Any info would be much appreciated.

a group of us will be travelling to Guilin, Yanghuo n some other places around for a week in early Nov'05. would appreciate if anyone has any idea where to hang out at night? is it safe for women to move around at night? what are the MUST see or interesting? n shopping??

Any suggestions and information would be appreciated-
Considering the railroad vs the bus. Anyone know the bus fare, bus station and experience taking the bus there? Will also travel to Yangshuo-- and suggestions how to get there would be greatly appreciated. Also plan to take a day trip(s) from either Yangshuo and Guilin--any ideas? THANKS!

Ok i actually would really appreciate help.. I know everyone asks but i need help but not just places but exactly how to get to them where to stay etc.

I have about 8 days i am an expat living in china but will be travelling with brother who is from overseas. I am starting in Beijing and wanna go to xian but after that really don't know where to go. I wanna end up in guangzhou so i can get a flight back to my home in Shijiazhuang.

So if anyone could give me tips on what places are cool and maybe between xi'an and guangzhou that would be great. What would be even better would be where accomodation is and also what to do in the places.

I have read up on guilin and it looks good i would love to do farm tours or something with the smaller villages so my brother can see some unique china. So if anyone can give me a website like that or maybe tell me a place they know.

I just don't wanna do tours because it seems too expensive.

My wife and I would like to go to Guilin in June. However, we don't know how to get there from Xi'an by train. Please advise us. Hopefully, someone can point us to the right direction to stay, the cheap hostel and to do.

Hello everybody!
I will come to Guilin/Yangshou this weekend (1.-5. April) and I was wondering if there is anybody going/staying there in the same period!?
I will stay at the Guilin youth hostel the first night and then go on to Yangshou for the other days.

I am leaving for guilin on monday and would like to take the boat from guilin to yangshou. I have no idea where i am staying in guilin yet but where can i catch the boat from guilin? Could anyone tell me the chines characters maybe soi i can show the taxi driver to take me there...or someother way to show or tell them? Thanks for any replies....

Hi i am planning a trip to Guilin on the 21st of march -23rdish. 2 or 3 nights. Should we only stay in Guilin or is it worth going to near by cities? Where should we stay to be close to everything? What should we see while were there? Thanks to who ever has any ideas and responses.

Does anyone know if there's a train from Guilin to Tunxi? Where can I find the schedule in English? Is it easy to book the train from Guilin or should purchase it way in advance?

What is the price for a car (preferably a minivan) that will hold 6 (incl. the driver)? How can I secure one before getting here so I don't have to spend more time trying to find a minivan?

Heya. So, i have this friend who recently came into the U.S. from Guilin, China about 2 months ago to help teach at the wushu school where i work. She's a very nice girl with a lot of energy about her, and i'm very happy to see her every day. However, she's feeling very homesick, and she misses her home and her family. I was hoping to put together a sort of album type thing with photos from Guilin for her, with the hopes that maybe if she could see her home whenever she wants (even if it's only in pictures) it would help her feel a bit better about being in the U.S. Now, there is a wealth of photos from Guilin on the 'net, but the problem is they're too damned touristy (which is understandable considering they were all taken by tourists). I don't think such photos would really be representative of home for her. Does anyone know where i could find some photos that a native of Guilin might appreciate and find familiar? preferably from within the city and not only of the various natural beauties that are so prominant there. Any help would be VERY appreciated. Thank you.

I'm have been studying in Beijing with IES since Septembe. I am traveling to Guilin starting December 10. Do you know the best route to get form Guilin to Yanshuo? Are there any chill cafes and hang out places that you know of? Greatly appreaciated!

Hi, I have lived in China now for about 2 months and have finally found time to go travelling and leave the pollution hell hole of Dongguan. I only have 10 days so thought a trip to Guilin would be a laugh. But worried that I will be the only person there this time of year! Is this true? Or will there be enough backpackers to make the trip worthwhile? Planning to do the whole boat trip thing and travel around a bit so anyone interested in meeting up should get in touch.

Do you know what are the cheap and convenient ways to go to Gulin from HK ? Flight tickets look pretty expensive. Are there any train or bus solutions ? Is it comfortable ? (I mean if it is a night transportation, is it comfortable enough to sleep?)

I'll be in Guilin just for one night on September 30th. I'm looking for accommodation in the budget range. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to look? It seems like everything listed on the Internet is quite expensive, but I'm sure there's other places out there.

from what i heard the best shops to find DVD-copies is in Guilin. but i dont know where, does anyone know where the good shops are located?
i want good quality dvd's and cheap.
i heard that the dvd's cost 7-10 yuan each, but the quality can be very different from shop to shop.

Looking for peoples' advice on accommodation options in Guilin. Doesnt need to be real budget conscious but Im also looking to contain the costs as well. What are the benefits of these locations and your experiences would certainly be appreciated.
