Guilin Tour in Guilin and Yangshuo
Posted: Sun September 27, 2009 06:00 PM UTC
I would like to ask a few questions:

1)Do you think is better to book tours when I reach guilin or to book tours on the internet?

I have checked on the internet, all are quite expensive. So I'm thinking whether I will be able to get a cheaper rate when I reach guilin.

2) Any recommendations of local private tour guides, that is reasonably priced?

thanks

Guilin touring guilin

i am curious to know if it is easy for one to travel to the guilin's tourist spots on your own without being part of a tour.

can you buy for example tickets for the river cruise in town or at the docks? or pay for the entry fee for the caves at the door.

is it also easy to travel around guilin and to these places by cab or must we have a private car and driver ?

I need advice of how to advance book 5 train tickets (soft beds type) from Guilin to Guangzhou. I heard that the soft beds are sold out very quick.

Can someone also let me know of any city lounge that I can take shower or food before departing for the 9pm night train?

Thanks.

Guilin Guilin tips
Posted: Mon June 22, 2009 01:25 PM UTC
We will be visiting Guilin next month. We need advice on the following:
1)Can someone recommend some hotel around RMB200 per night? We are arriving in Guilin around 11 am and will be staying in Guilin for one night.

2) We need advice for some local tour on Guilin and Yongshau. Prefer to join group tour.

3) After that, we plan to travel by train to Guangzhou. Do we have to book the train tickets in advance? I heard there are two night trains per day to Guangzhou.

4) Is there any palce that we can take a shower before boarding the train to GZ (which is a 12 hrs one)

Thanks for your help.

Guilin Weather in Guilin and Yangshuo
Posted: Mon June 1, 2009 02:52 PM UTC
Hi, I will be visiting Guilin and Yangshuo in June 8th 2009, for a week. I have checked the weather forecast and it seems that it will be really hot and humid. Is it going to be too hot to move around at 33 Celsious? Alternatively, how accurate is the weather forecast? Thank you.

Guilin Guilin Li River cruises--options!
Posted: Tue February 10, 2009 07:39 PM UTC
When I went to Guilin 2 years ago, I paid the Lijiang Waterfall hotel tour desk to get on a cruise to Yangshuo. They took me 15mins out of town to get on a whole slew of boats outside of Guilin. According to the Lonely Planet Guide I just picked up, there seems to be an access point just opposite the Sheraton in Guilin where you 'should' be able to jump on a boat to Yangshuo for much less cost around 830am in the morning. I'm travelling in early September. Can someone verify this information? I'd like to avoid going that long way again. Thanks!

Guilin River Li's water levels
Posted: Fri November 21, 2008 04:01 PM UTC
Hey,
I lived in China for a year and am planning on a return visit in early 2009, only I'll be taking my boyfriend with me.
I've never been to Guilin/Yangshuo and thought it would be good for us to spend a few days in the area.

We're planning on being disgustingly touristy and going on a river cruise from Guilin to Yangshou, but I have some concerns about the water levels! We had planned on going in January but I think the river level will be too low. Does anyone have any advice about the feasability of a boat tour in early March (or even late Feb)? Ideally we'd like clear skies too, so any advice would be welcomed! Thank you in advance for any replies.

Guilin Longsheng - Guilin rice terraces
Posted: Sat November 15, 2008 06:32 AM UTC
Has anyone stayed at the Li-An Lodge in Longsheng? I understand it is an hour's hike to get there. Will it be a difficult hike, and will it be muddy in late February or early March with a lot of rain? Is that the only way to see the various ethnic villages? Anything you can tell me would be GREAT! Thanks.

Guilin What are the two best/ essential caves in Guilin and Yangshuo?
Posted: Tue September 30, 2008 03:40 AM UTC
My wife and I are taking my parents to Guilin and Yangshuo. There are quite a few sights to see. We think we should see a couple of caves along with the scenery.
There are too many caves to visit, two is enough. Here is a list of the caves, which are the two best in your opinions?
Reed Flute Cave
Crown Cave
Ludi Cave
Silver Cave
Water Cave
Butterfly Cave

After a search I couldn't find this particular question. Crown Cave looks interesting- is it worth it?

Guilin Guilin train station to bus station
Posted: Wed September 3, 2008 12:27 PM UTC
We are going to Yangshuo. I understand that after we land at Guilin, we should take the airport bus into town. I think the bus goes to the train station and we then have to make our way to the long distance bus station for the express bus to Yangshuo. In one writeup they said the bus station is 500 meters away but in another one someone else said it is a 10 minute walk. My questions are how far is it and will there be taxis around to haul our luggage and us if it is indeed a ten minute walk?

Hi everyone,
My plan is to travel from Huangshan to Guilin in early August, however I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out exactly how to do so. It doesn't seem that direct flights are available between the two cities. Any flight or train information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Guilin Guilin or Yangshuo

Is it better to stay in Guilin or Yangshuo? Yangshuo looks nicer to me but some people have said it is too touristy and crowded. We are travelling in April and we want to be in this area about 4 or 5 days.

Guilin first night in Guilin?
Posted: Thu November 15, 2007 08:21 AM UTC
We will arriving at Guilin airport at 19:25. I've heard it's nicer to stay in Yangshuo, but is it worth the 1 1/2 hour transfer so late at night?

Any recommendations for a place to spend the first night in Guilin, approx 200RMB? Do most hotels pick up at the airport and what is the average cost?

Thanks so much!

Posted: Fri September 28, 2007 09:03 AM UTC
We be taking a family vacation to Guilin/Yangzhuo at the end of December to beginning of January. Wish to know how's the weather in Guilin, China around Xmas to New Year? Will it be cold? There will be 2 kids age 6 and 4 tagging along, so is wondering if we should bring some thick winter clothes along. And is there any places of visit around Guilin/Yangzhuo to recommend?

Thank you!

Guilin Avoiding crowds on the Li River
Posted: Sun May 27, 2007 06:34 AM UTC
I and some friends will be visiting Guilin in 2-3 weeks, and of course we're looking to experience the landscape, presumably from the river. However, we would prefer a more personal experience than being crammed on a huge tourist boat with a large number of people.
To experience the landscape, how necessary is it to sail the river? Is there a way to have an equal (or greater) experience by doing a land tour?

Also, I've heard that starting in Yangshuo and sailing east from there (not north toward Guilin) provides a comparable (if not better) view of the landscape. Has anyone done this?

Finally, is it possible to hire a boat and driver for an entire day? I'm interested in photographing the area, but I would prefer not to be confined to the tourist boat, and have plenty of freedom to go off the beaten path.

Thanks in advance,

Dan
