Hangzhou Orlando, Florida to Hangzhou, China
Posted: Sun September 2, 2007 06:28 AM UTC
What's the best way for a poor college student to get from Orlando to Hangzhou, China?

I need to stay there for at least four days, and it needs to take less than a month for me to get there and back.

Remember, I have limited budget (meaning money for food and maybe a few nights at a cheap hotel).

Thanks guys.

Hangzhou hangzhou
Posted: Thu June 14, 2007 03:35 AM UTC
What is the best thing for a non-Chinese speaker to have on hand when using buses in Hangzhou? Is there a bus route guide I can get here in Shanghai before leaving, or is there something it is suggested to buy in Hangzhou railway station upon arrival?

Is there any site that gives detailed information for Hangzhou bus routes? I would like to familiarize myself with them before leaving. Even if the route information is in Chinese, it's ok: I can use the translator on my computer.

I have heard that Hangzhou buses announce stops in English as well as Chinese. Is this all buses, or just the Y buses?

Appreciate the info.

Hangzhou Hangzhou Hostels and sites
Posted: Thu June 7, 2007 02:42 PM UTC
I'm planning a short trip to Hangzhou from Shanghai. I have heard read very good things about the Jiangnanyi hostel--but I get the impression from what I've read that none of the staff speak English there? I have also read many good reviews for the West Lake Youth House, where apparently English is spoken. My Mandarin is very minimal and I'll be traveling on my own, so I'm thinking it might be a good idea to stay in a hostel where some English is spoken, in case I encounter a problem on my trip. Any recommendations?
Also, if you get a private room at a hostel, at what time are you usually able to occupy it? (Don't want to be in the situation of hauling my bags around because I arrived too early.)

I have a maximum of three days for my trip -- considering staying either two or three. Are two days not enough for someone who wants to really take in the sites in Hangzhou?

thanks for the info!

Hangzhou hostels in Hangzhou

Any suggestions? I've heard that Hangzhou Int'l Youth Hostel's dormitory room is okay, but does anyone have their email address so I can ask some questions? I tried finding it in the internet, but I can't find any. I want a hostel near the West lake and accessible to restaurants, transportation, etc..

Hangzhou Re: Souvenirs from Hangzhou
Posted: Fri May 4, 2007 12:54 PM UTC
I will be visiting Hangzhou, Suzhou and Shanghai on a business trip and have promised my kids and parents ( who will be babysitting them)whom I'm leaving behind that I shall be getting some souvenirs for them. Problem is I would be short of time and would not have the time to browse or window-shop.What are the products which are typical or unique to these places and where can I buy them at each city?Knic-knacs like chopsticks or items for display will not be appealing to them.Perhaps some traditional toys or tidbits would be appreciated.

Hangzhou Hangzhou-Pudong Airport by night?
Posted: Wed April 11, 2007 05:03 AM UTC
Hi,
I have to be at Pudong Airport at 7:oo in the morning on Monday 16th April. Are there any night buses or train departing from Hanzhou at night? If I take the train how do I get to the airport from the station? Maybe I had better go to Shanghai the night before and spend the night in a hotel? Then where?

Any advice as to the best course of action?

Thanks

Hangzhou Hotel near park (and not too far from Westlake)
Posted: Tue April 10, 2007 08:55 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm visiting Hangzhou in May. We have three children (4, 6 and 8 years old) so we are looking for a nice hotel.

Preferably next to a park. So that they can run outside the hotel ;-).

Would be nice if it was in walking distance to the West Lake.

We are looking in the price range 400-600 Yuan.

Does anyone have some suggestions?

Hangzhou Hangzhou to Tunxi to Yellow Mountain Area
Posted: Sat March 31, 2007 11:57 PM UTC
Hello:

My friend and I are planning to spend about three days in Huangzhou from the 25th of April to the 28th. We were then thinking of going to the Yellow Mountain area and spending a few days in this scenic landscape, hike the mountains etc.

What would be the best way to get from Hangzhou to Tunxi (should we fly? ) and how do we get from Tunxi to the Yellow Montain area. We would like to make a reservation in a hotel in Tunxi from the 28th for 2 nights and I am looking for suggestions for a good and centrally located hotel.

We would like to spend two days hiking and exploring the scenery and heard that the Yungu Hotel on the mountaintop is a good place. Any suggestions?

On the 2nd of May we would like to leave the mountain, get back to Tunxi and fly to Yangzhou where we are planing to stay from the 2nd to the 5th of May. (Metropark Hotel Yangzhou?) .

On the 5th we are booking a flight to take us from Nanjing to Beijing and I assume we will hire a car to take us from Yangzhou to the Nanjing airport.

Any suggestions for best mode of transport or wonderful hotels in the places mentioned are greatly appreciated.

Karin

Now, I was told by different people that the 1st of May National Holiday weekend is a very tough and crowded time nearly everywhere and it is probably a good idea to make train/plain/hotel arrangements for these days sooner rather than later.

Hangzhou Buying Train Tickets from Hangzhou to Beijing
Posted: Sat March 24, 2007 11:08 AM UTC
Hi guys,

We are planning a trip around China in April, with Hangzhou as the last stop. We will arrive on the morning of 4/14 from Shanghai, and depart for Beijing at night the next day (aboard Z10 overnight, Sunday) to catch a noontime flight from Beijing to Korea.

How difficult would it be to buy 2 tickets (soft sleeper) upon my arrival in Hangzhou on Saturday 4/14? Should I be worried about a lack of available seats? How fully booked is the Z10 train usually?

Any help at all would be appreciated!

Thank you!!!
