Hi all, I have 5 or so days to spend in and around Lijiang in a few weeks and I am quite confused. I was planning to go from Lijiang to Wenhai and then hike 2 days in Tiger Leaping Gorge. My questions:

1. Is it better to go from Lijiang to the Gorge or from Wenhai to the Gorge?
1. is it going to be difficult for me to find a guide to go on the 2 day hike with me? I'd rather no go alone.
2. After my hike, can I go to Zhongdian or is that too far?

Hi, i will take my mom and dad to Lijiang on 29 May and stay there for 3 days. Now i have contact the local tour in China and the cost will be 95 USD per person. This cost for 1 and half day price that's mean they will take us to Yulong snow mountain and Yufeng temple (which the same location) for 1 whole day. And they will take us to Shigu town to see the Yangzte river first bend for half day before head back to the city.

Can anyone please help to let me know, does the price is reasonable?
I have never been in China before, then i have no idea at all about the price.

I've seen numerous nice pictures of Lijiang and I would like to bring my folks there 1 day. Hence, I would like to find out when is the best time to travel there and whether is it possible to DIY with seniors.

I have 10 days in Yunnan and don't want to wast a second, so my plan ATM is to head straight up to Lijiang, visit the gorge for 2 days, head up to zhongdian for 2 days, make my way back to LJ then down to Dali. If you had 10 days in yunnan, where would you focus on?? Hope you can give me some suggestions...

I will be travelling to lijiang for the spring festival holiday(ouch, i know but i get the same holidays as our chinese friends) and was wondering if you know what the weather will be like? I would also like to know the price of a plane ticket from kunming to Lijiang and a time of departure. Hope someone can help me!

we will be cycling from Zhongdian to Lijiang, via Tiger Leaping Gorge in the last week of November. Two questions: do we need malaria pills? Will there likely be snow in Zhongdian?

We are interested in hiking the high trail of tiger leaping gorge from Qiaotou to Walnut Grove in mid Nov and would like to know more about the weather there. Is mid Nov still in the raining season? Is it necessary to hire a guide? Any info is welcome. Thanks.

My wife and I are from Australia and will be in Lijiang for about 3 days (20th - 22nd of July) and were wondering whether we are best seeing the sights independently or doing tours. From what we can tell, we are pretty keen on covering the old town, black dragon pool and spruce meadow. I have a feeling that we would be pushing it to take in Tiger Leaping Gorge as well - unless there are daytrips by bus? Normally we like to travel independently but with only a few days in Lijiang we are a little concerned that we may end up wasting valuable time chasing up transport and getting lost.

The only tours I have been able to find online are fairly pricey and are in US dollars. Are there many tours you can just pick up on the day and pay in RMB?

Is Spruce Meadow easy to get to via bus?

Any help and tips would be most appreciated.

If I have 50-60.000 USD is there any business opportunity in Lijiang? I'd like to set up a restaurant, a guest house or something like that. Do chinese authorities allow foreign citizens to run business activities in Lijiang? You think a business like that could be successful in that area?

I was wondering about the mosquitos in the southern part of China. I did get my Hepatitis A shot, but was wondering about Malaria. I did get some insect repellant that is 98.9% DEET (even though I read somewhere that if its more than 50% its not going to be better), but I've been reading the CDC site and its kind of freaking me out. Did anyone else have any problems in Sept? I will be leaving on Sunday for Hong Kong (visiting Lijiang, possiblly Dali, Kunming at the end of our trip, Sept22) so any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Although I've read about Lijiang airport - couldn't see any flights but Kumming- Lijiang.
