Hi there, my friend and I are travelling on 31st December and returning to airport on the afternoon of Sunday 3rd January. I have seen that there are buses fromt the airport but wanted to know are we best to book this in advance of our trip and are we likely to have any problems getting back to the airport on a Sunday? Any advice would be gratefully received! Joan
Hi I was wondering if there was any room in Stockholm for a tall person to lay their head. I am traveling with a tall (2m) person and am having a heck of a time finding a hotel with a bed long enough for a comfortable nights sleep. I find it odd that as many tall people as there are roaming Sweden there aren’t more accommodations suited for persons of more than average height.
Please respond if you have any info leading to the capture of a suitable room.
I and 3 friends are going to London in December. We just booked a day trip to Stockholm due to Ryanair's amazing fares. What would you recommend we squeeze in to our one day adventure?
My husband and I are wondering if a visit to Stockholm for a week or two in January is a good idea. My youngest son is there for work and it would seem a good opportunity to see him and also see some of Sweden and maybe Denmark etc.
We are from Australia and are not used to extreme cold but feel we could cope with the right clothing but need to know that we will be able to get around and see things to make the cost worthwhile.
Thanks for any advice.
Are there any shopping centers, bigger supermarkets, etc... in the Stockholm city center (including Kungsholmen, Ostermalm, etc..) where cars are allowed to park freely (even if only for 1 hour)?
Are there some site, where I could see what kind of exhitions are going on at Stockholm right now?We will spend next monday there, and museums are mostly closed of course(or we have seen those witch aren´t) and we wer planning to go to Långholmen, but now I´ve heard that it´s really small place, and when we have seen finnish prison-museum at Hämeenlinna, there might not be anything so interesting for us.
So we either only try to shop or need to find something else. We´ve been there so many times, that seen most palces open then.
It is a bit hard to find the exact districts on a map in Stockholm.
(even on Google Maps)
I like to find a nice place to stay, and am wondering if it is better to stay in the centre, or that for example Solna is too far away.
I intend to visit Stockholm from 24 -29 dec.
But, is it possible to eat out on 25 or 26 december?
are museums open?
Is there anything to do at these days?
Or are people staying inside with their families?
I'm looking for an inexpensive 2nd hand clothing shop in Stockholm. These stores are also called thrift shops, and clothes are sold for 1-10euros. Sometimes they sell shoes too, for 10-20euros. Do you know the most popular chain for these shops in Stockholm?
Me and my girlfriend are going to Stockholm next week, and we would like to know, if there is some free places we could go the first day. (So that we dont have to buy the Stockholm-card the first day).
There is the old city, but anything else you could recommnent?
Prison museum Posted: Sat August 29, 2009 02:19 PM UTC
I remember reading about interesting prisonmuseum in Stockholm.I just don´t remember the name, can someone help?Is it far away from the centre?Easy to go? We have been tens of times in Stockholm, and seen most museums we´ve interested into, but this one we haven´t.And we will be ther at monday,so some places are closed.
It´s kind of work-trip,free time when the boat is at harbour, those ones with Silja Symphony, and stays some hours at Stockholm, don´t remeber how many hours, and we are wondering should we only go to gamla stan or could we visit that museum also.I guess that Grönalund isn´t open anymore at end of September?Skansen we have seen so many times, and museums around it.
By the way:is there any gothic clothes-shop near gamla stan? Those "normal clothes"-shops are all the same as at Finland ;)
Hallo,
please, advise what are the possibilities to get from the Arlanda aiport to the centre of Stokholm (to the Park Inn Solna hotel to be exact). In case that we take a taxi for how much it would approximately be? Is it better to book the taxi in advance or it will be the same price to take it at the airport? (In Moscow the difference is sometimes huge :))
Thank you in advance!
Working holiday visa for Canadian already in Europe
I'm a 27 year old Canadian traveling in Europe (non-student). I'm allowed 3 months (in every 6 month period) to remain in Europe (Schengen countries). Since I just arrived, and realized 3 months isn't enough, I am now interested in the working holiday visa for the below listed countries. The only problem I have is: I don't want to return to Canada to apply for these respective programs. I want to apply from here in Europe (at the nearest consulate, embassy, or immigration office) where I happen to be (now, Helsinki).
My question is how likely am I to be accepted since I am not in Canada and applying from within Europe. Also noteworthy, I DON'T have thousands of dollars in my bank account, BUT I do have access to a family credit card "number". The card itself is back in Canada. I use this card number online, or in emergencies. Also, I have a Canadian bank account ATM card with a few hundred dollars in it (more can be deposited at my request if a problem with the application arises). I know some of these programs ask for bank account statements (I wonder if they enforce that rule or just say it)?
Another question I have is which country has the easiest application process or greater chance of accepting applicants. If you have applied to one of these countries as a Canadian, or other national (while already in Europe), please let me know how you proceeded. Thanks
(in order of preference):
Sweden
Denmark
Norway
Latvia
probably harder but worth a try:
Switzerland
Belgium
Holland
Italy
Spain
Hello. I'm going to take a flight to Stockholm. I haven't yet chosen the flight and as I know there are two possibilities: Arlanda and Skavsta. Which one is better situated and what is the cheapest way to get from there to the main train station in Stockholm?
Greetings.
Hello. Would you be so kind to explain how to get from Stockhol central till student dormitory Ateneum (Valhallavägen 68
114 27 Stockholm) Million thanks and good day!!
We have never been to Stockholm, and we now have a chance to visit it, but unfortunately we have only 4 days! Please, advise how to spend those days in most interesting way! We would be interested in food, sightseen, culture. The trip will be in September and we'll have our small children with us... Thank you in advance!

My friend and I are heading to Stockholm for the first time in just over a week. I realise it is generally known as an expensive city but just wondering what people would recommend doing/seeing if they were trying to keep to a budget.
We know we want to go to Skansen and obviously will do a lot of wandering around areas like Gamla Stan. But are there other areas or places we can go that won't break the bank too much with admission costs etc
Also for eating.. Any recommendations for cheaper[but good!] places to eat?
I'm looking at pages but there are an overwhelming amount of tips on this city!
Hi, I'm going to Stockholm these days.
Since I'll stay in an apartment with cooking facilities, I've got a question for you. Can I find olive oil in Sweden? Can I find it normally in a supermarket?
Hello. I'm going to go by buss to Stockholm. How can I get from Cityterminalen to the main train station in this city? Is it within a walking distance, or should I buy a ticket for a local buss - how much would it approximately cost?
My husband and I will be in Stockholm next week. We'd really like to see some of the archipelago, but not really interested in just a boat cruise. Ideally, we'd like to get off the boat and explore an island or two.. We only have 4 days in Stockholm, and would really appreciate your suggestions about which island(s) to visit.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, I'll go to stockholm this week for 10 days. What kind of clothes should I prepare?T-shirt,long-sleeve shirt, cardigan or even jacket?
After 5:00pm when I finished my work everyday, is there any place of interests that I can visit?
Thanks for help.
We are looking forward to our (short) trip to Stockholm, starting july 31. We will land in Skavsta airport and are looking for a nice affordable Bed & Breakfast or Campsite that can easily be reached by public transport. Do you have a good suggestion?
Hello. I'm going to visit Stockholm in the end of August.
How much would it cost to buy a ticket for all the busses in this city for one day?
Can anyone recommend me a cheap accommodation ( possibly near the central train station). In Poland where I come from, it's possible to find a cheap room in the students' hostel, when the universities are empty during vacations. Is it also possible in Sweden?
